    Personally, SiP wins.

While not with the Commanders, EB, Wylie and Ron Rivera have had season you could call a success.  I don't think you could convince me Sam Darnold has something to hang his hat on (outside of getting paid for said failures).

I think the question was who is down on the player/coach more not who was worst at their job.

i would vote for @Voice_of_Reason if only due to length of time hating Jay. lol. Although @88Comrade2000 would be a close 2nd!!   😂😂😂😂

FA season is already a success with Russell Wilson signing with Pitts and Kirk Cousins signing with Atlanta. They can't come here. That is addition by avoidance. Also means they always intended on drafting one of the QBs left at #2 which is perfect.      Like the Center signing.

Team showing patience which is awesome.

Biden is spreading $442 billion across the US. The impact could be greatest where he’s least popular.

Two of Joe Biden's signature laws appear all but certain to have the most impact in rural corners of the country that are far from the President's likely base of voters this November.

To better understand where two laws are having the most impact, Yahoo Finance pored over the thousands of lines of detailed data recently released by the White House.

The federal government has spent about $442 billion thus far on President Biden’s signature laws — the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act.

But where that $442 billion (so far) will have the most impact are in places where voters are least likely to support Joe Biden in November, according to a new Yahoo Finance analysis of the latest White House data.

The largest recipients of funds approved by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act — when measured per capita — are four states that Biden himself lost by at least 10 points in 2020: Alaska, Montana, North Dakota, and Wyoming.

Of the 18 states where residents are set to benefit the most from the money on a per capita basis, 12 were won by Donald Trump in 2020.

This geographic quirk highlights one of President Joe Biden’s most persistent election-year challenges: Americans who aren’t feeling — or are simply unimpressed — by his signature accomplishments after three years in office.

In just one remarkable recent example, a Bloomberg News/Morning Consult poll found that Donald Trump won by a tally of 42% to 38% on the question of whom voters most trust to handle infrastructure.

That’s even after Biden signed a landmark infrastructure bill into law in 2021 and after four years in office that saw Trump take no significant action on the issue.

Totally sad how these people have been brainwashed into believing right wing rhetoric to thier own detriment. You know if trump and other magats get in power they will reverse all these programs and the people most negatively impacted will cheer them on. What a stupid place we have gotten in our society.

Yeah, I meant to go back and correct myself.  I was wrong about that.

But there is a team related cap thing, they don't actually get the savings until June 1, I think.  And on this, I'm pretty sure I'm right about...

There is. I put in my comment. The team gets a roster spot but has to keep the CAP hit on the books until June 1. So when they go to rule of 51 they have to include tht CAP to thier total.

If they don't like Maye or Daniels, then they have 2 options:

    1. Trade up for Williams if they like him

    2. Trade down and don't pick a starting QB at all, or at least not one you think is going to be a future franchise guy.  Because if you don't like Maye/Daniels because you don't have a good enough feeling they could be a franchise guy, there's just no world in which there is a higher likelihood one of the next tier is going to be that guy.  It COULD happen.  It happens about 4 times in a decade when a player picked outside the first round becomes a franchise QB.  Wilson, Cousins, Hurts (second round), Dak, Purdy.  I might be missing somebody, but I'm not missing many.  What has to happen is basically every team has to blow the evaluation, and then you have to get lucky.

Something interesting about the late round guys who became starters:

    - Russell Wilson: He was drafted to be the backup, maybe compete for the starter... The Seahawks had just signed Matt Flynn to be the starting QB, signing him to a 3 year, $19m deal.  In 2012, that was a pretty good sized contract. Russell won the job, but he wasn't drafted to be the starter.

    - Cousins: He was drafted to be the backup to Griffin

    - Hurts: He was drafted while they had Wentz.  He wasn't forced to play right away, and there was no thought he would be the immediate starter.

    - Dak: Dallas still had Romo when they drafted Dak.  He wasn't drafted to be the immediate starter.

    - Purdy: He was drafted as Mr. Irrelevant when the 49ers still thought they had a guy in Trey Lance as the starter.

    - Brady: going way back, they had Bledsoe as the starter.  Brady wasn't drafted to start.  He was drafted to be a backup.

