  1. Brilliant read he's one of the rare ones that just comes off as a genuinely good dude. In his position I can't say I'd be arsed to think I owe anyone other than my family an explanation. Some say he's overrated but IMO he's a world class center back. Shame it didn't work out for him at United and Rio's decline coincided with his coming into his own at Barca. He would have stepped in and done just as well IMO and would probably be the club captain right now.
  2. He was stuck behind the best center back duo of the Premier League era but he was always a hot prospect.
  3. Mourinho has arguably done better (in Europe for sure) with less talent than he has with teams full of superstars.
  4. Pep routinely dookies all over himself in CL knockout away matches. Camp Nou and Bernabeu were just as magical a few years back.
  5. City **** themselves when their manager played the exact same way that has been getting the breaks beat off his teams not just at Anfield but over the past few years in Europe in general. Every time he plays like that the result will be the same.
  6. Atmosphere makes a difference, but that game could have been played in front of 500,000 City fans and it would have ended the same.
  7. Yeah I'll still take Ronaldo over Salah and that doesn't disparage Salah in any way shape or form.
  8. I'm pretty sure Bayern will get a fair price either way. So next week it is then. Not sure I'll even get to watch with our spring game that day which will probably be one of the most emotional days of my life. More hard lessons in perspective I suppose.
  9. Why do so many English players have the football IQ of a goldfish?
  10. You know the Warriors are a true dynasty when people try their hardest to convince themselves their reign is over.
  11. Both follow the premise that it's the police's job to protect and not harm citizens. Isn't that a reasonable expectation? What does one have to do with the other?
  12. Martial was unstoppable at times when he was deployed as a number 9 his first season at United. I don't think his relative decline is his fault he's a brilliant player.
  13. Interesting relationship between L1 and the Premier League. It seems like PL mid-table teams are able to do incredible business buying legitimate top talent for peanuts and then flipping it. If I was any big club bar Real, Barca and Bayern who can buy almost anyone at the drop of a hat, I'm looking for the next Kante before he gets to Leicester.
  14. I'll take Fekir in a heartbeat. Ndombele looks like a good one too.
  15. Neymar is hurt so you can't really have him on that list but Ronaldo is still better. Third best player in the world for Salah is definitely a conversation you can have right now.
  16. He's on the tier below Ronaldo/Messi/Neymar. Arguably the top name on that tier on current form. No shame in it and 365 days ago you'd have called me a lunatic for saying that. The player he compares to the most imo is a prime Robben or Overmars.
  17. There's no way around the need for two way midfielders at the very top European football at the moment. If you want to have a deep lying playmaker in front of the back four you have to have two mobile midfielders in front of him that can carry the ball and break up attacks, especially in the premier league. Number 10s that drift about are out and the back 4 shield that can do f all with the ball at his feet are out. Too bad our manager is stuck in 2008.
  18. A Man Utd fan says if Essien actually knew how to clear a ball the referee wouldn't have mattered and United would have won 2 straight CLs.
  19. He's 20 years old and hasn't played a full NBA season. 0 worry.
  20. Your handle is a reminder that there are always going to be big time free agents and it might pay to be a little more patient.
  21. Any other Lakers fans in here? This team at the moment (even though they'll probably lose tonight) is just so great to watch. I hope every member if this young core is kept around including Julius Randle. They're not just a collection of young talent either as they can play some beautiful team basketball when they're on. I'm not sure I'd jump on the big free agents this year, especially if it means giving up Ingram, Ball, Kuzma or Randle. If you bring LeBron in next season and have to give up a couple of guys you're setting yourself up to be in rebuilding mode in the near future. Hopefully they let these guys continue to develop and set up for long term success. Shame IT won't resign to play in the role he's playing right now.
  22. Returning to Manchester for a visit is #1 on my bucket but seeing Liverpool is right up there too. England is a little like California in my eyes. Beautiful north populated by genuinely good people, and a lot to do in the south if you can tolerate the plastic schmucks.
