I personally find the junk fees for seat selection and carry-on **** that airlines have implemented to be odorous. That said, I don't see how what Buttigieg said changes what airlines are doing. Airlines see it as the consumer paying for a class (economy, economy plus, business, etc) of seats. As long as you get that class of seats (or better),  I don't see how anything is different.

I flew American last week for the first time in a bit and noticed they now charge you to pick ANY seats. Used to be you could get to pick a seat toward the back included in your ticket cost. Now you have to pay them $10 per flight just to not end up in the ****ing middle seat. You can check in without picking a seat but they will auto assign you to wherever they want.

Yeah. I don't see that happening. If they pick Daniels, I think they pick him because they flat out think he is the better QB. I don't see that personally but I don't think that Peters is a fool that gets talked into a pick.

Agreed. All the media reports are that league scouts and teams have a significant preference for Daniels. They view him as 1B to Caleb’s 1A (with a handful thinking Daniels is the 1A). If Washington doesn’t pick him, it’s one of two reasons:

-either the narrative is dead wrong and just silly season BS

    or

-something about Daniels spooked us (medicals, interview, etc)

I think there’s too much out there from reliable reports to think the narrative is BS. So I fully expect the pick to be Daniels, but if it is not, it’s probably not based on that is on tape.

  3. Also, I'm starting to get really excited for the Nats. Pitching was still a huge potential gap for the rebuild but if guys like Irvin and Parker can both turn into decent rotation pieces, suddenly you've got a lot of wiggle room with Cavalli coming back (as well as the potential to add a FA top of the rotation arm when we are ready to really compete).

I also suspect we will see Wood and Crews later this year. Winker will make a nice trade piece at the deadline and will clear the way for Wood. Crews might be a Sept call up and get some good playing time the last few weeks of the season. I think both will be opening day starters for us next year. It's happening!

If the pick is Maye, then I'll tell myself that he will be the next Josh Allen, and Daniels will flame out and get injured.

If the pick is Daniels, then I'll tell myself that he will be Lamar with a better arm and Maye will be Trubisky 2.0.

If the pick is JJ, I will fall into fetal position.

At least I'm covered mentally on 2/3 QBs!

JJ is Drew Brees with wheels, Kirk Cousins with clutch, and he will lead us to many championships.

There, you now are covered. Unless the Bears take Daniels and we're forced to settle for Caleb Williams.

He was on my **** list, with Menses, Robles, and Williams. Garcia and Williams are really having a great start. I would LOVE for Garcia to keep this up and lock down second. He has really cut down on the boneheaded plays (still has one here and there, but so do all players).

I've said this before (ironically as a defense of Robles when he has had tough stretches), but we got a little spoiled with Bryce and Soto starting and doing well in their age 19 seasons. Not everyone develops at the same pace. Garcia turns 24 next month. He's definitely getting to the age now where you will know what you've got, but a lot of guys show well defined improvement as they get into their mid to late 20s and hit their athletic peak.

he was getting on base and moving around the bases well. Because he was playing solid defense and at least getting himself into a position to score more than a few guys above him, I would have like to see him bumped up a few spots to try benefiting from it.

He’s still young and needs regular playing time that he would not have gotten now that Senzel is back.

  7. Caps showing a lot of resilience and grit. Dominant game.

Unfortunately Detroit scored two third period goals to force OT. That’s still going on… tbd if it will be one point for them or two.
edit- Detroit won. They remain tied with the Caps. We will need two points tomorrow.

Yeah there is no chance the Pats move down. But taking McCarthy at #3 over Daniels is...interesting. If we don't take Daniels I could see him falling all the way to 5. Vikings will then trade up for him I'd assume, but honestly it wouldn't shock me if the Vikings preference is McCarthy also.

I didn't read it like they'd take Maye/McCarthy over Daniels. I read it like this scenario assumes Daniels goes #2 and they have their pick between the other two.

