  1. Sure, they’re within their rights. It’s just an extremely Bengals thing to do, to have an AFC Championship game caliber roster and not even attempt to offer an extension to a guy like Higgins for over a year. Not even a peep. Maybe you won’t offer what his agent wants, that’s fair. But I don’t see how it’s good for morale to not even try to bring him back during the window of Burrow’s prime.
  2. They were still backstage chewing Green out about how annoying he was while announcing our first pick with a soliloquy
  3. His insane 3-cone is a harbinger of things to come in the short game. He’s not really a separation guy right now because he’s still learning the position but that can change, especially with his work ethic. Julian Edelman, one of the best QB convert slot WR’s ever, was shorter but had a similar elite 3-cone and overall level of athleticism. Luke is ahead of where Julian was coming out because he made the position switch in college instead of waiting for the NFL—but that ability to drop their hips and turn on a DIME is the same. 6.67 vs 6.7. The ceiling on this pick is extremely high given Luke’s ability in the contested catch space already.
  4. Not only that (and we knew this dude was smart and soaking it all in) but he’d clearly been a ****ing sponge through this whole process. 6 months ago he couldn’t carry a football conversation at all. He’s obviously more comfortable now, but part of that is he’s learning and becoming more confident that he knows what he’s talking about. Peters and Quinn have been filling his head with decades of football experience and it shows. I don’t mean he could do the job himself lol, I just mean he’s becoming football literate on a higher level and able to easily handle the press questions around football issues. Like you said, he’s relaxed. But part of it is he knows what he’s talking about quite a bit more than when he got here.
  5. I think you could be right but I couldn’t resist going back to an old favorite of mine:
  6. Small, aggressive, good tackler, upside as a blitzer, decent in space except against fast RB’s. Those seem to be the cliff’s notes. Definitely seems like a potential ST’s lifer with upside in the middle. Would’ve preferred a swing at one of the remaining OL we’ve all talked about or Cam Hart or Johnny Wilson, personally. Still some good edge talent left too. Another pick coming up though.
  7. Hart, Christian Jones, Johnny Wilson are all interesting to me at this point
  8. Because it’s fun! It’s like getting a free pass to misbehave I would never shadow mod, those guys suck! For real though, this community has always thrived on self-policing. Aka when we say something dumb, someone tells us it was dumb. I myself love to call someone who makes a dumb post a dummy, and have been on the receiving end at least as many times. It’s half the fun. I try to stay away from commentary on an entire segment of fans or opinions, but probably don’t succeed there either. Detour over 👍 I appreciated your thoughts on average FA contracts of players at the positions we’re drafting or could be drafting
  9. Every DT and TE that goes makes me smile and pushes down someone else. I’m starting to feel that way about WR as well even though I wouldn’t say no to another (hell I’d take another TE also but none of the guys who have gone are my flavor)
  10. Narrative? Is it some sort of difficult moral quandary to just post your opinion without putting it on a pedestal by putting swaths of people who disagree with you in a “groupthink homer talk” bucket? I don’t know what’s controversial about saying that doing so is both: 1. Doing a disservice to plenty of posters here who put a lot of thought into their own opinions that happen to disagree with yours and 2. Giving undue importance to your own opinion, which you have argued well in an otherwise informative manner. And yet you’re still just as likely to be wrong. I may call someone a dummy once in a while but I don’t think it helps the discourse to say that anyone who thinks X is suffering from Y delusion lol
  11. It’s been posted one thousand times here already, you just chose to reduce it to blind homerism. Maybe the FO ends up right that the players they took should have been higher on their board than the OT’s they didn’t take. Maybe you end up right that the guys we passed on were in a higher tier than Coleman and we’ll seriously regret it. I have no qualms with your opinion, it’s shared by many—I commented on the part of your post I thought was notable, which is how damn rude it was to the community here. A community that has a long history of really breaking down the draft (and being rightfully cynical about own team’s picks most years, which seems relevant given your accusation of blind homerism lol) I don’t owe you any argument btw, when you roll in here saying anyone who disagrees with you is just fooling themselves. That’s beyond arrogant.
  12. Pretty insulting. Maybe people just disagree with you about how the board fell.
  13. No offense but this invalidates everything else you said, you have no idea what you’re talking about here—to an impressive level We all have opinions, but they aren’t all correct.
  14. Scheme really fueled Puka’s insane success so idk about that part, but glad to see that some people love the younger McCaffrey
  15. McCaffrey feels like the one potential exception to this. Peters having such intimate knowledge of the prospect makes this either a slightly biased nepotism overdraft (loving the player and knowing we don’t have a 4th), or a chance at a real steal.
  16. He’ll have a big impact right away, and it’s not dependent on moving on from someone. People were drooling at the idea of Chop Robinson at the top of the 2nd, and he would’ve been a rotational player for his entire career, likely. “Rotational player” is just a loaded term in this super specialized league. Newton was better value than that imo. And in regards to the DL rotation, it’s not normal for DL to play the high snap counts ours do (well, Payne at least), even though in the past they’ve gone through stretches of handling it really well. When we have a beautiful new facility for the staff and players. Eventually—probably depends where the new stadium is
  17. Newton is going to see the field a TON, you are very wrong about that McCaffrey will likely play in the slot immediately as well.
  18. A hundredth of a second. A tenth of a second would be MUCH faster lol
  19. Just stop. Be a good member of the community. It’s not hard
  20. Because he’s talented but kind of a selfish asshole
  21. not much?? We moved back 10 spots to move up almost an entire round from 78 to 53. That’s 25 slots to get from mid 3rd to mid 2nd. Big jump I imagine we feel good about the next 10 players on our board I wanted one of these DB’s but hell, maybe Kool-Aid keeps falling Don’t like letting the Eagles pair Dejean with their 1st round CB
  22. Peters started a run at DT and every player we had a shot at for the 36th pick is still there at 40. Now we trade back! Wow with the Eagles. Really hope they don’t pair their DB pick yesterday with another top DB 🤦‍♂️
  23. Could still get one of the DB’s at 40 tbh, if one of these next two picks goes our way
