  1. I guess I might be wrong.  But I’ve always felt Ioannidis was our best interior lineman, followed by Payne, and then Allen last.  I just feel like Matt Ioannidis and Payne flash a lot more than Allen.  Allen is the best locker room guy of the three, but I feel like we have enough good character, and locker room payers now.  That’s just me though.

What in the Blue Mountain **** is going on here?  I haven’t been paying attention to any of this.  Lady, if your son is begging you to take down the page, isn’t that enough to make you want to stop?  That is your SON, you don’t have any other attachment to those people.

But whatever, it’s not my mom *shrug*

Eh, i mean when the choices are the giants, panthers, broncos, cardinals, and cowboys.....cowboys would be the best choice. I could see the cardinals being a close 2nd, but The narrative of dak returnijg from injury kinda makes them a pretty interesting choice.

    should be fun to watch

Nah, if it’s the Cowboys I definitely won’t watch.  I haven’t watched a full season of Hard Knocks in years anyway.

  4. I just caught some of Chase Young’s first press conference.  He said he’s been doing a lot of work on his feet this past offseason, because it starts from the ground up.  He’s been working on the strength of his toes especially.  He even does some of his workouts barefoot.  He’s also been very busy this off-season in terms of business and endorsements that’s one reason why he missed ota’s.  He’s also been working out just about every day despite not being at ota’s and the coaches were aware of that.

  5. It’s like I said from the beginning.  People are going to love Ryan Fitzpatrick here as a teammate and person.  What I’m focused on is how he plays.  I already know he’s an entertaining guy.  Someone on YouTube brought up his numbers in his last 8 to 10 starts and his numbers were impressive.  But I’m still in wait and see mode.  I’m not going to get dazzled by personality alone.

Actually he's LOST a LOT of weight since his rookie season.

This is a picture of him, during his rookie training camp.

Hard to tell exactly how much weight, since he's wearing a costume at the Training Camp Talent show, but still he's shed some pounds

Turner likely has the two QBs that work best for his offensive scheme.  Clearly night and day contrast from a year ago.  Turner's scheme is supposed to push the ball down field.  Last year Haskins didn't have the knowledge, nor wisdom to be capable of running the scheme.  He had no clue about reading pre-snap defenses, nor any ability to throw the ball anyway but on a line.  There was no anticipation throwing guys open.  Alex Smith basically refused to take chances unless they were playing from behind, which isn't how Turner's scheme works.  The idea of having fast and dynamic guys coming out of the backfield is supposed to create more one-on-one WR match-ups.  If your QB can't see those favorable match-ups and anticipate that advantage or refuse to take advantage of it then the scheme is inefficient.  I view the opportunity for Turner's scheme to reach it's potential this year as favorable.

    I hope so.

On Moses: We’re not going to get a straight up answer, but reading between the lines it was pretty clearly just getting younger and cheaper at the position. Moses wasn’t part of the long term plan, and we brought in some younger and/or cheaper guys to replace him, so they’re just moving on now rather than later. Creates more cap flexibility and lets other guys get first team reps.

On Scherff: They won’t admit it, but I think they’ve moved on from seriously considering a long term deal for Scherff. He doesn’t seem to particularly want to be here long term. And if they have no interest in a 30 year old Morgan Moses for 8mil, I don’t see them being interested in signing 29 year old Scherff long term for what he’s asking for, which is reportedly more like the 18mil per year he’s currently getting on the tag.

Maybe true.  But the difference is Scherff is an All pro.  I would like to keep a 29 year old All pro around.

That ping pong area was notorious for loud trash talking ruckus like behavior.

I bet Rivera walked in and did a double take as soon as he saw the vets on a perennial losing team clowning around cussing it up and generally having a good old time while sipping iced tea and playing ping pong-- not a care in the world.

He asked around and later found out it was like this all the time. Whether the team won lost or tied, the one thing you could be certain of--- the ping pong players would be playing ping pong and having a good time the next day.

He mentally took a mind picture of the scene and EVERYONE involved so that he would NEVER ever forget it.

Then he made the following decisions:

    1. The damn ping  pong table is gone asap!

    2. I need new team leaders that are serious about one thing-- winning football. Leaders that would never allow this kind of foolishness to distract from our focus. (Enter Jon Allen, Scherf and later Chase Young) Then I'll empower them to actually run the locker room not just be leaders in name only.

    3. I'll have to be patient but eventually everyone that was part of the ping pong culture is either going to retire, get traded or end up cut from the team.

Sounds like it could be all too true.  Did you get this from a reliable source?

    LT: Leno, Christian

    LG: Flowers, Charles

    OC: Roullier, Ismael

    RG: Scherff, Schweizer

    RT: Cosmi, Lucas

Most of the players who are slated to make our opening 53 on the OL are flexible. Schweizer might end up being the LG3 and RG2 on the depth chart. But to make things even and pencil players in to where I think they'll end up on the 2-deep depth chart, the above would be MY guess. I don't know if we keep 10 OL. And unless Christian makes some otherworldly progress and suddenly realizes the potential we thought he had when we drafted him, I would expect that he's on the roster bubble, with Lucas backing up both LT and RT as the swing Tackle and Charles and Flowers flexibility to kick to OT allowing us to keep 3 OTs.

I like a lot of what you said.  But Flowers doesn’t belong at the tackle position.  He’s a good guard, but a below average tackle.  We’ve seen this.

Good plan to stop hanging on to guys too long until they’re well washed up.  Maybe we can finally be a team that lets guys suck at the tail end of their careers on other teams.   Continue to build depth through the draft and filling holes with solid young free agents looking for their second contract about to enter their prime.  Great philosophy.  It only took Washington 30 years to figure this out!

Well when you hire bad coaches and clueless front office personnel, that’s what happens.

Drafting a guy like Darrick Forrest is exactly what I wanted the team to do in the 4th-6th round if we missed out on Moehrig or Holland. Some competition in camp for Jeremy Reaves, Reaves should beat him out but this is some extra motivation for him to take the position and put a stranglehold on it.

Camp competition has become a big buzz word lately.  Are we sure camp competition is as important as we think it is?  Do we really end up putting our best players out there based on competition in camp?  I’d like to think it’s true, but I’m not sure.  Maybe I’m overthinking.
