I chose it by sight, he has 'em in mason jars.

    DUDE.

I got home about half an hour ago...fed the cats, scooped the poop, changed clothes, all upstairs stuff.  The instant I hit the 4th step downstairs, I could smell it.  It's double-bagged in a ****in' Rubbermaid box under a chair.  I changed all of the air fresheners yesterday.

This is some serious ****.  Highly recommend the FoodSaver, and I don't think that would even work so I'm not gonna waste the effort.

One hit, I'm stupid high.  And I've been doing this for almost 40 years.  Unreal.

Lol, that’s awesome. If you really need something to control that smell I highly recommend ordering some bear bags online. Their less clunky than a mason jar, cheap, come in all different sizes and are smell proof. You can get ‘em from Amazon or places like REI.

    Anyone tried Cereal Milk?

I had 5 to choose from,  I could've mixed but...

HOLY, this stuff is pungent.  Like from really far away contained.

I'm happy with my choice. :silly:

Nice, I've got some Cobra Milk seeds which are Cereal Milk x Jealousy. Cereal Milk is a good cookies cut and i think it's a different pheno of the mom and dad that created the super popular Gary Payton strain. You definitely made a good choice.

Watched the second season of The Witcher.  It was alright but didn't feel as good as season one.   Apparently, viewership is sharply down this season; so probably won't get a third season.

The Boba Fett show and Season 4 of Cobra Kai drops this week; maybe today?

Season 3 of The Witcher is already confirmed. It’s been well received aside from the usual people complaining about changes to the source material.

This is kind of fun I'm being attacked from all angles. What's even better is I don't really like politicians in general, I didn't make a provocative statement and you guys are in love with me. All you had to say was, "Wow you know what there is some stupid socialist spending attached to that bill, but I think the overall bill has potential."

I don't have to be a fly on the wall of the White House to not notice that Biden made a big mistake by allowing the progressives to dictate to him instead of staying true to his moderate core. I think it's fair to say at this point that he has some major problems with being a pushover. That's on him and his staff.

What's ironic is that Manchin most likely saved his presidency.

And yes I do believe that even though the BBB bill is championed as good for Americans, I don't think it's good for America. I know you guys can't wait for my bullet point essay

You can reframe and bypass what is going on in this thread all you want, but it’s just more nonsensical ego protection that derails actual fact based discussion.

It’s ridiculous. This is a policy discussion thread not a vomit what you think, feel, and believe with no substance thread.

We’re not going to bend over backwards to validate the fantasies in your head.

Please read something with intellectual integrity and come back with a specific detail of BBB that you find to be stupid or socialist.

And also answer my previous question to you asking which of Trump’s policies was worth us losing our record of democratic peaceful transfers of power. Please explain to me how people who still support Trump are not traitors or ignorant marks.

It's kind of humorous that you insult me just because you don't agree with me and think I don't know what I'm talking about because I didn't write a formal essay. Maybe I will find time tonight

We both know you won’t write a damn thing that takes any kind of due diligence.

I sincerely hope you do some research, triangulate sources, and come back with specific details. But, if you had the fortitude to do that you wouldn’t be vomiting buzzwords and representing team traitor of the hand maiden idiocracy squad.

The infrastructure bill has already been passed and signed by the president

It's a socialist spending bill heavily influenced by Bernie Sanders and the progressive democrats that initiates a lot of spending for programs that don't make money but rather give out more handouts. If it was balanced out more in a bipartisan fashion there could be room for some of these things

You don’t even know what socialism is. Give specifics instead of empty buzzwords like socialism, Bernie, and handouts.

It always seems like a miracle when the two sides actually agree on something and politicians make progress. In this particular instance I would blame the progressive Democrats for being allowed to have so much influence over the bill.

In the end I think Manchin saved Joe Biden's presidency by not allowing this to pass

JFC, you have no idea what you’re even talking about.

