  1. Yeah, that has some different specifics, so it seems OTC had a few things off. That roster bonus year one seems super specific, which seems weird. Almost like signing bonus went higher so they took ~42k off roster bonus year 1. Base, bonus and roster bonus didn't add up to 13mill, so I knew something had to be wrong. Tell Wes I like OTC's version better and I'm giving him a pay cut. Haha.
  2. https://twitter.com/Jaankhan_/status/1245869500055994372/photo/1 I don't know if this will post, but the math is wrong in the above tweet. The bonus is 1 million per year- So year 1 1mill base + 1 mill prorated signing bonus + 468,750 if he plays all 16. Year 2- 3.5 mill base + 1 mill prorated + 500K game bonus (5mill hit) Year 3- 4.5 mill base + 1 mill prorated + 500K game bonus (6 mill hit) If cut after year one there would be a 2 mill dead cap hit, not 200k.
  3. With Quarantine my days are all blurred together a bit, so I did have an oh crap moment and then check the date. Haha
  4. For a 5th this is solid, plus people can stop worrying about trading for and/or paying for Cam.

!!!!0mgz!!!! Trent Williams finally showed up

Don't forget, even if he starts the year with us there is a trade deadline in season. The one we pretended to want to trade him last year. He should be motivated to maul people with us and treat it like an extended tryout for other teams.

There are rumors people are hesitant to give up a second. If Tampa agrees the value is similar but slightly worse due to future year, I think it'd be worth it. I'd much rather first this year, I just don't think it's likely with everything we've seen.

    I'd be ok with a 2021 1st.
  8. I don't disagree it may be less, however I don't think you franchise a guy aiming for a 4th/5th. Maybe they only get 2nd or 3rd, but I think if the plan was to trade, they franchise and aim higher than mid-late overall pick.
  9. That is true. However, #40 and maybe get a 4th or future 3rd seems possible the way they are doing things. Consolation, but better than our current situation.
  10. Yeah, I'd have done that and taken Johnson as well in some capacity. Get a 3rd from AZ and it would be like a future 2nd for Hopkins. Oh silly dreams... I'd happily take #40 off their hands.

In a trade, the signing team takes on the entire paid monies. Usually if you did a 4 year 60 mill deal, you'd have say 20 mill signing bonus and 4 years at 10 mill average. Cap hit each year would be 15 mill per. If we paid TW the 20 million and then traded him, we'd eat the entire 20 mill in the cap this year as dead money and the other team would have 4 years at 10 mill per. So I think it's doable, but I've never seen a team do it. edit: https://overthecap.com/position/left-tackle/ That would take TW from 3rd highest paid to 18th overall. Ironically, just above the range where you'll find the Browns and Jets LT salaries on the scale (position not actual salary).

If they really want to get the $$ gone for David Johnson and it makes this (#8) doable, I'd take him back. I think he is another year removed from injury and is closer to Christian McCaffrey. Oh course we'd still have injury concerns all over, but I still think Johnson just needs to right scheme again. I see they are considering franchising Drake and that would be a ton of money for the 2 backs. Cutting Johnson costs them money, but a trade would give them more flexibility. For us, Johnson would have 10 mill hit this year and nothing guaranteed next year (with one more year at 8 mill if we wanted him). We'd net a little cap space overall with Trent heading West. Also, I think Simmons would be at 8 and would be happy to see Young/Simmons. Yeah, we need OT....but damn. Well, medical is always there, agree with that. I just mean if he gets to put on a show, teams might be more willing to move picks. I kind of hope he makes some visits.

Since he has team permission to seek a trade and incentive to get paid, I wonder if teams can hold workouts. His ability to prove he's worth the money would also help our leverage that he's a healthy pro=bowl worthy trade piece.
