Upon arrival Rivera was welcomed with a ****storm of a magnitude that only this franchise can create; the name change, sexual misconduct allegations against upper management, disgruntled players (TW, Dunbar), a roster of subpar talent, and then the cancer news and treatment to top it off.
Yet somehow we sit here at 2-5 and have a unified team under this man. The volume that speaks...

We’re running a poor mans jay gruden offense and it’s getting old quick.
i can excuse the first few weeks because of the new offense/Covid offseason thing, but now we’re into the heart of the season and we’re seeing the same vanilla bull****. On top of it, we’re seeing so many mental errors and guys seeming like they don’t know the playbook.
I don’t put any of this on Ron up to this point, but he had better make it clear to Scott that we need to change it up.
Crazy, innovative idea incoming- maybe one time we don’t run it up the gut on 1st down and we go play action.
-
This is where our concern should lie. We all knew coming into the season that talent on the offensive side of the ball was limited and expectations were, but what we’re seeing is trash. I’ve said it 100 times, we need a creative offense, we simply can’t win with this scheme. He’s asking our overmatched players to win one-on-one battles on every play and we’re seeing the opposite, as expected. We must get away from vanilla and get the D on their toes or nothing will change.
I hate to see Dwayne acting like a child, but this was my defense for why his play plateuad. We will learn a lot in the upcoming game if Kyle Allen is starting (I have no faith in Smith). If Allen looks bad against the giants then we know almost definitively that the qb change was indeed a mistake.
i digress... get your **** together turner.

It’s probably about time we replace APs picture on the ES home page

@Skinsinparadisegreat analogy and great points.
borderline impossible to disagree with. I guess the only difference now is the heat is turned up to a level he’s never felt before and he’s actually understanding that he could be forced to sell. Of course, this would be the wrong reason to change yourself, the motivation should come from the mountain of complaints and wrongdoings. Regardless, we can all agree this situation is different than anything he’s previously faced doesn’t touch the scope of this.
id love for him to be out, but everything he’s done this offseason with personnel hiring and public statements (I believe the skins were the first nfl team to declare they would skip practice in light of the police shooting) has been the right thing to do.
maybe this time he’s truly scared straight.
and to your analogy, I think most of us can relate, who have a friend or relative who dealt with those issues and found the road to recovery.
After writing all this I’m just going to post it even though if it came to a fan vote to out Snyder, I’d be for it.
-
Exactly @FootballZombie. We all agree that the environment and the accusations are despicable, but unless there’s proof that directly ties Snyder to this, I don’t see how he could be forced to sell.
good to see the nfl getting involved now, fingers crossed they find that damning email.

NFL needs to launch an investigation. This article is certainly damning enough to get the ball rolling. All of the “he’s a jerk owner” talk does nothing for the case, but if he requested and distributed videos of cheerleaders unknowingly being taped nude then he should absolutely be forced to sell. The thing is, right now all we have on this incidents are opinions and hearsay, the investigation needs actual proof tying Snyder to this.
i don’t think anyone doubts that the weasel would do such a thing, but we need more than finger pointing.
praying this evidence comes out and is quickly followed up by a massive civil suit by the victims.

We are ultra-thin at TE after releasing Moss.
About the same thinness. We’re throwing **** at the wall for the TE position and that one didn’t stick.

Even though it's not everything you heard or was hyped up to be, "nothing to see here"?
I’ll admit, I was expecting worse, much worse... so that certainly has something to do with that comment.

Fans: "I'm going to march to the park and demand that Dan Snyder hear my voice for betraying my trust and changing the team name!!"
Thursday
Fans: "Well, this isn't great but I don't see why Dan should be tossed for only allowing 15 harassment cases under his watch. Oh, that cheerleader thing was 3 years ago, that doesn't matter anymore"
I feel like I'm in bizarro land.
Sooo you really don’t know that the cheerleader piece was complete fabrication, written by a very biased journalist, discredited by essentially the whole cheerleading team (other than the one bitter cheerleader who didn’t make the team). DD is your friend

What a joke... this really was like getting coal on Christmas. All of those nfl analysts who piled on just to sound like they were in the loop and said they knew about this groundbreaking, franchise uprooting info must feel pretty dumb right now. No substance, no forced sell, nothing to see here.
-
Perfect josina, that’s exactly what we’ve been desperate for, “a broader perspective.”
-
It’s literally the worst time for minority shareholders to sell... they’re shares are about as low as they could possibly be. Fast forward a year, new name, new owner, talks of moving back to dc. They can’t be this shortsighted.
EDIT: unless they’ve gotten wind of the rumors and there’s truth to this taking down the nfl.

