  1. If we’re planning on holding onto Allen then it would make sense to lock him up now long term before he gets big time stats in a 4-3. They gonna be double teaming young and sweat off the edge and keeping everyone contained in the middle of the field and those fatboys in the middle are gonna eat em up all day.
  2. And I don’t think it’s a bad strategy in the least. But if someone did come along and offer you a first, even a late first, would you consider it? Would having Allen on that line make this a better team than, say, drafting a Josh Jones or Justin Jefferson or some other elite talent with the initials of JJ (I swear that was coincidence)? Its merely just a discussion.
  3. I’m not saying they would trade him because of performance reasons. Only because he’s not far off from a massive payday and we already have a lot of talent on the DL once Young is signed. Can we find a way to keep them all? Who knows.
  4. I think some of those concerns have been quelled but who knows? I also don’t think he’s down in the pecking order much like how Buckner wasn’t in SF, but when you have that much talent at one position you know you can’t pay them all. Doesn’t mean you’d give him away as there would, I imagine, be numerous teams interested not to mention we wouldn’t exactly be in a position where we have to trade him ala Trent. And again, I like him and I’m not advocating for him being traded. I’m just saying out of all the DL we have he seems the likeliest. If we were able to keep them all down the road I’m all for that as he is a phenomenal player. And theoretically we could keep him for four more years with FT. Just because you wanna keep em all though doesn’t mean you can.
  5. Mostly because of fears of arthritic shoulder woes preventing him from a long career, which also adds into the idea that trading him now, while not ideal, may be the best for the long run. He ended up being the 4th DE taken solely due to those concerns.
  6. Would you take a first for him? Somewhere in the 17-25 range? Just curious.
  7. You are correct. My mistake. However, I don’t think his career has been that much better. It has been better, don’t get me wrong, but technically Allen has only played two seasons. Compare those to Deforest’s first two seasons and they’re very similar not to mention Buck’s been in a 4-3 his entire nfl career. I’m almost talking myself out of the idea of trading him lol. BUT... Armsteads contract is what scares me. He’s been fairly underwhelming in his career yet signed a deal that pays him an average of 17 per.
  8. -In two years after his 4th and 5th years are done, 15-17 is gonna be fringe top 10 money at DT. -Criteria based on outside of Derrick Brown He is the most complete DT. Perhaps you can make a case for Kinlaw, it either way at worse he’s a top 15 player. What’s more is he’s proven he’s capable of succeeding in the nfl. - 100% true. However, there is a difference between good depth and rotation and potentially having a quarter of your cap dedicated to your front 4. Brantley and Settle at their cost is just as efficient as Allen at his potential costs. I’m not saying they’re better. They’re not. But the amount of cap space dedicated to them in relation to their production makes them just as valuable. - if that’s the case then hold onto him. But if Armstead, who hasn’t had nearly the career that Allen has had, can be had for the 13th pick in the draft then I bet we could get more.
  9. I’m not advocating for it, I just see why he would be the most likely of the three to be traded.
  10. Think about it. - He’s about to go into year 4 and will be demanding a contract of 15-17 a year. - He’d be either the best or second best DT in the draft warranting top ten consideration - We have a stacked line already with Ion, Payne, Settle, Young and Sweat. We can’t pay everyone - We need the draft capital
  11. My bold prediction is Allen gets traded at the draft.
  12. There's literally no reason to assume he's the next Josh Gordon. I admit at first I was down with trading down and getting more picks but now, with the exception of being able to nab Simmons and a boatload of extra picks, I'm much more content with the idea of Chase being there at 2 for us. Especially with no ability for players to work out or get any in person face to face time, I'd rather go with the absolute sure thing than buy a bunch of lottery tickets. I don't know why anyone would be so anti Chase that they'd be ok with slandering his name and morals.
  13. Totally makes sense I got an A-. I didn't grab Young and didn't need Burrow at 28 (LOLLLLL), but it is what it is. Your score is: 39343 (GRADE: A-)Your Picks:Round 1 Pick 12 (L.V.): Andrew Thomas, OT, Georgia (A)Round 1 Pick 28 (BALT): Joe Burrow, QB, LSU (A+)Round 2 Pick 24 (MIA): Patrick Queen, ILB, LSU (A+)Round 2 Pick 28 (BALT): D'Andre Swift, RB, Georgia (A+)Round 3 Pick 2: Robert Hunt, OT/OG, Louisiana (A)Round 4 Pick 2: Tyler Johnson, WR, Minnesota (A+)Round 4 Pick 36 (COMP): Thaddeus Moss, TE, LSU (A+)Round 5 Pick 16: Reggie Robinson II, CB, Tulsa (A+)Round 7 Pick 2: Shyheim Carter, FS, Alabama (A+)Round 7 Pick 15: Shaquille Quarterman, ILB/OLB, Miami (Fla.) 14. Maybe that’s what I meant. He can read the play but sometimes gets overexcited instead of playing the position.
  15. Yeah I don’t see the love for Kenneth Murray. I want my LBs to be incredibly instinctual and he doesn’t seem to be that. Also, it feels like Miami is having a “if he drops to 5 we’ll take him otherwise we don’t” approach to Tua. Maybe they would be willing to part with a second to move up a spot or two to get him but I can’t see them sacrificing one of their other firsts.
  16. You do, but at the end of the day, having a bust QB at 2 is more detrimental to a team than a bust DE at 2.
  17. Nor is Trubisky and he went #2 Also, I personally feel The #2 pick is worth more as a trade down value than Tua. I see it as: 1) Young 2) Trade down 3) Tua i would much rather have Herbert, #18 pick and another pick in the 2nd than Tua
  18. Except Trent plays a position where you don't fall off a cliff at 30. Corners are all toast by 30 at the latest. Even Patrick Peterson feels like in major decline and he's younger than Slay! If Detroit wants Tua, i'll flip with them and take their 2nd. There needs to be a guarantee in the trade though. I don't even know if that's something they're allowed to do.
  19. At 29 and on the last year of his deal, I don't really see the point of Slay. Dude is gonna want 13-15 per year MINIMUM for his early 30 years. We've been down that road before. No thanks. If anything I can see Slay being traded to a team like KC or Philly.
  20. They need storylines and having both 1 and 2 set months in advance doesn't make for riveting television.