Ok just shut off the lights. Going to give them 48 hours in the dark then harvest on Wednesday. Woohoo

@Fresh8686I've read that it's also a good idea to not water for the last few days before harvesting. Is that true or is that cannabis bro-science?

Also, do you usually wet or dry trim?

We watered ours 2 days before 36 hours of darkness. We wanted there to be some moisture leftover from watering to further prolong the drying process. To that end we also hung the plants whole without trimming anything, even the fan leaves. It’s winter time and humidity is dry as hell, so I’m trying to lean more into moisture retention than I would be during the rainy season.

Our plants have been drying for 2 weeks now and I think will be done on Thursday. We’ve been sampling some popcorn nugs and their dank and smooth as ****. I’m eyes low right now off a mix of nana and Mendo.

If you used my quote correctly I implied personal wealth along with good national policies, offset by ahole manners

What good national policies? And which one in particular is so good that you would take that in return for no longer being a democratic country that could claim having non-violent transfers of power? To have your democracy downgraded as a country and for the top experts on authoritarianism to be ringing alarm bells at our country’s descent?

Which one is worth having a losing president performing a failed coup? Which one is worth minimizing these actions as “antics” and voting for this failure of a human again?

I have yet to see a republican properly explain how supporting trump doesn’t make them either an ignorant mark or a traitor.

  9. @mistertim yup, I’d say you’re good to go and can harvest any time within the next 7 days depending on your preference for effect.

Thanks! I’m hoping to have some good bud shots to share once we trim the flowers. They look super frosty as they hang and dry, but still got 3-6 more days to go I think.

I can’t wait till our next grow is in flower. Some of the genetics we’re running have phenos that are so resinous that the leaves have streaks of grease dripping off of them. The smells are going to be absolutely out of this world.

@Fresh8686I think I remember reading something about that moderate humidity "low and slow" 2-3 drying being superior to the faster and lower humidity method, but also being something that's not usually great for noobs to do since you're also straddling that line between getting the buds just right and potentially inviting in things like mold and rot. Is that true?

Yup, but I grow coastal strains that are super mold and mildew resistant, plus I got two fans circulating air above and beneath my girls. I was worried about that as well though but, haven’t had any issues whatsoever. I think it’s more so a problem if humidity gets above 62 and there is poor air circulation, plus temps in the 80’s or higher. That’s less of an issue in winter, but something to think about for the next crop that’ll finish in spring.

  11. If you use grove bags instead of mason jars you don’t have to burp because it’s automatically balancing moisture levels provided you’ve dried your plants enough that the stems have 10% moisture content or less.

The quality of the dry is more important than the cure. You want a long, low, and slow dry kind of like cooking bbq. A week long dry is okay but if you want connoisseur grade with as much terp preservation as possible, a 2-3 week dry is best around 60/60 temp and humidity. The plants are still alive after harvest and you want to give them the time to fully process out all the sugars and chlorophyll in an oxygen rich or well circulated environment.

I’m on week 5 of my dry and my plants are doing great and smelling amazing. Although it’s been a pain in the ass filling up the humidifier 2-3 times a day. My temps are running anywhere from 62-68 and humidity is between 48-62 but mostly around 58 so not perfect but I hang the plants whole with no trimming and that slows the drying to balance out the lower humidity levels.

Question! I've got my weed in mason jars with moisture packets to cure. However, when I burp these jars, they smell more like hay and not weed. Is that because of the moisture packets? Is that just how it goes? Am I doing something wrong?

You may have put them into jars too early or are not getting enough air flow/burping enough. See below for a more detailed explanation and I've also included a good video on drying.

    Quote

Fresh cut grass smell is different than hay smell, one is green and one is decomposing. Fresh cut grass smell is from freshly cut material and will go away shortly, Hay smell after drying is caused by improper drying and is a result of anaerobic fermentation.

Drying/curing is an aerobic process, The plant itself consumes chlorophyll through metabolic activity after it's been cut. Keeping stomatas open and facilitating gas exchange the plant is broken down through respiration and hydrolysis. You want to keep oxygen present so that aerobic bacteria can keep anaerobic bacteria levels in check until the buds are below a homogeneous 15% moisture content, at which point most strains of bacteria will not grow.

