Was Slye getting injured the reason we won this game?

I did see one advantage in it.

With confidence and no hesitation, Ron could constantly go for the 4th down conversions, and be himself ;)

Knowing that the 4th down attempt is basically your only option allows you to zoom in and focus, and do so with less anxiety over whether it's the right call

  2. The extra 17th game will benefit us, I believe.

Because we hit our stride and got hot at just the right time, maybe even a little earlier than we really needed to, to sneak into the playoffs.

So I see it as an opportunity for an extra win, or to kind of make up for a loss.

-Taylor Heinicke is absolutely ELITE in the intangibles.

That's so valuable for a number of reasons.

One, I don't think you can teach it.

Two, I think those kinds of things are difficult to scout and measure, when you're looking at college prospects. That may be one reason why he was overlooked. There's other reasons yes, but maybe that's one.

And I just want to add - Scott Turner is a freakin genius for being the only NFL rep to come see Heinicke on Pro Day.

Which free agent has more tangible/moxie/IT factor/scrambling abilities/Houdini escapism than Taylor right now?

Wilson has already said he is not going to Washington.

But for a funny take, this Seahawks fan said Wilson might come to Washington - to BACKUP Heinicke ! And was serious  😀

I think Russ is checking to see if they have a spot for him next year. Maybe backing up Taylor?

That is the angle (the front one) I said in the game day thread showed me the ball hit the ground but other said his hand was still under it. Clearly shows his hand was on top of the ball and then he corrals the ball after the ball hit the ground first. This is why it was overturned. If that TD meant we lose the game then yeah I would have been really upset.

There was so many things that could have lost us the game. All the way up to the onside kicks.

But this gutsy team fights through adversity and overcomes it, with a resiliency I havn't seen in a very long time from WAS.

I think part of that gutsy mentality comes from Rivera's disciplinary style of coaching, and part of it is feeding off the gutsy energy of Heinicke.

I was hoping for Jake Verity but I am happy that they signed someone off of a practice squad vs picking up dreg off the street like Blewitt. The Rams signed Matt Gay off the Colts' practice squad last year and have now found their long term solution.

What I'd like to know is...

Can Brian Johnson chase down a 279 pound defensive lineman, over a stretch of about 80 yards ?

And do so without pulling a hammy ?

On a more relevant note, I see that he kicked a game-winner with less than 2 minutes left, for New Orleans this year. And he did it against Seattle, and on MNF !

In college, he made 100% of his 131 XP attempts.

And 76% of his 71 FG attempts.

So, here's his preseason stats with Chicago this year :

    3 for 3 in XP's. And 2 for 2 in FG's

Both FG's were over 40 yards, and one of them was 54 yards.

Yes, providing the receivers control of the ball is maintained through the process. But that didn't happen. Logan lost control for a split second and the ball clearly (and I chose my words carefully here) "detached from grip" as he and the ball contacted the ground.

That may have indeed happened, but of all the angles I saw, there wasn't a clear view of a "clear and obvious" reason to overturn.

Then why is Reaves not on any roster?

    He's on our PS.

So he may not be far from getting on the field.

And my opinion was based on Reaves' play on the field in regular season. More than just a casual observation.

It doesn't mean he's a bad player, not being on the 53.

We've seen this scenario play out quite a bit actually : the fans scream for someone to be either benched or cut, and the coaches wait more patiently for them to pan out, and said player eventually does lose his job. It's possible

    He's the ST captain.

Yes, I'm aware of his ST value. And he is not irreplaceable.

Apke is another player who basically is on the team, exclusively because of ST.

    Hudson may be another

How many roster spots like that can we afford to use up ?

I especially am not a fan of Everett. Not playing Safety anyway. I think Reaves is better.

Disagree.  It wasn't evident from every angle they replayed, but there was one that clearly showed the ball moving (detached from grip) when it hit the ground.  I fully expected the reversal.

Doesn't the rule allow it to touch the ground, if the hand is beneath the ball, as it was ?

Taylor is the NFL's best story since Kurt Warner!

Main differences - Warner was filling shopping bags, while Heinicke was completing Finals for numerous genius subjects.

And that Super Bowl ring, too :)

I fully expect this organization to screw this all up by brining in someone else to start next year because he “can’t make all the throws”

I love watching him play. It’s exciting to see a qb that isn’t afraid to stand in the pocket and isn’t afraid to throw the ball around at any time.

    he’s got all the intangibles.

Look at how our OL protection broke down so much, especially with a 4th string Center.

And think about this : how many more sacks would most QB's have gotten, while Heinicke was able to slip out of them all, or nearly all of them.

-Best play of the game was the fan who threw Everett out of the stands. I'm not for fans touching players, but I'm also not for players jumping into opposing team's home stands. The fan wasn't overly violent, but he set the tone: This is our house. Get out. Loved it.

At first I thought you were talking about Deshazor Everett.

    Surprised you didn't mention him.

I know he was rusty when he came in and allowed that TD, but...

He's been doing that kind of thing at Safety for a while.

Does anyone think he deserves to be a backup Safety ?

If there ever was a day I thought I could play in the NFL yesterday was that day watching Slye attempt to run down that Seattle defender.

    Next up…

Excellent, we'll put you on the Teams specifically for Blocked Extra Point plays 😛

Just wanna duck in here and say that predicting bad things is the easiest thing in the world to do.  It takes no courage or forethought…we all know that bad things are gonna happen.

If you wanna be a shot caller…and a big baller…then you predict good things happening.  Ride an underdog or get out of the game.

    Take a big sip…

Sounds like the words of a gambler.

How appropriate as we head into Vegas

The both totally got "Wilson" wrong in the Tom Hanks movie.

First they call it a coconut. Then they both agree it's a basketball.

But it was a volleyball  😁

He's like "Every time I hear about Russell Wilson, I think of the Tom Hanks movie"

That's funny because everyone else thinks of Taylor Heinicke, when they think of Russell Wilson 😛

Shaka Toney. He plays like that week in, we won't miss Chase for long...

Shaka Toney and JSW, both 7th Rounders making impacts on the EDGE, and both either a rookie, or 2nd year player.

Great scouting, and great player development.

Kam Curl is our 1st pro bowl safety and best safety we've had since The Predator.

He had a rough game, first with the dropped easy INT, and then the costly DPI (as controversial as it was)

But as we've seen, week after week, other players stepped up when we needed it.

And I'm sure Curl will bounce back...just like curls always do.
