  1. I'll admit I don't know jack squat about what would/wouldn't work coaching-wise, or even if it could happen, but I would love to see Rex come be Defensive Coordinator for the Eagles.
  2. Maybe it's the defender in me, but couldn't that goal have been disallowed due to offside? Seemed to go right between legs of player in offside position (:10 mark). Unless someone else was keeping them on.
  3. ^^ One-way street going away form billboard. Funny ad though.
  4. ^^ God help you if that was your gf/wife, because you would be laughing your ass off and be in huge trouble.
  5. Wow....Elaine's dancing has not improved in 10+ years!
  6. Funny...in my sad state after the US was bounced out last night, I was just starting to plan for redoing my 2nd story deck/screened porch. Originally hoped I could use most of the structural members (posts, joists), but it looks like I have to replace all five 6x6" posts. Deck is 21 years old and I still think I can get away with keeping most of the joists, but replacing the posts is going to be a bear because they're buried directly into concrete. I would like to keep exact same design and put posts in same place. Anyone ever do something like that, and if so, how? Cut post & jackhammer concrete up? ugh.
  7. I found this laughable: "Dallas Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones, a postseason spectator for the fourth consecutive year, is in favor of expanding the NFL playoffs." Maybe if he said it BEFORE they were eliminated for the third straight year it wouldn't sound like the Marines having to institute a "flexed arm hang". http://espn.go.com/dallas/nfl/story/_/id/10237964/jerry-jones-dallas-cowboys-favor-expanding-nfl-playoffs Maybe if he said it
  8. "Colombian women on 'crossed legs' sex strike over crumbling highway" http://worldnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/11/05/21317091-colombian-women-on-crossed-legs-sex-strike-over-crumbling-highway?lite= BOGOTA, Colombia — Sex sells, but no sex? That apparently gets the job done. To ensure that friends and neighbors could commute along a crumbling highway in a timely manner, a group of women in a remote Colombian town decided to cross their legs. The women of Barbacoas made headlines in 2011 by announcing they would refuse to have sex with their husbands and partners to protest the terrible condition of the road. When not closed by frequent flooding and mudslides, the 35-mile stretch could take up to 24 hours to travel. Analysis: Works at my house too.
  9. Was watching CNN (I think?) a few nights ago and they had Howard Dean & Newt Gringrich on in a fairly amicable discussion about Obamacare and healthcare in general. One issue Dean brought up was "we" should be paying doctors to keep people healthy, not paying them for tests. Was curious if anyone knew what he meant about that, because he didn't really explain it. IMO, people who live unhealthily are going to have more medical costs, and how do you make a doctor's paycheck dependent upon the willingness of a "stranger" to be healthier? Serious discussion only, as I honestly am curious about this and don't understand how it would be possible.
  10. I think everyone can understand the struggles to get an online system up and running, and the difficulties with that. What irritates me, and I find impossible to believe, is Sebelius saying Obama was "blindsided" by this. Considering ACA is most likely the crown jewel of his presidency, you would imagine he was getting weekly status reports (I know I would be for similar scale event on my job). So he was therefore either ignoring the warnings and telling them to "October 1 no matter what", or Sebelius truly kept him in the dark and should be fired today, although I don't believe the latter.
  11. Maybe I'm an old crank, but US Soccer's tweets last night kind of irritated/embarrassed me. It's like they were being sent out by a high school kid. Why mock Mexico? What do we have to gain by it? I could maybe see if this was MLS or EPL teams, but not international. It's not like we are going to crush in WC either, so would like to see us keep our mouths shut and just play soccer. Yes, I know I probably overreacted, but I hate trash talk, expecially by organizations!
  12. ^^^ "Thanks, from now on I'll poop in the shower". Hilarious.