When this isnt allowed to occur it starts to ferment. Nitrogen, sugars, cellulose, starch etc breaking down anaerobically with the high moisture content causing fermentation. This releases ammonia (essentially formed from the nitrates not breaking down properly) and acids giving the foul odor. The most likely culprit of the hay smell is Staphylococcus Lugdenensis, which are facilitive anaerobes, meaning they can survive through aerobic respiration or switch to fermentation in anaerobic environments. In aerobic mode, their only byproducts are CO2 and water, but once they consume all the O2 in their immediate environment, they switch to fermentation mode and start producing exotoxins. You want to keep them well fed with O2 (air circulation) so they stay in aerobic respiration mode.

  13. @mistertim I think the difference in smell is mostly because they have been producing terpenes for two days with no high intensity light to volatile it. There was a study that showed an increase in thc and terps with the extended night cycle but I haven’t read it myself.

Yea, your probably making the right decision to feed with phosphorus one more time and then start flushing. There was another study done that showed flushing created no difference in taste or experience and respondents preferred the non-flushed choice in the study. However, there is definitely something to excess nitrogen and that hay smell so as long as you’re avoiding that you should hopefully be good.

Hopefully that makes sense. I had a j of Chemdog and it’s got my head all cloudy. At least this one tasted like black licorice instead of pcp.

Thanks. Yeah that was my guess...probably another week or two since there were still plenty of clear heads.

They have chunked up a decent amount since they first flowered, though I'm a little worried that the apparently P deficiency I had may have stunted their development. I've been working on remedying that with the Flower Stacker and I'm starting to see some hopeful signs (some new green sugar leaves growing on buds now) but who knows how much it will have messed things up in the end.

Either way, even if it was stunted a bit, I'll still hopefully get a fair amount of decent quality bud, which is basically all I was hoping for out of my first grow. Next grow I'll be able to apply lessons learned.

How close are you to harvest now? IIRC you were really close last week or so.

Yea, I think you should still see a decent return and you gained a lot of valuable experience for your next run. Are you making sure to cut your nitrogen from your feedings by or before the last two weeks of flower? I flush with straight water only the last two weeks, so when I do my dry/cure, I don't have to worry about my buds having that weird hay smell.

I'm harvesting today after having my girls in darkness for the last 36 hours. They smell even better since there has been no light to volatile their terpenes. The plan is to chop and hang them in the tent to dry for the next 2-3 weeks at around 60 Degrees Fahrenheit and 60 humidity. Then I'll put them in grove bags for curing/storage.

  15. Day 65 of Flower. These will be getting a 36 hour dark cycle starting Sunday night and chopped on Tuesday, Day 69. Lemon Zkittlez is chunking up very nicely and I want to give her another couple days to reach her full potential.

First two are Nana Glue. Next four are Royal Limez. Then two shots of Lemon Zkittlez and finally two pics of Mendo Purple Urkle.

Keep a close eye on them buds! Imo, they're gonna be ready long before 1.5/2 weeks! Of course your growing medium will dictate. But if thats hydroponic, a week max.. Nice job, btw!! My first grow, I'd of considered going into business if they looked that good. Wait, Im high, it's Tim who's on his first grow. 🤪

Lol thanks, I appreciate it! We’re growing in soil and we’ll be harvesting next week once we see 75% Cloudy and 25% Amber trich heads.

We’ve had a pretty good run for our first time, but I’m already so hype for our next grow. We’re going to be running some powerhouse strains like SkunkVa’s Guerrilla Fume which is the closest seed form version of the original Chem 91 Cut and Irene OG x Chem D which is a killer Atlanta OG cut crossed with that pungent moth ball and baby **** funk of the D. My grow room is about to smell like a dumpster fire outside a jet fuel and chemical sewage factory in the best way possible.

What strains are you/Tim running for

    your “first grow”? 😄
