  1. Mayweather hasn't been calling him out for months in public to fight on May 5th, he only got loud a few days ago because there is a hard window there now and it's an issue of 'accept it then or it can't happen and it's all on you!' type thing. The date of May 5th has been there for months because it was Mayweather's next scheduled date to fight whoever, Manny never had anything scheduled then because he fought 2 months after Mayweather's last fight. Anyways, I'm not a big fan of Bob Arum but we'll see what gets settled. In the end the reason that 3-4 weeks is such a big deal is because of Mayweather himself and what he did. I realize it's his personal life but his personal life is what caused this issue.
  2. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, I suppose. You can't get upset though with people pointing out why Mayweather is yapping about May 5th, he's going to jail. Hitting women is never cool, beating the mother of your children in front of them can't be defended. He deserves all the comments he gets for doing that. Personally, I'm not 'scared" for the fight to happen, it's the only fight in boxing right now that I want to see happen. If you ever watch a Mayweather 24/7, all the guy does it talk **** about making money and how much he gets paid. The guy views it as a business and the best business move is to fight at the end of May where they can make the most off the fight. Don't be so quick to buy into his latest trick of trying to pretend if they don't fight on May 5th it's because anyone is scared of him. He already tried to make up lies about Manny being on steroids and got sued for it, then didn't have the balls to show up and defend himself on it when the time came.
  3. http://www.worldboxingnews.net/2012/01/bob-arum-speaks-out-to-explain-whole.html ..."Arum pointed out that “in order to maximize revenues from the fight you have to have a stadium larger than the MGM Grand which holds 16,500. The people in Las Vegas, the Wynn and the Venetian who have tremendous resources, want to put a stadium up across the street from their properties. They can put up a temporary stadium for 45,000 people. The guy who built the temporary stadium when Larry Holmes and Gerry Cooney fought years ago is available now to build a temporary stadium. But that wouldn’t be ready with any degree of certainty in the beginning of May but it would be available at the end of May.” Arum said “the economic difference is tremendous. If we did it on May 5 we will be limited to the MGM Grand we would probably do a record gate of $20 million. If we did it in this new temporary arena we would do a gate of around $60 million so the difference even if you take off the cost of building the structure ($7 million) which would be amortized over two years, is a minimum of $40 million. Its an extra $20 million for each fighter which is a lot of money. But that’s a choice the fighters have to make.” ... So that's part of Arum's reasoning on wanting to push it to the end of May. (Yes, only part)
  4. Really? Mayweather beats the mother of his kids in front of the kids and gets sentenced to jail and now it's up to Manny to accomodate him? That sounds kind of absurd to me. Floyd may call him a punk but it's pretty obvious who the punk in the situation is with how they act in their personal lives. I'm sure he can fight and go to jail a week later, the thought of the massive payday he just got will help get him through those rough nights... Anyways, it's all part of the game...you never agree to terms they put out. Never give them any control...the mind games of boxing.
  5. I've seen Overeem get dominated by Brazillian fighters so many times at this point it's almost to be expected. I realize most of them were at 205, but going up to heavyweight has only slowed down Overeem. I mean Shogun and Little Nog dominated him twice. I think it's totally absurd to think because he just beat one of the worst standup fighters in all of MMA that he's going to now go dominate JDS who is a faster and more accurate striker. Overeem doesn't have some iron chin either, he's been put to sleep plenty in his career. I'm not saying it's one sided for JDS, but he'll be the favorite as he should be.
  6. I wouldn't be so quick on that....JDS is a far far bigger challenge than Lesnar, who can't handle any kind of standup. JDS thrives on that type of fight.
  7. Wow, Lesnar is done. Interesting...after that fight though I can't say I'll miss him.
  8. I wouldn't be so quick on that....JDS is a far far bigger challenge than Lesnar, who can't handle any kind of standup. JDS thrives on that type of fight.
  9. I like Lesnar, but I had no desire to JDS dominate him. Overeem proves a far more interesting matchup.
  10. Refresh it, the first channel is running quite smooth for me now. It was lagging before but haven't had a skip/pause in 10+ minutes. ---------- Post added December-31st-2011 at 12:18 AM ---------- Brock has the worst standup in MMA.
  11. hah Joe Rogan "He's just a big giant viking dude"
  12. I just kind of throw him in with them because he's always with him and he was the first one to jump on Mayhem at that Strikeforce brawl, which seemed like a punk move.
  13. Yup, the Diaz brothers and their little buddy Melendez are world class d-bags but they're very good. ---------- Post added December-30th-2011 at 11:56 PM ---------- Diaz won, but he isn't walking out without looking like he was in a fight at least.
  14. C'mon Cerrone, don't let me down. I can't stand Nate Diaz.
  15. hah exactly....I don't dislike Fitch, but in generally I think his fights tend to be boring.
  16. Fitch can say what he likes, but he would still be out cold if the ref didn't jump in....because he was about to get his head beat in.
  17. hah yeah...just a *little* early for that. Bones and his absurdly long body still have an 8+ inch reach advantage on him.
  18. Matyushenko might be experienced but apparently age hasn't given him common sense. Even I know not to run in like that. =p
  19. Yeah the first thing I thought when I saw him on the PPV and not the freebie undercard was "wait...who?" He's looking pretty legit though so far.
  20. Yeah, Mayweather is a punk. He's a great boxer but as a person he's a punk. Have fun in jail for beating up the mother of your kids in front of them. At this point I almost don't care about the fight.
  21. Pretty much, when you live in total isolation and are told on a regular basis how bad everyone outside of NK has it compared to you, you have a pretty skewed world view. There are a lot of people in NK right now that are very upset that he's gone.
  22. What an utterly ridiculous standard to try and create. Obviously there was no chance of improvement while he was alive and in power, the only way for anything to get better was his death. In theory I guess it could actually get worse, but that's very unlikely since things are so bad there. We're just going to have to agree to disagree on this, you have some bizarre logic going on that common sense can't penetrate.
  23. I'm celebrating what his death means, you can't separate his death from what it means to millions of people. This is nothing like saying "YES! Person X just died!" and it being something of no consequence.
  24. So if the only way the lives of millions of people can improve is by a cruel dictator dying....people are wrong for wanting that to happen?
  25. No one is telling you how you should feel, but you're calling people names who feel different. If you want to start in on this though, it's a naive world view to believe the death of no human is a time for celebration. It comes from someone who never had to live under the rule of someone such as that.