  9. I've been on the Maye bandwagon for awhile but starting to come around to the idea of Daniels. I think a lot of the reason I've been scared of him, to the point I basically have written him off, is because both his body type, running style, and honestly his highlight tape too remind me so much of RG3. And I still have PTSD. I think it comes down to intangibles and coachability. RG3 did not do well here. How's Daniels? We don't and won't know. Hopefully the front office and coaches are all aligned if they take him.

But I want to be a devils advocate about one knock I keep hearing about Daniels. "He's old,", been in college for 5 years, didn't have a true breakout season until yr 5. These are valid criticisms and you can make an argument that this means he's not as projectable (ie what will/could he be in 5 years). He's closer to a finished product. Because we've had such a trend of QBs coming out early in the past few decades, we don't really have a great sample size of 4+ year players who are taken in upper end of the 1st round. But we do know there is a trend that young QBs who sit have better outcomes. IMO there couple be two things to this. One being that they are not tossed into the fire WAY before their athletic peak (let's call it age 26) and, for some of these guys, with only a few years of QB experience post-high school. Maybe a QB's "development" can take place in college just as well as in the pros. Maybe the tremendous level of experience he has will help him with his transition to the NFL, rather than limit his upside. I honestly don't know the answer to these questions. But it will be REALLY interesting to see if Daniels is successful, whether that's here or elsewhere.

Th problem is that everyone lives in Nova.  It would be a big ask to move everyone from Nova to PG.

that would suck for the team but then again nobody likes living in nova. At least at fedex they’d have the option of living out on the bay.

... the Giants are seriously considering taking a quarterback in the first round of this year's draft. The real mystery is whether one they like will be available at pick No. 6.

If not, they would have to trade up. And they might be willing to do that. But only if the right quarterback is still available.

And the quarterback who might tempt them to do that is North Carolina's Drake Maye.

He is the prospect who could most entice the Giants to make a blockbuster move up from No. 6, according to multiple NFL sources familiar with the Giants' thinking. With USC's Caleb Williams almost certain to be taken by the Chicago Bears at No. 1, the 21-year-old Maye is believed by many around the NFL to be the next quarterback on the Giants' list.

God I will puke if we draft Daniels and Giants trade up to 3 for Maye.

I can't find any link between Adam Peters and the current UNC coaching staff. Last time a team Peters worked for drafted a UNC player was 2013 when he was a scout for Denver, and the coaching staff for UNC was completely different. I'm also not sure why he would have been in North Carolina spending significant time scouting a presumptive top 5 QB while employed by San Francisco, who did not need a QB and was not going to be in position to draft top 5.

    I'm skeptical.

You probably should stick to badminton or table tennis then because this team hasn't selected a successful first round Qb since the Great Depression. He'll even that old commander in the rye dude wasn't even born yet. :P

LOL it's different now. Honestly I was not even the least bit interested when they drafted Haskins. It was a Snyder pick with a Snyder team. It felt inevitable that he was going to fail. I've been freebasing pure unfiltered hope since the team was sold, and a #2 overall QB bust would be such a damn buzzkill.

  14. Generally commentary… I don’t know about you guys but I am absolutely petrified of taking the wrong guy at 2, and having the guy we passed on go on to be a pro bowler with New England.

And either way. If Maye struggles and gets gun shy, and Daniels turns into the next Lamar. If Daniels has an RG3 career and Maye turns into the next Josh Allen. Or hell, if both of them turn out mediocre and McCarthy turns into a pro bowler for whoever trades to 4.

We’ve been through so much collectively as a fan base and finally seem to have a glimmer of hope with new ownership and staff. If our QB busts and the ones we pass on are successful, I’ll be crushed.

Harris and Rales both grew up in Maryland. They may or may not have some loyalty to the state in terms of location for a stadium practice facility.

