  1. One silver lining to this very dark cloud would be that since now Snyder owns 100% of the team, he is now also 100% responsible for everything that happens from here on out. Have to wonder, though: what if there are other allegations, with actual proof, of even worse behavior that haven't been brought to light yet? The NFL would look even worse than it does now, which isn't very good considering that all of the cheerleaders lost their jobs and the man responsible for the toxic environment that enabled their abuse was rewarded with even more control of the team by the owners' puppet Goodell. The only person who paid any price at all was Larry Michael, and all he lost was his job. The cheerleader DVD seems to have been forgotten about. It's clear the NFL didn't seriously consider the sexist environment a major problem, or they would have acted more decisively. But they will look worse if there are more allegations coming that they weren't aware of. The NFL better hope it did its due diligence... And where is the follow up? Snyder's goons tried to intimidate Moag and people who worked for the team. Schar and the other guy were DESPERATE to sell their shares...does anyone believe that it was only because Snyder missed a payment to them? All of this seems to have been swept under the rug, even by the media, who clearly isn't following up on any of this.
  2. Some thoughts on this... 1. What's to keep Snyder from changing the name back to Redskins? (a dumb question, but thought I'd ask...) 2. Does this 'deal' mean the lawsuits are closed, meaning no one cares any more than Snyder sent goons to intimidate Moag and some of the team's employees? What about the lawsuit in India? The phone of McCloughan's wife? Has anyone ever explained why Schar and the others wanted to sell their shares so desperately that they helped expose the toxic, sexist environment at WFT Park? Does any of this matter to the NFL? 3. What if FedEx and other sponsors threatened to pull out unless Snyder sells the team?
  3. Now if only Riddick could get Danny Boy to play with him again, this time with the franchise up for grabs, of course.
  4. Sure he does...the Reverse Midas Touch. In fact, the Hollies wrote a song called just that back in the 60s. Did they have a time machine so they could witness the disaster of Snyder's ownership? I'm not the guy to run with 'Cause I'll throw you off the line I'll break you and destroy you Given time He's King Midas with a curse He's King Midas in reverse He's King Midas with a curse He's King Midas in reverse It's plain to see it's hopeless Going on the way we are So even though I'd lose you You'd be better off by far He's not the man to hold your trust Everything he touches turns to dust In his hands Nothing he can do is right He'd even like to sleep at night But he can't Let's not forget that the company Snyder made his billions with, Snyder Communications, was later shut down for fraud I believe. There's a thread here: https://es.redskins.com/topic/329705-the-phone-slamming-king-how-snyder-communications-made-dan-snyder-rich-1997-1999-rich-enough-to-buy-the-washington-redskins/
  5. He won't sell because no one will ever invite him to their parties again or pretend to be his friend. To narcissistic, cry-baby billionaires, an NFL team is just a toy they like to show off, like a balding 57-year old man buying a Lamborghini Countache.
  6. I would hope not, it's not fair to punish the fans as you say...unlike the Patriots in Spygate, who gained a competitive advantage on the field from their actions.
  7. Owners have been forced to sell their teams for less than what Snyder is accused of. The cheerleader scandal is bad enough, but his attempts to subvert the investigation and intimidate his employees into not cooperating with Wilkinson is beyond the pale...but really shouldn't be surprising, considering that we're talking about Dan Snyder here. Gotta love how the NFL hemmed its answer...they only admitted to having not RECEIVED any such report saying all of this about Snyder. Which means in reality that it's sitting in Goodell's inbox and he just hasn't read it yet. If the NFL wants to stick to its response, however, they better be able to back it up with proof. It's clear the report was leaked to the Junkies because they feared (rightly) that the NFL would just cover it up. Have fun on your IMAX yacht, Boat Boy.
  8. Maybe not, but the ends do justify the meanness. And I agree with TD_washingtonredskins that no one should feel ever sorry for a billionaire. As much as I support capitalism, we all know that billionaires will never suffer from any of the troubles of us 'little people.'
  9. I'm with you. I honestly don't think the report will ever see the light of day, because Roger has already said that Danny Boy (and don't forget Tanya!!) have already made improvements in the culture...nothing to see here, please disperse. Although if that happens, I wouldn't be surprised if someone leaked it.
