  1. I think its a stretch to always assume a shiny QB prospect made a difficult read of the defense... without knowing who was the primary receiver. or in his head was looking to throw to "his guy" regardless of what the D did. Did the coach tell him be aggressive this series? Or. that is a street grade DB target him! A QB can't see everything e.g. 1 DB of 5 that had outside leverage may not even be seen by the QB but if it helps the narrative we roll with hey he read that right and assume it points to future greatness. Did the QB really notice his 3rd read DB had outside leverage or are we assuming he did because there was a completion. Just throwing **** and ranting but something is wrong in the way we grade QBs since so many experts fail in their prediction. Sugar coating plays is a suspect. In the end I think the NFL playbook and OL are huge factors in a QBs success but we are stuck focusing on the pass past because its all we have to look at.
  2. I liked 2Hill2... but now theorize he would come in fresh legs and get a pressure vs an OL expecting the exact same predictable front, or were gassed. We all wanted more Toohill after seeing those flashes. Well, he got his chance once we traded about our bookends and... crickets. Likely not his fault as I am sure Ron's checked out game plan was basically rush in lanes contain. Hopefully our crap coaches didn't ruin him but they did get him to Boof on the cheap.
  3. Apparently the Saints are saying they knew his neck was jacked. Sounds to me like they are trying to save face since they can't get out of an iron clad contract anyways. Why would they ink HIM if he was injured and going to miss camp anyways?? Sign him after camp for dirt cheap.
  4. I feel like the Saints should attempt to void the contract. Its America, land of the lawyer and lawsuit. Saints GM to their Trainer: why didn't you make him do neck tests dammit! Saint Trainer: Why did you even bring in him in the first place, and then ink him to that ridonk contract??
  5. I like Maye because he looks like Herbert when in his #10 blue. Is that shallow and wrong? /s Show me your bust odds (never top 15ish) Caleb 45% Maye 60% Daniels 62% JJ 72%
  6. I think RG3 made a good point. We know all about dead men walking lame duck coaches and how the wheels WILL fall off the wagon and there will be a sell off. Before the year even ends perhaps. The absolutists will still say: Chicago WILL take Caleb and we will NOT trade up no matter how much smoke is bellowing out of quicksand QB land Chicago, ignoring who our GM covets. They already sold low on Fields and Caleb balking may force him to be sold low as well. Perfect if AP wants CW. Chicago brass probably heard RG3 loud and clear and will in a panic try to firm up the coaching staff by extending their failed coach that showed he cannot develop a QB lol. Perfect again. And Calebs dad has already heard what RG3 said, but not from RG3.
  7. I figured we would nab Hollywood. I wanted Pittman. And Evans dammit. So what's the plan at WR... I guess it will be addressed via the draft or elevating Dyami. Crowder could certainly do more if they want to bump up his workload. I may not take crazy pills but think he was our best WR to close out the year. I dont think he can fill Sam's cleats though. I am wearying of drafting a WR even though many can be productive early in their careers. I still have PTSD from drafting WRs and they have to simmer like raw QBs for 3 years, before they are full time productive players.
  8. After seeing what other QBs are fetching in trades, I suspect those that believe in Sam, forever now known as the Sam Huff Fam, feel somewhat vindicated in their laptop GM skills. One thing I am curious about. For all the Jay talk, he used to want Kirk to throw the ball without fear of INTs. Which Kirk refused to do. Not even in practice. I wonder if EB ever told Sam to do the same specifically when INTs wrecked the back third of his season.
  9. FWIW for all those sacks assuming may sagging mamory serves me correctly, it sure seems like Howell didn't fumble very often. Also worth noting, in this day and age of advanced stats FINALLY - didn't he lead the league in pass attempts? I would blindly assume the league leader in PA would also lead the league in sacks, and INTs. He played in a tough MF division the front of our 3 divisional rivals were stout. I am happy to hear he had many teams calling for his services for it shows him passing my eye test for 10 weeks means it wasnt blind homerism..
  10. It's a wake? Scary Movie 3 - great movie
  11. Lets move Forbes to free!? Kidding aside, I sure hope Quan Martin pans out and salvages our draft last year by serving us well at free. I may be wrong but I get the idea that the days of the gross overpays for free agents are dwindling...