The only second round QB I can think of who was definitively drafted to be a starter pretty quickly was Drew Brees.  And that didn't go well for a few years.  To the point where he was bad enough the chargers picked Eli, and then traded him to the Giants to get Rivers.  Then Brees blossomed, got hurt, went to New Orleans, won a SB and has hotel reservations for his HOF induction in 2026.

But the whole "trade down and get a guy" thing hasn't worked.  I'm sure there's somebody I'm missing, and somebody is going to post "but you forgot about THAT GUY!"  But the point is, it's not very likely.

And we don't have a starter penciled in to pick the later round QB.  So history would tell us, trading down and expecting tier 2 QBs like McCarthy, Penix or Nix to pan out as a starter, not going to happen.

This assumes the teams grades on these QBs are the same as yours and others. They likely are. But no gaurantees. You could bring back Brissett and draft one of the so called 2nd tier QBs. I do not think it's good idea as I am mistly alighned with you. But until it happens all possibilites are there.

I think there is a 90% chance they take one Maye or Daniels.

I don’t think he can sign until after June 1st.  But I could be wrong about that.

The player can sign immediately after being released even if a June 1st designation. It's actually why they created that designation. This allows the player to sign early. Also, the team opens a roster spot however the CAP hit stays until June 1. So it provides the team long term CAP relief but not immediate relief. I do NOT want to sign RW but he could sign anywhere once released, even if designated June 1st.

I want no part of RW or KC. If they are not in love with Maye/Daniels then trade back and look at Nix or McCarthy, someone in that tier. Let Sam H compete with them or bring Jacoby Brissett back as a mentor.

you gotta really hate a guy to pay him that much to go away… jeebus is right.

That translates to an additonal $49.6M CAP hit this season. Wow, that is a lot of hate!

But I still would not want him here. Wrong side of his career and we need to be thinking long term. He would be another band-aid.

I also would not want to trade up for WIlliams. He is better than Maye and Daniels in terms of measurables but I am not sure about the space between his ears and really would not want them giving up the amount of capitol it would take. Not sure he is that much better. Decide between Maye and Daniels (right now I see them as a coin toss but for different reasons). Then build the rest of your roster.

  7. I am very glad they are providing much relief from these student loans. However, I am still not seeing what they plan to do to keep us from getting in the same position in 5 to 10 yrs. Banks and Universities have to be held more accountable. Universities push and advocate student loans to increase thier income with little to no concern for what degree the student is getting or capable of getting and them giving no support once they either stop gonig to school or graduate leaving them with this massive obligation and little to no way to repay it. Not relieving the students from responsibility. They need to be more educated on the consequences of taking out the loans. Maybe a mandatory class on managhing money before recieving funds.

  8. This is the culture we need. (Looks like youj have to watch it on Youtube). I started following the Redskins when they hired Vince Lombardi. But it was George Allens Redskins that got me hooked. This team was so awesome to watch and root for.

I actually got to meet a few of those players. Chris Hanburger and Mike Bass came to our school when I was about 10 (1970). Then Larry Brown came to the bar I worked at - it was obviously after his playing time but wow, it was so awesome to meet him. He had a short meeting for business and then left.

Fun to watch the hits that were so legal then but would get a falg, fine and likely a suspension now!  🙂  But the culture among the players was what we need again today. That type of tgeamwork is timeless.

  9. This really seems to be do we get the BIlls version or the Giants version of Bobby Johnson. There can be a lot of internal things going on keeping Johnson from doing the job he wanted to do. Just because Dabol brought him does not mean they didn't start to disgree as the **** went bad in NY. I am willnig to give them the benitift of the doubt for now (as if my opinion matters - LOL). But I would be lying if I said I was not concerned about the ffesnive side of the call, Quinns weakness already.

Not a huge fan of the K Kingsbury hire and this is a real head scratcher. But maybe this is the magic combination We will see soon enough. The draft may give some indication. We will see.

I think its a reflection of time passing mainly. However, anyone who knows the guys who have multiple rings has to mention Joe. The odd thing is people will mention  Parcells and forget Joe has three. Finally, I think BB's 6, combined with Reid's recent run, means people forget Joe.

The best part of that is Bill Parcells said Joe Gibbs was the best coach he ever coached against. Also not talked about muich wsa not only did Joe do it with 3 different starting QB, he did it with mulpible RBs. Riggins retired after 1985. Timmy Smth anyone?

