Unfortunately at this point I'm pretty much resigned to the likelihood that Scherff won't be on this team next season. I'm guessing he wants a much more guaranteed money or a much longer contract than WFT was willing to offer him (apparently they did offer to make him the highest paid Guard in the NFL but it was rejected).

I like Scherff and he's a really good player but he's a guy I might be ok with someone else overpaying instead of us, given his injury history, age and the fact that last season was really his only "elite" year out of 6 seasons.

I think he’s gone.  Especially after hearing much of what you already stated; that they offered to make him the highest paid guard and he still turned it down for whatever reason.  I’ve already started to think about what the line will look like next year without him.

Hey speaking of flowers.....haven’t heard anything about him during camp so far. Good thing or a bad thing?

My bet is that he’s a starter by the time our first regular season game comes around.  I think he’s second on the depth chart for right now.

St-Juste sounds like he’s going to make a major impact to me. Can’t wait to see how he goes.

I hope so too.  I think he has the potential.  But my thing is, he’s never caught an interception.  Once he grabs a couple, I won’t be nervous anymore.

Underrated battle in terms of importance. Haven't had significant contributions from PR's in a long time.

I’m rooting for this Carter guy to return punts.  I thought we signed a free agent to do that though?  But I think Carter out of this bunch might be best suited, from what I’m reading.

It is highly  likely that Thomas got more serious hits at VA Tech playing QB than he has as a TE for WFT. In three years he rushed 495 times for 1,332 yards, an average of under 3 yards per carry because almost all of his runs were up the middle out of the shotgun. If it was third and short, it was Thomas up the middle.

Still you’re getting hit by college players, not pro’s.  And I just saw a journalist on Washington Football Today make the sane point I did.

I think age is less important in regards to Thomas. He barely played his first 4 years in the league. Only had 35 receptions in those 4 years. And he was a QB in college so he wasnt getting beat up there either.

That would be the point I was going to make.  Not a lot of tread on the tires because he spent so much time as a QB.

I think it's going to be FASCINATING to watch what they do with the safeties in camp.  Because you have Curl and Collins who play essentially the same position.  You still have Everette, who played well until he got hurt (which he does with some regularity) and Derrick Forrest who they just drafted, but looks to be more of a special teams guy to start with.

You also have the possibility of mixing coverages and having Fuller play a little free safety.

How they mix and match (and mash?) the secondary together is going to be interesting.  I feel like they don't have a true Free Safety on the team, but depending on what they do with position groups, they might just not use one very often.

It's probably the most intriguing group to watch in camp to see what they're going to do.

Now, if Collins is not cleared and starts on PUP, that makes things a lot more clear.

Wouldn’t Bobby McCain be a good option at free safety?

I’m excited about so many things for this year. I just had a flashback of week 1 last year when some guy in a #31 Jersey knifed into the backfield and blew up a swing or screen pass to perfection and I was like whoa who was that. Then I kept seeing a few plays a game like that from him til we all knew his name.

Excited to see both vets and rookies step up this year in such a prove it/earn it system.

I’m really excited to watch Curl this year.  I’m wondering about the sophomore slump, because I’m one of those people that believes in the sophomore slump.  But this guy has so much promise and plays so hard, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him play better than he did last year.  He’s one of my top three players to watch this year.

On top of that, if St. Juste (or one of the other CB's on the roster) can be as good as Fabian Moreau then we upgraded at CB as well.  If he's better than Fabian, then all the better.

I think he will be better than Fabian and I liked Fabian in the role he had here.  Juste has that size and flex position as a DB.

Totally random, but I have a baseball signed by Big John Studd that he hit out of Howrey Field in Annandale, VA over Braddock Rd after one of my Little League games. Must've been 600 ft in the air. Dude was a monster!

Im proud of myself for remembering Big John Studd.  Amazing story.

Who's a *guard*.  Seriously, the fact that he's our only all-pro is worse than losing him, especially if he wants to be paid like a guy who makes spectacular catches, shuts down the opponent's #1 receiver, or wreaks havoc on opposing QBs.  How much more impact would he have than the OG we take with our #1 in next year's draft?  That $18+ mil can be better spent elsewhere.  Get over it.  Scherff has.

Don’t tell me what to get over, you don’t know how devastated I am or am not.  I don’t like losing an All Pro no matter what position.  Is he replaceable?  He probably is replaceable, but will we ever fill that void with the same caliber player?

Take your frustration out on Scherff.  I’m saying what needs to be said.
