interesting I recall Daniels said in an interview his dad is his biggest critic including telling him at times he sucks when he's off

He can’t be more different than RG3 in personality and upbringing. His mom did leave some questions but she was about as quiet as a mouse at LSU so maybe that’s done with.

His dad told him he still sucked after he won the Heisman. Which is perfect lol

Was just about to post this. This is what I meant by the guy does go through his reads and is not just a running QB. And its also an example of why I don't mind how often he ran the ball when pressured. If he has enough room to step into a throw he does it with accuracy. If his first read isn't there he goes through his progressions. And if he has room to run for 9 and get the first he does it. He was able to make these plays that the other guys weren't and that's why he did it. Normally - for most guys - taking off and running on 3rd and 9 isn't the smartest move. For him it was AND it was easy. I cant take credit from him for making the correct play.

Yeah, I am guilty of being overly excited by Whitt winning the press conferences.  Add to that the injection of talent via FA and the draft and I’m willing to overlook that we are protecting our greatest investment with air right now.

One of my biggest worries is that Witt so over-performs that he is offered a HC position before we can.

    Which is 100% irrational lol.

I really want to know if they sold him on building around him for 4 years or jus the most garunteed money.

I can see the later happening...gotta believe if a team does tell you what their plans are for you, doing the opposite in the same offseason after you sign sounds out of pocket.

Most people in the NFL frowned on what Ben Johnson did, there are rules in this business, written and unwritten.  Kirk followed the money ruthlessly, but he never forced his way out of anywhere.

Why I agree with you I believe he jus took the Atlanta money because it was the most garunteed not realizing Atlanta was jus signing him as a bridge QB to mentor someone potentially better and younger. Yea know, business.

Yea I mean, it would be dirty business to lie to him. And honestly I wouldn’t be above that either. But at the end of the day it’s a business and they all know it. Kirk played it perfectly while he could and that I’m sure that put teams in a defensive position when working with him.

They had to sign him when they did. But they surprising found themselves in position to not be left holding the bag if he is offered more money when that time comes. Cause they have to pay those weapons. And if they have to pay him too they are ****ed. Now they don’t lol

    Agreed.

On one hand, I agree they shoulda told Kirk they planned to draft a QB BEFORE he signed a 4 year deal.

Same time he's 35 years old coming off an Achilles injury.

What did he think the Falcons were gonna do?

This looks like a contract that doesn't seem too painful to get out of in two years, did he read it?

    https://overthecap.com/player/kirk-cousins/1443

Kirk isn’t going to do them any favors and he never will. He has made that clear to every team in the league. They don’t owe him anything and they can’t give him more leverage by telling him their plans for his replacement. Over communication with him before he is signed only makes him more expensive.

This is what happens when you act like a mercenary for hire and show literally zero loyalty to anyone. He did it to himself.

    Just Released:

Logan Paulsen, London Fletcher and Fred Smoot conduct  interview with Jayden...

He didn’t talk to the media much pre draft but he did say he didn’t need to because the teams knew him already. I see why he says it. He is very charismatic for quiet guy.

Best thing about this interview was him talking about getting the WRs (HOFMers btw) to come in early with him. They all took a jump this last season. And with the way his coach talked about him being one of the best leaders he has ever seen, I wonder how much of that growth on offense can be attributed to his leadership. I don’t think it’s a stretch to think he had a major hand in getting his guys in there and working their asses off. Which lead to crazy success for all of them.

Now that Day 2 is in the books, just chuckling a bit that some people thought Tez Walker would actually go in the 1st round. He’s now a 4th rounder at best.

Maye was throwing to absolute bums.

Anyway, I’m all aboard the Daniels train now.

    Hail.

He is gonna be so comfortable in NE. Good for him! Hell they could package some picks and trade with us and maybe even land Tez for him.

He used a clear one in college.

I luv the tinted visor look, but the NFL cracked down hard w/ the emphasis on concussions. They want team medical reps to have a clear view of a players eyes when they get to them to help evaluate them. I believe you have to have a medical exemption to wear tinted visors on gameday now.

Sux, but can't exactly be mad at the NFL on this one. Safety makes sense here.