According to NFL.com "Chicago would need a historic haul of draft picks and overall compensation to move off the first pick of the 2024 NFL Draft"

I seriously doubt Peters will go down that snyderesque road (for an immature diva, sorry couldn't help it ;)).

Just to be clear - as it seems it may not be - I was in no way suggesting the team trade for Caleb WIlliams. I was simply listing options the team had and that Doug gave no indications of that direction.

I will add that Chicago can want what ever. But getting someone to pay it is another thing all together. They can't trade past #3 NE if they want MH JR. AZ will run to the podium (easy now you literalists - I mean it figuratively) and put in thier pick at 4 for MH JR.  Both Washington and NE have new HCs and GMs. (I am about to agree with you here) Do either one want to start thier regime off mortgaging the next few drafts top capitol on this one player? And one that has ????s.

The ultimate question is, is Caleb WIlliams a kings ransom better than Maye or Daniels? I do not think so at all. In fact I kind of like both better than WIlliams. And all this is assuming that Kliff K wants Caleb. He might be glad the brat is gone 🙂  He may be in love with Maye or Daniels.

I can't wait for the draft like always. It's Xmas in April!  But even more important this year for obvious reasons.

Very good point. Maybe I feel like he could have just given a simpler, yet concise answer. It gave off the feel of he just wanted to say something to sound like he has some type of intimate details about what AP is gonna do and it rubbed me the wrong way tbh.

Just don't see Doug as being that kind of guy. But if it hit you wrong, fair enough.

Doug Williams out here with the "leaks" again. Even though its obvious that we are taking a QB at #2, the fact that he's talking about it on national television feels like he's messing up whatever leverage we have with our pick. Seems like there is always someone in that building that is trying to shoot us in the foot...

Not exactly a national secret the team is going QB at #2 and possibly even going to #1. He gave nothing away. In fact he did not say they were taking a QB. He said they were in a good spot because there are three QBs there. People are jumping to the conclusion that means the team is gonig QB at #2. That could also mean they are fielding offers from other teams desperate for a QB. Not to mention tis the season of lying.

For those interested you can take a quick poll on your initial impressions of our new coaching triumvirate.

They ask respondents to give a letter grade (A thru F) for each hire, Quinn, Whitt and Kingsburry.

    Poll below

    https://www.hogshaven.com/platform/amp/2024/2/6/24063475/washington-reacts-survey-the-commanders-coaching-hires

    I gave Quinn a B.

    Whitt an A.

    Kingsbury an A.

Glad I was not the only one who could not get it to submit.

I did fill them in and gave the following:

Dan Quinn - B - His Atlanta tenure did not end well and you can see the argument that after his superstar staff left after the SB he did not fare well. However, he is very smart guy, has the right kind of leadship skills, is very well respected by both coaches and players and seems to be very self-aware - knows his mistakes and is determined not to repeat them. And sans the last game the Dallas defenses under him have been brutal. I am cautiously optomistic. Can't call this an A but his experience alone gives him a B.

Kliff Kingsbury - C - My least enthusiatic hire. He has never actually been an Offensive Coordinater in the NFL, at least not that I can tell. He may have been responsible for the offence in AZ but he was the HC, meaning he was not able to put the kind of energy into it he should have. And it's not like that offense was great while he was there. But he seems to have some decent schemes and maybe given just the OC duties he can focus more and be successful.

Joe Whitt Jr - B+ - I honestly knew nothing about him until word started circling he would be the hire. So this is all from what I have learned since then. He comes from coaching lineage (His father coached Auburn for 25 yrs, something I should have put together). He choose to follow Dan Quinn who has brought him with him from Atl then to Dal now here. The Dallas secondary last year was very good to great. They were disciplined and ball hawking. Yes, the last game did not go so well. But one game does not make a career - or it should not. He appears to be on the rise and his players will run through walls for him. His greatest endorsment for me is from Charles Woodson CB from GB who turned into a Pro Bowl CB under Joe Whitt -   "I 100% and whole heartedly vouch for Joe Whitt Jr. for any team out there needing to fill their staff.. Great teacher, and coach, that players can trust.. hard to find that combo,"

Shanny didn’t retire. He was fired from Denver after the 2008 season. He took a year off was pursed by Dan and Buffalo during the fall of 2009. Dan landed him for 2010 season.

