Zguy28
There have been some real douzies over the last 15 years. Ryan Leaf and Heath Shuler come to mind...their probably selling insurance together somewhere...
TheDane
Probably Ryan Leaf, because he was such a public and catastrophic failure. Tim Couch was drafted #1 overall, but somehow his failure flies a bit below the radar screen. And maybe some people give him pity points for his shoulder injury, I don't know... I'd probably say Leaf.
warrentonboy
Michael Westbrook comes to mind...
RedskinsFan1987
For the Redskins? I'll say Heath Shuler. Overall, it's a four-way tie between Andre Ware, Rashaan Saalam, Akili Smith, and Ryan Leaf.
TheDane
How's this for a horrendous stretch of #2 overall picks: From 1989 to 1993, the following players were selected #2 overall: 1989: Tony Mandarich, Green Bay 1990: Blair Thomas, NY Jets 1991: Eric Turner, Cleveland 1992: Quentin Coryatt, Indianapolis (followed their Emtman debacle  ) 1993: Rick Mirer, Seattle :thud:
bportfootball52
I feel that the most disappointing first round draft pick was when eli manning and philip rivers came into the league. The disappointing part to this whole thing is that eli was so hyped up that the giants gave away a very good QB in Rivers, and now Rivers is sitting behind Brees in SD. That is a disappointment in itself. To see a good QB sitting on the bench for the 2nd year in a row.:logo:
MCnDaHouse
What about Andre Johnson. I believe he was our first round OL pick. MC

RedskinsFan1987
What about Kellen Winslow II??? Can't really give an opinion on him yet; he has to stay healthy first. Now, if he can't come back, then...yeah; he sucks.
Zguy28
Jeff George HE WAS A FIRST ROUND PICK? WHO THE HECK COULD HAVE KNOWN THAT BY HIS PLAY?
Darth Tater
When you said recent years, I think over the last 5. For the Redskins that would be Rod.
Boss_Hogg
Ryan Leaf no doubt. Lawrence Phillips also comes to mind.
lunarluau
I know this is a Redskins board but Kwame Brown is one for the ages.
SkinsNut73
Ryan Leaf. For someone with so much potential, he accomplished absolutely nothing in the league (I guess that goes without saying since we are discussing busts). ...at least Heath Shuler beat the Cowboys

H-O-G
LOL True. I hope we trade him for a 3rd round pick this year so we can get somethin from the draft
grhqofb5
As far as pure "utility," is concerned, we got absolutely nothing from Andre Johnson, offensive lineman drafted in the late first round, around 1997.