FedEx as a possible practice location would make a lot of sense. The team already owns land there (I believe) and it's a ton closer to RFK than Ashburn is. The training facility could be a component of whatever Maryland and PG do to redevelop the land there once the stadium is torn down.

edit- LOL I missed the post at the top of this page that suggested exactly that. I'll amend my post to simple say "+1, great idea"

Losing 15lbs of fat and gaining 10lbs of muscle simply is not going to happen at the same time, sorry to break the news to you.

Losing 15lbs of fat takes a significant calorie deficit over time, and gaining 10lbs of muscle takes a significant calorie surplus over time.

You would be better off bulking up like 15-20lbs and then cutting down like 10-15lbs.

At your size, I would go for more than 1gram of protein per body weight if you want to put on size.  And add in some type of creatine blend as well.  You also did not mention your workout routine because that will also play a crucial role.  But you also aren't mentioning your total calorie intake.  If you say you eat 2 meals and one is 700 calories, I'm assuming your second one is close to that.  You aren't going to be gaining any mass at 1400 calories a day no matter how much of it is protein.

I also don't think you realize how much mass that actually is.  10 pounds of pure muscle is a lot, especially when you are 170lbs.

For what it's worth, on my working out journey from when I was 19 until now where I am at 42, 5'11, and I started at about 160lbs and have been 218lbs at my heaviest.  The past 15 or so years I have been fluctuating between like 200-215 just depending on what my goal is at the time.  So I know a thing or two about putting on mass and losing weight.  There is a lot of stuff I wish I knew early on for like the first 7 years where I was doing stuff wrong.

Yeah might be 10lb of fat down, 5lb of muscle up. I mentioned these are really just guesses. I'm probably taking in a total of 1800-2300 calories per day, depending on size of dinner and quantity of cheats/snacks (I do need to button up my diet a bit more).

But yeah, have been considering increasing the protein intake more and was just curious about the creatine part. The rest is really guesswork. Appreciate the input!

If you want to gain weight, you need to up calorie intake.  If you are in a calorie deficit, you aren't going to gain weight (mass).

If you want to lose weight, then you can stick to your calorie deficit but try to maximize your protein intake.

Based on what you are posting, you are not eating nearly enough food to try and put on any size, regardless of taking creatine or not.

And yes I realized that if you are starting out working out you can build muscle and get cut at the same time, but that won't last more than a couple months and you will benefit much more if you just start out doing it properly where you try to bulk first and then lean up after.

I should have specified.. I'm not sure exactly what my goal weight is going to be but its likely in the 165lb range. Weight is fine. But I'm trying to gain ~10lb of muscle while dropping ~15lb of fat if that makes sense. I still had a bit of visceral fat left to lose when I dropped to 158.. that process would have had a much better outcome if I had been focused more on strength training and protein intake. I was working out daily and maintaining a calorie deficit, but ended up losing a lot of muscle in that process too.

At the moment, in order to avoid that this time around I'm focusing on not having a big of a calorie deficit (ideally 200-300cal a day but that's just an estimate) while consuming a decent bit of protein. It fluctuates based on what I eat, but I'm guessing I'm between 100-120g per day (goal of 136g for 0.8g of protein per pound). As mentioned, this level of protein intake does seem to be helping, I'm really just curious about people's experience with creatine since I've read it's a great way to help during the kind of body recomp I'm aiming for.

  18. Hey all, interested in your opinions on creatine for building muscle. Pros/cons, side effects to look out for, etc.

I’ve been what is often described as “skinny fat” for most of my adult life, where it doesn’t really matter how much weight I lose, I still don’t have enough muscle to achieve the look I’m going for (literally got down to 158lb at 5’8” last year, and while I was thin I wasn’t happy with how I looked).

Sitting at 170 now and going through an attempt at body recomp, and early returns at drastically increasing my protein intake* have yielded some positive results. Worth staying on this path for awhile or should I consider adding creatine?

*diet consists of two meals a day, one being a 500-600 cal protein shake with 72g of whey. Plus whatever is in my dinner. I’m not sure how I push myself much higher than that while maintaining a small calorie deficit