Oh THATS why they did that. Huh. I thought they were just jerks. That makes so much sense.

Didn’t RG3 immediately try starting his own brand/label within a month of being drafted?  He wasn’t really serious about his craft, but it seems like JD5 is.  Wanted Maye, but the more I hear about this kid, the more excited I am getting.

I think Daniels already has a website selling shirts or something actually. But just like then I don’t think I care much as it’s probably run by parents or managers or something.

I hope he sells enough shirts that he takes vetmin+ for his second contract! Moar shirts!!

Yeah because the people on the internet were so wrong when they argued Young was a lollipop guild extra rather than a starting QB in this league, or that Zach Wilson was Milf Hunter, rather than a starting QB, or that Kenny Pickett was --- and Sam Howell was better, or that Mitch Trubisky going ahead of Watson and Mahomes were jokes etc.

There's no evidence at all that the NFL is any good at this, nor anyone else (to be fair). Everyone sucks at QB eval.

Its sounds like we agree, then. My argument is that you could be wrong about what these numbers mean. There may be more to it. You argue the exact same thing about NFL Pros.

I'm not sure why its causing consternation for me to say that I think your numbers lack context and that the team agrees with me. That doesn't make either of us right or wrong yet. You could be right, and they overcome it anyway. The only thing we know is we don't know for sure. We are in agreement are we not?

  11. Dude thanked the student equipment managers for catching passes for him after everyone else was gone. He is a funny mix of proud of himself, pride in his abilities and being intentionally humble. Like you can hear him go out of his way to ground himself the day after he is drafted. I hope he keeps that up I think its important.

How long have you been on this board? People latch onto non football or quasi-character things when they discuss QBs especially. That comes with the territory. Tell me what people think about Jay Cutler after his first year or two and his attitude.

Were you here for Ramsey and Brunell? Jason Campbell and whatever the hell else we were rolling out? Do you have any memory of how harsh people were towards every aspect of Brunell and Campbell and many other QBs? Social media barely existed back then (or not at all for some of these). I'm sure if Mark had said 'we need to get better" after throwing hospital balls all game, he would have been annihilated. I know, because I couldn't stand the dude. I constantly pointed out how Jason adopted some bad habits after being around him and allowing reporters to give him credit on good things and saying "we" when it should have been me. By the end of Brunell and Campbell, people were done. Haskins (RIP) was giving more overt signs but even there people were questioning the pick based on a non-running QB who seemed to play in a system that inflated numbers and he had a bad attitude on draft night of all nights.  That and a family that seemed to be involved in an unhealthy way.  Sort of like RG3's dad may have been, but probably less harmful to RG3 or the team than people think.

Were you on this board when we drafted RG3? I was. There are always detractors and we didn't really have a lot of options after RG3 but I recall people mostly loving the pick and being excited about him as a person (fool me once!) Many of us thought RG3 had a chance to be the best (or most accomplished) QB from 2012.

So when you make these insinuations, it seems like you were born new into the world rather than someone who has intimate experience with what occurred.

Ghost you posted that I had something to say and I should be clear about it. So I made myself clear. What is the issue now? What am I insinuating? That people don’t like him for non football reasons? Is that incorrect? I don’t see the issue.

What exactly are you intending for me to give you with this back and forth?

  13. 7 minutes ago, Ghost of said:

Why not volunteer more information? I'm getting a sense you want to get at something, and the fact that Llevron seemed to want to touch on it. I know Hooper talked about it directly.

Just come out with it, we should discuss it, at least obliquely.

What? That a lot of you made it clear that you don't like him because of not exactly football reasons like his mom, the way he dresses, the social media (which I also don't like) and how he speaks? Or are we talking about how people kept calling him a run first running QB when basically everyone who watched him told you that couldn't be farther from the truth but still, today, people think that. I mean we tarnished the kids character before we even heard two words out of his mouth and it was predictable.

I have never intended to be hide what I think some people think. I have always intended to give you all the benefit of the doubt and obey the forums rules. I told you from the start that my bias is clear and I try to ride above it. I hope we all do. If w want to make it a focus of the conversation, I'm fine with that too. I dont think its helpful though.