  10. RG III was just cut by the Ravens, so he's available. Just sayin'...😆 https://www.tmz.com/2021/01/18/robert-griffin-iii-cut-by-ravens-after-playoff-loss/
  11. Hoo boy, this gets worse...I think we know why Snyder hired him in the first place!! https://www.si.com/nfl/2020/07/08/washington-foundation-abandoned-mission “He would not be the kind of person that I would pick to run a foundation that is supposed to be structured to help the Indigenous people,” Wooten says. “The people you want running the foundation, you want them to be the kind of people that you know understand and, more than anything else, are committed to lifting the people up. … Gary Edwards would not be my guy.” Edwards brought two assets to WROAF that might have appealed to Snyder. One was that, on the surface, he appeared to have credibility. The other: He has said in private conversations, according to three people who have been part of them, that he is comfortable being called “redskin.”... In a precursor to his work with Washington, NNALEA colleagues say Edwards arranged for the Indian Motorcycle brand to sponsor a NNALEA reception at a National Congress of American Indians conference. Indian Motorcycles has a controversial Native American in a headdress as its logo; some attendees were appalled to see one of the motorcycles poolside at the reception.
  12. This Edwards guy wasn't exactly a good catch when they hired him... https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2014/03/27/washington-redskins-orginal-americans-gary-edwards-inspector-general/6983217/ Edwards is CEO of the National Native American Law Enforcement Association (NNALEA), a nonprofit whose contract with the Bureau of Indian Affairs was scrutinized in a report by the federal Office of Inspector General. The May 2012 report said that the NNALEA took advantage of the government in a contract that called for the NNALEA to help recruit "critically needed" law enforcement officers to work in Indian Country... The report does not mention Edwards by name, but instead refers to him as NNALEA's CEO. "NNALEA's CEO stated that he would focus his recruitment efforts in Indian Country," the report stated. "We found that recruitment in Indian Country was ineffective, with only 22 of 514 applicants (or about 4 percent) having Indian preference."... Oneida Indian Nation representative Ray Halbritter criticized the hiring of Edwards. "This is part of a disturbing – but sadly not surprising – pattern of behavior," Halbritter told USA TODAY Sports. "First Mr. Snyder insisted that a dictionary-defined racial slur is a way to honor Native Americans… and now he has hired a person who has financially harmed Native Americans to run a foundation to defend his team's name. These aren't accidents – this is a systemic campaign to denigrate Native Americans, orchestrated by a team owner who will stop at nothing to keep the team's name."...
  13. He probably only allows bootlickers to follow him. Or he didn't understand that people will tell him things he doesn't want to hear.
  14. Well, the WFT was the team of the south from 1937 until 1960 when the Cowboys arrived...which owner George Preston Marshall vociferously protested. Heck, even the song used to have the lyrics "fight for old Dixie" instead of "fight for old DC." Seems ironic that a team from the capital of the Union that ended slavery would be foisted upon a resentful South (I'm from the South so I can say that) 😆 during the Great Depression. But I don't think irony was a concept that GPM understood or appreciated.
  15. Allen may not have been so bad. He went to the USFL and had 2 playoff berths and one championship game berth in two seasons, going 24-16 during that 83-84 span. But the fact that the Rams fired him in the PRESEASON was not a good indicator...
  16. Don't count on it. If Snyder really cared about doing the right thing (which he clearly doesn't), he would have worked to change the culture years ago. He would have stopped meddling in football decisions. He would have made the workplace less toxic. He would hire competent people and let them do their jobs. He would refrain from suing little old ladies who can no longer afford their season tickets. He would have started the name change process years ago so we wouldn't be rooting for a team with blank helmets this year. But he didn't do any of those things because he doesn't care...until it's too late, and he tries to make himself look good with his recent hirings. He would do what's best for 'WFTE1932 football' and sell the team. But he won't, they will have to drag him kicking and screaming, spilling his Crown Royal and dropping his $300 Cuban cigar while his fingernails leave claw marks on his baby chair as they drag him away.
  17. This just by itself is proof that Snyder is just a crap human being. It's even worse when you consider that their employee manual (I wish the Post got a hold of one) also states not to look Snyder in the eye (who does this??), always call him Mr. Snyder (a classless move), and not have any lunch food that he can smell near him...plus having to have his toilet paper shaped as a V every day and have his paper clips all facing the same direction...it all adds up to Snyder being one of the worst humans to walk this planet.
  18. I think that's exactly how Snyder and his supporters think. They don't HAVE to earn our loyalty because we keep coming back every year for the same abuse. It wouldn't surprise me if the editor for the WFTE1932 2020 Media Guide is writing this as we speak, since the bar is so low: "Under Snyder's competent leadership over the last 21 years, the team has had three 10-6 seasons, nine non-losing seasons, 5 playoff appearances and 2 playoff victories." My guess is the NFL wraps up its investigation before kickoff on the 13th...nothing to see here folks, move along. The other owners are probably guilty of similar things and don't want too much light to shine on this issue. At the most he gets suspended for a year.
