I bet a bidding war opens up, and for a guy who was studying for college finals and hadn't started a game in years could be making starter money...unbelievable. Just shows you how ridiculous the QB position has gotten.
Lmao he's not getting starter money. He's getting signed as backup competition either here or somewhere else.

Got to hope it’s Lance we like
It is. They’re very high on his upside and Ron prefers someone with mobility

All of you who are sneering at Watson are stupid. He’s a franchise changing QB.

I just think it's too much precious capitol for the WFT, given they really need the draft to supplement the upcoming big contracts in a couple years
They can afford to pay their core players if they’re savvy with the cap. Watson is a borderline elite QB who would keep us in contention year in and year out.

I would love to have Dak on this team. But I don't see a scenario where this happens without Smith retiring. Is it possible for us to keep Darby, Scherff, sign Dak, add a WR and a quality LB like Lavonte David?
Smith needs to retire or get cut regardless of what we do at QB

Nobody ****ing does this. Everyone knows about the sexual harassment and lawsuits. We’re just happy despite Dan.

I mentioned last week that I didn't want the team to win the division. Nothing against the players or coaches, but all this does is allow Snyder to print the t-shirts and claim "culture change" for a couple years. His 3 division titles have shared 3 characteristics...
1) Down year for the division
2) Require a fortunate second-half surge (started 3-6 in 2012, started 5-7 in 2015, and started 2-7 in 2020)
3) Generally mark the high-water mark of the coach's tenure
We will see about #3, but I hate that Snyder can now massage the numbers to claim something like "we've won 3 of the last 8 division titles in the East" to distract from his horrible leadership and predatory nature.
Are you this miserable in real life

How?
You can’t make a lateral hire in the NFL unless the team allows you to. The Seahawks won’t let their prized GM go.

The Seahawks will just block them. So there’s the end of that.

I want Schoen but he will be in high demand as he is well respected around the league.
We may have an in with his familiarity and respect for Rivera but is Ron willing to give up control of who we select in the draft and free agency? Other teams will be offering him full control. To compete we may well need to do the same.
Also does the uncertainty caused by the minority ownership fight and the ongoing investigation of Snyder by the league make us a less than desirable destination even with Rivera present?
That said I would move heaven and earth to get Schoen or someone with his credentials to run the front office. Rivera needs to focus on coaching- that is his area of expertise. We need someone equally adept in running an organization to work alongside of him.
Ron is close with the Bills FO. That gives us an advantage off the bat.

Okay I’d be totally down with hiring Schoen and then bringing Hurney along as a scout

Ron should be fired if he goes with Hurney as GM

But here's the thing... There is a world where that quarterback could be Kyle Allen or Alex Smith.
No there isn’t. There is no world where one legged Alex Smith or noodle arm Kyle Allen are viable QB options in 2021. It’s nuts how much you’re trying to tear down Stafford who’s a proven top QB but are trying to rationalize guys who literally have not done ****.

Are you not seeing how much better Washington is from last year, now that Smith is back?
People thought Colt McCoy was shot, too, and he wasn't. I don't buy all the stupid sports talk media drama. These guys can still play, they just need to rebuild their confidence in a good situation.
Do you even watch the ****ing games or do you just look at the standings and make your own conclusions?

Isn't that the whole point? Winning? Alex Smith seems to be pretty ****ing good at it. This team was 6 - 3 before he got hurt, then they didn't win for 2 years. And now they're finally winning again, now that Smith is back. Coincidence? Bull****. You guys are too infatuated with QB ratings and passing yards.
There is no way that I would replace Smith with Stafford, not with Stafford's price tag.
“HURR DURR QB WINZ”
Smith was never the ****ing reason we won. It was all the defense. He’s literally one of the bottom QBs this year.

No one is making that argument. Smith or Allen should be the starting QB for the next two years. Washington can be very competitive with these guys as QB.
If you are looking for a future QB beyond that, look for someone who has been a bust on other teams, like Rosen, Mariotta, or Wentz.
You’re on drugs if you think any of those guys are getting us anywhere, unless Wentz returns to previous form. Mariota? Are you not seeing how much better the Titans were JUST by switching him out for Tannehill?

Also, I would like to add in that prior to the start of next season, Stafford will be the same age as Donovan Mcnabb was when we traded for him.
Wrong actually. Stafford would be almost 33 and still in his prime vs 35 and obviously washed up when we traded for McNabb
6 minutes ago, jnhutchi3 said:Good point. And McNabb had a lot more playoff success than Stafford has so far.
Wins aren’t a QB stat

This forum has a serious issue comprehending how the modern NFL works. I seriously don’t don’t understand how people are okay with Josh ****ing Rosen or Haskins as our starting QB just because they’re young but someone who’s borderline top 10 in Stafford would “ruin” this team.

Yeah, people said the same thing about Jim Plunkett, and then he won two Super Bowls with the Raiders.
Rosen has had like 5 different coaches in the 3 years that he has been in the league. I don't feel that he has been given a fair shot and it's ridiculous to say with certainty that he is done. I would much rather take a shot with a young guy that you can get dirt cheap like Rosen than someone like Stafford, who is going to cost a fortune and who's best years are probably behind him. I would rather try to stick it out with Smith for a couple of more years.
Rosen is 100% done. Players don’t magically get better in this “what have you done for me lately” league

How is anyone seriously suggesting Dalton or Haskins as a starter next year

He didn’t do this when Kirk DJax and Garçon were gone. Scott is doing a better job scheming inferior talent (outside of Terry) open right now
