Well this is very depressing. All the good feelings I had from the end of the season have been tempered. Gone is the guy responsible for 2 really good drafts, gone is the hopes of getting a legit franchise QB which I believe is essential for lasting success. I don't believe Watson will be traded and I don't want to pay the price it would take. That playoff appearance costs us 9 spots in the draft, now we have no real plan other than a retread or a reach in the draft for the most important position in sports.

I up voted you before seeing the last part about signing the dreaded game manager until they see the QB the think is the one. Every one of those names you posted were considered "the one" by Redskins management at the time. Finding a really good QB is really really hard as we know so well. That's why if one is available you have to do what you can to obtain him so we don't continue this merry go round.

I was going to say the same thing. With a dominant defense and that offensive design it's hard to imagine a QB in a better position for success. Goff is good when things are great around him, like in our game, but when it gets harder he is average at best. And that won't get any better on another team, it will only get worse.

Watson I don't see as possible. The Jets could offer much higher picks and a QB, so can Miami. Those are just 2 of the 18 teams with higher picks than our team has. I think the price would have to be absolutely crippling, as @KDawgpointed out in Houston showed that he can't win by himself, when he did get help he didn't win much. That's why I prefer Stafford. He is mobile in the pocket, makes a ton of off script plays, he will be much less expensive and he's really really good.

1. Stafford. He won't cost nearly as much in cap and picks as Watson. 2. Watson: You have to have a QB in this league and the names of retreads are crazy suggestions IMO. 3. Trade up in the draft: Distant 3rd, the miss rate is too high when we have proven options in the first 2 scenarios 4. Dak: Again not a call I would make to pay a non-elite QB elite QB money 5. Marriotta is a waste of time, see my Watson comments. If drafting a QB in the top 10 is a long shot drafting a franchise QB in the 2nd round is off the charts long odds.

Option A is taking a QB who has demonstrated that he just isn't good enough, then we dip into the draft and take a QB outside of the top 10 where the hit rate on a true franchise QB is about 1% but you retain your high picks for other positons. Option B is taking a proven top 10 QB who has not had an injury history and projects to have 5-7 more productive years and immediately makes them a contender in the NFC.

If they do pull of this trade heads will explode at the price. LOL at posters who believed originally that it may not include the 19th pick. I hate to sound ignorant but how do these trade talks go? I mean does Mayhew (or whomever it is) hear from Detroit "we got a high first and 2 seconds on the table right now" and just believe him? Do offers come documented so they can be shared to confirm offers? I honestly don't know how these conversations go.