  19. As much as I'd like to agree with May 25th 1999 as the date everything started falling apart, I'm going to go with January 13th, 2002...the day Snyder fired Schottenheimer because he wouldn't let Little Danny play with his toy football team. This led to the disastrous hiring of Steve Spurrier, followed by an attempted return to glory with a worn-out Gibbs 2.0, the Zorn fiasco (which can't be blamed on Zorn), and everything else that followed. '93 is certainly a valid date, though...but could anyone have predicted after that home loss to the Cardinals in Week 2 that it would start such a run of inter-generational ineptitude? The Skins had many chances to right the ship since then. Norv didn't exactly set the world on fire but the team improved in 96-97 before that 0-7 start in '98, which probably should have cost him his job. But in '99 they actually won the division, so who knows? Sure, Dan was always breathing down Norv's neck starting in '99 and then finally canning him in '00, but if he had at least left Schottzy alone to coach for another year things would likely have been different. All of the decisions made since then have only piled more stock cars onto the trainwreck, because it showed how petty and meddling Snyder really was.
  20. Very true, and unfortunately this is one of the problems we have with accountability in society. Most people DO believe someone when they take responsibility because it sounds good, but toxic narcissists like Snyder are excellent at telling people what they want to hear and then doing nothing. The hirings of Wright and others were pretty much forced on Snyder in an effort to distract people from his despicable behavior. One thing that gets me from the report is it was reported for the umpteenth time that employees are not allowed to look Snyder in the eye. Many others have said this over the years, but the media doesn't really take it seriously. I've heard sports talk guys like Doc Walker say they can't really believe that someone would do that. WHY NOT? Why is it so hard to believe that a petty billionaire would be so narcissistic and inhuman? Because people STILL want to give him the benefit of the doubt...
  21. This isn't going to go away. Carrot Top (Roger Goodell) will have a hard time explaining if he ignores these lawyers: Attorneys call for Dan Snyder to be suspended, NFL to launch investigation https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2020/aug/27/attorneys-call-dan-snyder-be-suspended-nfl-launch-/ In a letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, attorneys Lisa J. Banks and Debra Katz said Snyder “has been permitted to lead an organization that has been permeated with misogyny, sexual harassment and routine abuse of female employees with impunity.” The attorneys said their clients were subjected to sexual harassment, sexism and abuse at the “highest levels of the organization, including by owner Dan Snyder.” Banks and Katz called on the league to launch a separate investigation from the one being conducted by attorney Beth Wilkinson. And they want Snyder suspended pending the outcome. Banks and Katz said their clients “do not feel safe” in speaking to investigators hired by Snyder, adding that the clients don’t trust the current investigation. They called on the NFL to also direct Snyder from taking legal action against anyone willing to come forward and for the team to release anyone subjected to a non-disclosure agreement.
  22. Not to sound too negative, but the media all said the same thing when Brian Lafemina was hired a couple of years back...didn't end well. We all thought it was Bruce Allen who forced him out...but maybe it was Snyder all along, who definitely doesn't like to hear things he doesn't agree with. Snyder is a textbook example of toxic leadership.
  23. Sad but true. And this is typical of people who bully their way into positions of power. After all, Snyder made his millions by running a telemarketing firm that was later shut down by the FBI for fraud (after he sold it, of course). Why would he change, when what he did to get him here worked so well? It would take a monumental event to get people like Snyder to change, but in order to do so they have to be able to look at themselves in the mirror and say "I'm part of the problem." Unfortunately, narcissists like Snyder and Trump NEVER look in the mirror. (Not trying to get political, but Trump clearly has all of the traits of narcissistic personality disorder. Snyder may not be a full-blown narcissist, but he hasn't really shown any inclination to take responsibility for the things that have gone wrong in DC. He's only made changes when his bottom line was threatened.) Personally, I think the cheerleader story from 2018 should have outraged more people than it did. Where was NOW when this happened? Haven't heard a peep out of NOW even after the latest allegations, which unfortunately is hampered by the fact that 14 of the women continue to remain anonymous. Snyder may not have harassed anyone personally, but he had to have been aware of it and implicitly condone it by not acting to correct it. Using NDAs to silence people, even about valid EEO issues, is one of the hallmarks of a toxic organization.\ And to think we all thought things would get better after Bruce Allen left...
