Mayfield seems like the epitome of an up and down QB.  If you give him 3 seasons, one will be questionable. He'll probably cost himself the big contract by throwing out a middling season in there.  .But then he'll find times to play like a guy that was once 1st overall

Why would any of that have any bearing whatsoever on the selection?  You crunch all the tape, do all your evaluation and decide not to take him because he's friends with the guy you're replacing and happened to go to the same school?  I hope the new coach and GM arent that dumb.  lol

I would exactly call that getting lit up.  Semien was terrible.  

The Jags are in a tailspin and Lawrence might not play next week.  Can Carolina steal one to get to 3 wins?  Then we're one game out with one to play for all the marbles. lol

I think next year's QBs should be the draft pick, Brissett as the backup and Howell can be the 3rd QB.  But if they somehow miss out on the top 3 guys, I dont know what they do.  They could be left with Howell again if Brissett walks and there's no draft pick starter type.

As for the game, yet another example of how EB has failed Howell by not leaning on the running game earlier.  He only goes to it in crisis when they get behind.  

We were only able to get back in the game because A) Semien is terrible, and B ) the Jets had way too many penalties.  14 for 150 is obscene.  

I'm gonna cut the defense a little slack (just a little) because the Jets were getting possession deep on our side of the field.  But they couldnt get any pressure on Semien.  They are desperate for an edge rusher.

I think from Ron's POV, he's trying to give Howell rope, but Howell is throwing up on himself.  And now, it gets to the point in a game where Ron has pride that just wants to win.  I'd think it was weird if he benched him earlier in the season.  Now, he doesnt give a crap.

I've never rooted harder for an opposing team's FG in my life.  😂

If they win this game, there's a very plausible scenario where Howell and Brissett are the top two QBs again next year. 

Ron hates us.

It's over for Howell.  He's played his way out of QB1 next year.  I dont see any coach coming in thinking we're set at QB and you just need to put pieces around him.
