  1. Blatche's 16 offensive rebounds was the most by a player in a single game since 1997. And tied for 4th most in a game since they started keeping track of offensive rebounds in 1972. WTF is really going on.

I admit I don't keep up all that much with the Wizards, other than I've been killing in fantasy lately by having Jordan Crawford.:) But wasn't this Blatche's first game back in awhile? I had to do a double-take when I saw his line tonite. I was like...whaa..? Why is this guy so inconsistent? That just doesn't make any sense.

  2. Happy Halladays and Merry Cliffmas to all!!!!!!

Braves fan here. But I can certainly understand why you'd be so happy. I would be too. That's an amazing staff. While he went to a team in my division, a part of me is still giddy because of the way he basically told the Yanks to stuff it! lol

  3. He deserved it, and the Padres are going to be a force for years to come.

I doubt it. Several of their pitchers pitched over their heads this year. Their starting pitching will probably come back down to earth next year. And they already aren't that great of an offensive club.

  4. Let me know when the Braves don't choke in the playoffs 12 times in 13 years :)

Two games away from being a more pathetic version of the Buffalo Bills. That's a shame.

Dude, the Nats don't even MAKE the playoffs. So how can you even go there? Ridiculous.

And the comparison to the Bills is also ridiculous. The Bills never won a title. We have (3 actually). Nice try.

  5. Based on what?

    His 3 more homers?

    His Silver Slugger Award.

Also, McCann was personally responsible for the NL winning their first All Star game since the Carter Administration.

And its easy to see how his stats were a little down this year, compared to most years. He had little protection. Chipper was awful for most of the year. And they didn't really have anyone hitting consistently behind him either. That plays a role. And McCann was banged up alot, too. And he had vision problems earlier in the season.

He still had a good year. And, outside of Mauer, he's been the best catcher in baseball the last 4,5 years. That's inarguable.

  6. Which catcher had the better year in the NL?

    Catcher 1 -

    G AB R H 2b 3b HR RBI W K SB CS AVG OPB SLG OPS

    143 479 63 129 25 0 21 77 74 98 5 2 .269 . 375 .453 .828

    Catcher 2 -

    G AB R H 2b 3b HR RBI W K SB CS AVG OPB SLG OPS

    108 406 58 124 23 2 18 67 30 55 0 2 .305 .357 .505 .862

    Without a doubt, Catcher 1

  7. Yeah, I saw this. I like the move IF we can sign him long term. If not, its a horrible move. I think Uggla probably just wanted out of Florida. And I think he and Gonzalez must of had a good relationship. I'm just glad this guy isn't gonna torment us any longer lol.

Didn't the Braves have an all star 2B already?

edit...looks like they are moving Prado to 1b...

I haven't read the article, but I'm sure the Prado to 1B thing is just an idea. They don't really know what to expect from Chipper, coming back from the injury and all. My guess is that Prado will end up spending most of his time at 3B next year. Either Chipper will decide he won't come back, or he will miss alot of time.

If it were me I would probably ask him to move to 1B for his final season. Might allow him stay healthy longer, Plus he's a huge target over there.

It will be interesting how it all works out.

  8. Hopefully the Braves actually get out of the first round this year

    LOL

I still remember that long extra inning game where Houston won lol

    Clemens coming in as relief

As a Padre fan, I'm not sure how you can laugh at the Braves. Not this year. And certainly not, historically. Think, man.

  9. So first round match ups look like this:

    Rangers vs Rays

    Yankees vs Twins

    Giants vs Phillies

    Braves vs Reds

Actually, I think (as of now) the Braves would face the Giants, not the Reds. Should the Braves win the wildcard, the Phillies would probably play the team with the worst record between the Giants and Reds. Right now the Reds have a worse record. I'm not 100% sure that's how it is, but it SHOULD be that way.

  10. Shouldn't have taken this long to clinch a playoff spot, but better late than never....

    right Padres?? :ols:

Yeah, it shouldn't have. But I'm just glad that they make it at this point. And I love how they've responded since Prado went down. They swept the Marlins. And Prado's replacement hits a key 3-run HR to win that first game Prado was out. HUGE. C'mon Brooks Conrad, keep it up! We need all the offense we can get from here on out.

  11. When your bad season consists of a 15-10 record with a 3.51 ERA and leading the NL (again) in strikeouts...with one game to go....not sure what that says.

The thing is - Lincecum had a bad August. 0-5 with a 7.82 ERA.

Throw out that month (which you can't) and he is 15-5 with an ERA under 3. Not too shabby.

I guess my point was he hasn't even been the best starter on his own team this year.

  12. Yeah, but his stuff is SICK. The man is a straight up ace.

Lincecum hasn't been that great this year, dude.

You know, it's strange (and it's something I never realized). The three teams I loathe the most, the O's, the Yankees, and the Braves, were all dominate teams in the 90s.

This Ken Burns movie is kicking ass, though. I expected nothing less.

lol The O's were dominant in the 90s?...I must have missed that!