  12. Kurl may be proof of what I'd call damaged goods. Maybe even all our free agents, that aren't getting top dollar. I am on record for wanting RR/JDR both s'canned the moment the sale was complete yes a brief 8 weeks before week 1 in large part so our best players wouldn't continue to be ruined by the worst coaching staff in the league. Waste a year of their short careers. I know I know its impossible to have named interim coaches EB/Kerrigan for the year and get rid of those 2 losers as a priority. But good players on the worst defense and crap team overall - we killed the value of our own players on a punted season for what exactly, to respect Ron? Maybe Sam Howell aside. Or, maybe not.
  13. What do you mean, they aren't trading it? Heads up speaking in absolutes without proof detracts from your otherwise insightful posts. To all the fellow Howlers out there that still believed in the kid, that didn't believe he had his only chance and failed, and that he wouldn't be unloaded for a 5th.
  14. Grant Paulsen seems surprised at the return for Howell. Not me, he showed enough last year to these eyes and the tykes first game and win last year. I said I would take a 3rd for him and while we really only moved up a bunch of draft spots ~25x2 feel good with the return. I hope he lights it up in Seattle. I may be alone but am happy to see AP moving picks up in the draft.
  15. I can't get excited about special teams players or signings anymore. I miss that part of the game but its all touchbacks and fair catches now. Ohhh the excitement of a possible missed XP. Long live BMitch Mike Nelms and the return game. Yes I remember Crowder had that one.
  16. I'll be the first to say I dont give a rats ass if Curl goes. Maybe a 1 year prove it to stay.. the days of the high ticket contracts F that we need flexibilty right now to find fits on our new D. Curl was a large part of our pathetic defense (had to share SOME blame) and if we are cleaning house there is no need to pay top dollar to someone who likely had their development stunted or regressed.
  17. Jake Fromm fromm the previous regime... I presume he's gotta be replaced by a KK disciple, or unless the system is easy peasy and experience in his system is less important maybe he sticks around as a non threatening option at QB... I assume we can proclaim our offense as air raid officially.
  18. Great analogy! hmmm but it seems like some lucky ****s have found a way to get all 3 to play well together though. Maybe the root of the problem that some ahem unnamed folks may attest to, is marriage in the first place. Don't go all in; keep options open. On a completely unrelated note, is the rate at which relationships fail happen to be the same rate that QBs fail?
  19. I'll die on the hill opposing the theory that it kills a highly touted rookies career, if there is another youngish QB on the roster. We hear experts support the 1 QB theory every year. Gotta trade Howell if we take a QB. Can anyone ever recall a proven QB say being handed the job was what made him succeed? Or a failed QB, blame a younger lessor QB on the roster for his failure? Is there any proof? It seems all psychological, so if you aint a sports psychologist understand why I climb my hill waiting for proof to knock me off. If the QB is that fragile mentally that he is derailed by looking over his shoulder at his young backup (but not a vet backup?), and not by a Micah Parsons at 25mph with a clear path to taking his head off because our LT got confused by a stunt, his chances of succeeding as a franchise QB are very low. The position commands mental toughness; first and foremost over physical IMO. It all starts in camp, where competition abounds (and the QB never gets hit at all - no real physical challenge). Building up to the game day ultimate competition test.
  20. If APs real target is Caleb I think it'd be glorious to see Chicago get squeezed by Caleb. Sure its "all fan speculation" that Caleb doesnt want to go to Chicago but QBs have done it before so its not unprecedented to speculate especially with the tells we are seeing and of course months to kill the time. Chicago tap dancing about what to do with Fields; stuck with him since it seems no team is willing to pay a premium for him coupled with them feeling the pressure to not take Caleb if he may NOT want to play there... that hurts whatever perceived value the 1OA holds for the windy ****ty. AP doesn't even have to overbid to try to trade up if he wants Caleb, he can almost just wait and let Caleb do the dirty work for him, and force Chicago to target a different QB or lower the asks on both their strong positions. Just watch, somehow 2 years from now, Chicago will still be looking for a QB.