  13. I have 3 projects I want to do within the next calendar year. Redo of porch posts/railings/concrete steps, replacement of decking/railing/screened porch on back of house and giving in to inability of grass to grow on side of house and installing natural tone walkway/stairs w/ shade beds. So, right now I'm in planning stage of porch remodel (8'x35' poured concrete). Previous owners painted the concrete, but it looks like crap, especially where it sees traffic. I'm open to ideas on what to do with it. I had previously (2-3 years ago) tried cleaning/etching and restaining/painting it, but it quickly peeled and looked bad. Anyone have this issue? Did you strip paint (if so, how)? Repaint or leave bare? Sanding and pressure washing don't work, and I'm not a big fan of chemical paint remover, which leaves sand-blasting, but even that sounds like a major job. Thoughts?
  14. I've done a meandering brick paver sidewalk before. I think the "ThisOldHouse" one is complicated b/c they are setting the stone in cement, whereas you are thinking of setting in sand only. IMO if you are decently handy, have good knees/back, you can do it. Getting the base ready (digging out, leveling and compacting) takes the most amount of time. When I did the paver sidewalk, they were interlocking, which made it a bit easier I would think than using irregular stone shapes. When we finished, one person would spread sand and other guy used the power compactor to work the sand into the cracks which locked the pavers tight.
  15. I'm not an HVAC pro, but I wouldn't think dirty vents/lines would be the primary reason for significant temp differences. Is it also the coolest in the winter? Are the supply lines sheet metal or are they those flexi-tubes they lay down (maybe her line is not straight). Ductwork correct size? Insulation good on all exposed sides? Anything that generates heat that borders her walls? If anything, I would hire an HVAC guy on the side to get him to come out and advise. Good pro could probably figure it out w/in an hour or so of exploring attic & house.
  16. "Them" will most definitely involve others beside N/S Korea, most notably us, as well.
  17. Bigger issue to doing drywall vs. drop ceiling is if the builder was "lazy" or if he was able make the ducting, wiring, posts, etc. easy to build around by recessing them or condensing them. If you have several HVAC lines atop the joists, your drywall ceiling is going to look weird unless you build down to make it level. Very few basements allow for ceilings similar to other floors in the house, unfortunately. It could be done, but takes some forethought/planning.
  18. Gotcha. I used to have a kid on my soccer team who's dad was a professional videoagrapher (sp?) and he would give a fantastic video to me after each game. Was nice to have when I had a chance to watch & learn from it.
  19. Wouldn't a 10' step ladder work just as well? And be easier to "build"?
  20. Assuming about 550-600sqft of flooring, I would think your materials cost for sheet vinyl would be less than $1,200, unless you're going with extreme top-end product. The labor of tearing up old & removing/reinstalling toilet & appliances is what is driving the price up. Seems a bit high to me, but I'm cheap when it comes to paying someone to do work inside my house. Wouldn't hurt to get a couple of other businesses out to give you an estimate. PF
  21. Yeah that HVAC line isn't NEAR strong enough to hold up those beams...gonna have to beef that baby up!
  22. I consider myself fairly handy, but I have NEVER had a plumbing project (no matter the size) go according to plan. There's a reason those guys charge $60+ per hour!
  23. Great time at the game last night, even if I thought the referee screwed it up with an early PK. US lost their composure after that and didn't get it back until later in that half (at which time they were down 2-1). The goal that they allowed to make it 3-1 seemed (to me anyway) to be a crappy lack of transition b/c the US thought (looked like rightfully so) that Gomez(?) was taken down from behind on a breakway and kind of stood around looking at the ref like "are you kidding me?" as Brazil raced the other way with the ball. Donovan looked like he had the flu last night, and I'm a big LD fan. He was getting schooled by Marcelo all night and seemed uninterested in really fighting for the ball. Haven't watched Bradley in awhile, but as others have said, he looked very good with his head up. Not sure what Klinsmann is pushing wrt WBs, but they seemed to be late in joining the attack, and understandably so due to the entire backline's problems last night. Overall a fun game to attend, perfect weather and exciting moments throughout the game.
  24. Amazing. Their footskills are better than mine! Not saying much though. I use basketball dribbling glasses for 2 touch, no-pressure, passing skills with U14 travel players and it's amazing how much it affects their play.