This is literally the summary of the last 40 pages of this thread... I’m hesitant to believe this guy is actually in the loop or If he just regurgitated all of the rumors in one tweet.

It's odd. The team has been silent, knowing this story is coming out, You'd think they would get ahead of it.
Agreed... putting 2 and 2 together seems like the two firings were related. Timing is way too coincidental.
-
If it really is as bad as it seems then I see it being not a possibility, but a probability that dan is forced to sell. I truly hope no one was seriously affected by whatever this wrongdoing was, but cheers to the silver lining.

Looks like Ron is boss...
I don't love it because do we hire the best talent evaluator or somebody Ron trusts? I feel like our HC is getting to much power. If he fails you have to do a full house clean.
I hear you there. I look at it this way, Rivera is a seasoned vet, he knows his system and he knows what he’s looking for in player skill sets. I’d prefer to give him more control to get players who fit his system than have someone else tell him who he will need to work with. This should avoid Much of the square-peg-round-holing which we always seem to find ourselves doing. -

It really does... and I’m not mad at that one bit. We’ve thought Snyder handed over the reins 100x in the past, but now it finally appears to be true.

Eesh this has gotten way too far off topic. I apologize for my contribution and don’t want to get into a sparring match with @Califan007... probably won’t go well for me.
lets hope this news today isn’t as bad as the beat are making it out to be. Httr.

Actually it probably is, and for the reasons you mentioned in your earlier post.
The first sentence of your previous post contradicts this statement.

The whole thing is nothing I'll debate, here or on any forum, but bottom line: Jack Del Rio is a high profile coach on a team that is very high profile with this name change, in a very volatile time. I don't care if he thinks the earth is flat or if he's about to make a breakthrough on the cure for cancer during his time off, he and every member of the team needs to be invisible until the dust settles, and preferably after it too.
100%... but u do know that your rational is not the reason why people want him fired...
-
Smh... how pumped was this whole fan base when del rio was hired? I for one was happy with the Rivera hiring but ecstatic about del rio... now he voices his opinion and people want him fired. Not because of anything job related, just because you don’t agree with his stance on a non-football related issue. Truly disappointing, That’s just not how things should work.

5th rounders don’t often turn into stud LTs, so there isn’t a ton of room for optimism... I think there’s more hope for Charles than Christian fwiw. One of the biggest problems is that we lost Callahan and TW, so I don’t know who we have that will get this kid’s head on straight.

Take a look at Derrick Brown.
Take a look at Isaiah Simmons.
Take a look at Ceedee Lamb and Jerry Jeudy.
I don't know if you're a college film guy or not... That's why I'm saying this. Sit down, get a glass of your favorite spirit, and watch these guys play for about 20 minutes each on YouTube. They are phenomenal.
I'm not taking anything away from Chase Young. He is as good of a prospect as one could expect.
But that doesn't mean there aren't other stone cold killers out there.
I don’t think that you’ll find many people here who will argue that all of those guys don’t have serious upside. The problem with trading back is you’ll only get one of the aforementioned. Even in the “dream scenario” where the dolphins give us two, even three 1sts, we’d get one stud and then there’d be a drop off by the 2nd pick. I just don’t know how we could pass up on a guy who has been an absolute freak and grades off the charts. His addition alone will upgrade the entire unit. Maaaaaybe Simmons has that potential, but even if Julio 2.0 was in this draft I’d take chase. Stud wrs are nice, but not as gamechanging as a dominant edge rusher and I like where we’re starting with McLaurin.
if somehow we could get two top 7 picks then I’d be a lot more interested in a trade, even then It would be tough. We know what we have in chase, you never know how the draft will pan out when you move out of the top 15.

A New Start! (the Reboot) The Front Office, Ownership, & Coaching Staff Thread

I was against the name change. Now I may be numb to it or something but I just don’t really care where it goes from here. Keep the football team, fine, change it to redwolves or red tails, cool, just please don’t change it to something goofy like the wizards.