Fair, he was no in retirement when Dan hired him but he did retire after Washington. Point remains he was not looknig for a job. But good job, you found one mistake.

  16. 6 hours ago, SkinsFTW said:

So with Ron Rivera now gone and probably not rehired as a coordinator Doofus Dan's streak is finally going to be finalized. This team has been so bad that no head coach hired by Snyder since Marty Schottenheimer has ever been hired as a HC or even a OC or DC position.

    That is quite the achievement!

I love a good dan bashing like anyone. But your statemenbt is not exactly accurate: After Marty:

Steve Spurrier - went back to college as a HC and was extermely successful resurrecting a SC program that was very pedestrian - it was Lou Holtz last years. Spurrier had a .671 winning %. He was not loking for a NFL job.

Joe Gibbs - He retired. Was not looking for a football job. Went back to racing. He could have had a job if he wanted it.

Jim Zorn - Not a OC but a QBs coach for the Ravens and Chiefs - He really should never have been a HC. I give you that. But he was back in coaching after here.

Mike Shannahan - Took a year out of fotoball afdter Dewnver before being hired by Dan. But then retired so was not looking for a NFL job. He could have had a job if he really wanted it.

Jay Gruden - OC for Jacksonville and an Offensive Consultant for the Rams in 2022

Bill Callahan - He was just an interim coach - and he went back to be an offensive line coach for ther Browns and and now with the Titans. So back into the NFL as a coach.

Ron Rivera - He just got fired. Still a lot of time. Probably not for DC this year. But who knows. He is very well respected in the NFL even if the fans here hate him.

Again, I hate Dan S with every fiber of my being. He stole almost 30 yrs of fandome from me with his bull****. Total pond scum. But the narrative that none of his HCs got hired anywhere else is misleading at best. Some did and others simply did not want to coach any more.

Moving on to the new coaches - I like it. KK is an interested  hre. Know as a offesnive guy but have never actually been an OC except 1 yr at Tewxas A&M. But has been a HC in both college and the NFL. Whitt is an unknown but Quin  clearly thinks very highly of him. And he knows they can work together. That's important.

Again, I will keep saying it, Quin was not my first choice. In fact I was hating the idea early. But I think I am coming around - at least to luke warm.

  17. I have not read all the stuff about Ben Johnson but I think I read enough to believe the team dodged a bullet. This is not revisionist history, I honestly believe that. This is 2 yrs in a row he has "pulled out of jobs" when they seemed to be his for the taking. And this year, two teams, not just one, stated he did not interview well and his asking price was pretty high. Him saying the team is run by basketball people is just childish and not true. Adam Peters has more football knowledge than Ben by far. And there were a few other football people in the room. And to annouce he was dropping out while they werre in flight with a text is not what professionals do. He could have waiting the hour or so for them to land and get thme on the phone and tell them personally, thanks but no thanks. Not typically a good idea to burn bridges in the NFL and he has burned 3 teams at least. I said before this sounding like a Josh McDaniels thing and it looks like the case is being made.

Now, Washington leaking details is not cool either. Would guess they would liek to have that one back. My guess is it came from some of the aperatus left over from the snyder era. Weed them out and stop the leaks.

Who knows if Quinn will be successful here. I like his leadership on the outside. But his last few Atalnta teams under performed. People can learn from mistakes. Let's see if he learned from his. He will have some very highly motivated people to help him and plenty of resources - 2nd pick and other draft picks and a ton of cap.

  18. Quinn was not my first choice but this idea that's just more of the same as under dan is silly and an overreaction. Quinn is a qualified candidate. He went to a SB and if Kyle had not insisted on throwing with that huge lead the Patriots never come back. Well and Ryan has to make a better decisions.

Admittedly feels like a slight step above Ron R. But he would not be the first to learn from his first run. Going into this with an open mind. And he gets to start with a #2 pick and lots of CAP space.

  19. Just throwing this out there - is it possible there is someone on the Chiefs or especially the 49ers that has been their main target all along but they have kept it quiet? Adam coming from SF that seems very likely there is an under the radar candidate he really likes and wants. And they did thier due dilligance with the othre candidates but really want this under the radar person.

Just feels like there is a lot we fans do not know, which is normal. Not worried either way. It will be taken care of soon. Then the real hand wringing by fans can start!  LOL
