  1. Who would've though a PA boot on first down might be a good idea with a 5'10 qb?
  2. I remember thinking most of those Gruden teams were bad. This team continues to lower the bar lol
  3. Chase Young is afraid to tackle now Can't make this **** up
  4. Yeah, the knees weren't down or anything and he stretched the ball past the line to gain. Don't think this crew is the best, refs or announcers lol
  5. And in comes people saying that Scott Turner gets people open, and is therefore a good OC.....as if every offense in the league doesn't have players running open with the current NFL ruleset. If they are going to play Heinicke, moving the pocket should be the number one priority. If they are going to run an offense like the second half of that Green Bay game....may as well play Allen or bring in a bigger QB.
  6. Who said anything about a medal? There's no way he's a viable starter with his arm and accuracy issues. It's a good thing that is being made apparent through him pressing too hard to carry the team (which he isn't capable of doing), rather than him just trying to lose games by less. That's how you end up with a QB like Jason Campbell hanging on to a starting job for 3 years. I gather by your posts on the subject that you'd rather this team go 8-9 this season, rather than something like 4-13. I'd prefer them to lose and get a QB that at least has a chance to win a playoff game in the future, since there is no better option than Heinicke on the team, right now. So, we aren't going to agree on anything. I'm not gonna beat the dead horse anymore. On a side note, this 17 game schedule sucks. I just don't like change. An 8-9 season just doesn't sound right lol
  7. Alright, I'm not saying Heinicke is a long term starter or anything crazy like that, but claiming that the defense being god awful has nothing to do with him forcing things in desperation, while trying to keep pace with far better teams, is disingenuous, to say the least. The offense started every game down 7-0 for a pretty good stretch there, and he is NOT the type of player to just check it down constantly when behind on the scoreboard, like your Jason Campbells or Alex Smiths. Thank god for that, because I'm not sure I could stand watching that style of football anymore.
  8. Go into retirement? I'd guess in the offseason.
  9. I like Heinicke. I think he could be a low end starter, even with his abysmal arm strength, if he was pinpoint accurate (Think Chad Pennington post shoulder surgery). He is not accurate. He's sailing throws all over the place out there, and it's a miracle that he doesn't have more interceptions. Still would be a good backup, but this talk of Favre level play is insanity. He's fun enough to watch for now, but only because there are no better options. I don't necessarily think that Fitzpatrick would be any better, and Kyle Allen hasn't been able to stay healthy, historically. I feel like we'll probably see what he's got, sooner or later this season, and it won't be much.
  10. Can we build a robotic arm for Heinicke, effectively making him into a cyborg? Hey, it's more realistic than Rodgers coming here.....and people talk about that.
  11. I think some of you are just looking at it from a different perspective than others, myself included. I can't imagine being anxious while watching a team this bad. They are going nowhere this year, so I don't equate Taylor Heinicke's risky play to anxiety, at all. It's all just a detached interest at this point. This franchise has broken me as a fan. I envy those of you who can still feel anxiety while watching the Maroon and Black take the field. As it stands, I find Heinicke more exciting to watch than any QB here since Kirk Cousins, because these insignificant wins/losses don't mean anything to me. The team is at least an offseason away from being truly competitive...and it has been for as long as I can reliably remember. History says that it's unlikely to turn around next season, either. I'm still here, though....so I suppose I have to still care. It's just not an active caring. It's why I very rarely engage in any debate on here for the last few years. It just seems futile. Kinda sad, really.
  12. Eh, a boring ass checkdown fest and a later pick at 7 wins or some excitement and a high draft pick at 4 of 'em. These are the kind of debates that really make you realize how bad of a team this is, consistently over the years. God help us all.
  13. We never agree on anything. I don't get how anyone could defend his playcalling, especially recently. I bet you'll love this, but I'd still rather watch Heinicke at this point over Alex Smith's amazing 6-4 start, before he got hurt. What now? I couldn't resist lol
  14. His footwork looks really bad rolling left, they did actually try it the last game once. Going to his right, he's been fine on the rare boot....and has been able to pick up yards running if it's covered. Really does remind me of a noodle armed Doug Flutie, and a similar gameplan would probably help to try to minimize his obvious shortcomings. Your guess as to why they don't do it more is as good as mine, though. Maybe Turner just loves the jet sweep fakes too much to not run them all the time My concern isn't for this season, but moving forward with Turner. It's not like the offense would be a world beater either way, right now.
  15. Let me preface this by saying that I think it's pretty clear to anyone who isn't extremely biased that Heinicke is not someone you want as your starting QB, and I am not an expert, by any means, BUT I cannot even begin to fathom why Scot Turner doesn't make more of an effort to move the pocket with sprint outs, boots, anything. You have a QB who is very limited from the pocket, who needs to threaten defenses with his legs to get the openings necessary for often inaccurate, noodle armed rainbows to connect....and you're running a straight drop back offense expecting him to go through his reads while defenses just take away everything short. He uses Heinicke about as well as he uses Gibson lol I just don't get it......and yeah, I never liked Turner to begin with, but what the hell? As to the topic, When to bench him? I don't really care. I don't think any QB on the roster is gonna be very impressive with the current personnel on offense. At least Heincke looks for McClauren, I guess.
  16. Landon Collins gives up first downs every snap that he is on the field lol
