  1. JDS is booked with Miocic, a fight Junior already pulled out of. When you look at it not as a JDS fan but from a UFC marketing perspective it makes sense: they need to build up other contenders-like Miocic & pulling him from a fight with JDS again means you have to reschedule that fight before a title fight since all other competitors at 265 aren't all that. If JDS wins the interim belt, do you really want to see JDS Cain 4? As a JDS fan that might be a yes but not too many other people do. If Hunt somehow wins-and Dear God, Buhdda, Vishnu, Mohammed & Ron L Hubbard PLEASE let me see hunt with gold around fat belly- then you have 2 fights for Cain lined up with Hunt & Werdum waiting in the wings. If JDs wins you get a fight you can't sell but at least if Hunt wins you have options. Hunt was also looking for a fight. I gotta laugh, I pointed this out a while ago with how shallow the talent is at 265, all it takes is one injury to a key fighter to throw the whole division into a panic. As for Cung, that's what happens when you pay the cheapest non accredited lab in Hong Kong to do your lab tests. I work in the lab business & have heard of that lab, it's like 1 step above taking a home pregnant test at that place, hardly any actual lab techs at all, just a bunch of machine operators who would have no way to verify anything-if machine says yes, then it's a yes, so I'm not that surprised.
  2. Dana said Rory gets the next title shot in Canada. Then again, I'll believe it when I see it. Rory v Lawler 1 was all about Rory trying to set up too much off his jab that Lawler parried all night so Rory didn't get anything going. I think Rory is smart enough to not rely on the jab vs a southpaw again, but the guy tends to make big mistakes at odd times that cost him vs the very elite fighters. I don't consider either Lawler or Hendricks as elite fighters so I like Rory's chances but would not be surprised to see him beat due to a brain fart.
  3. I'm glad Hunt won, I like the guy but I really don't want to see him go 5 vs Cain, he'd be able to take a ton of punishment and probably collapse before getting KO'd, I'm afraid he might die in the days following that fight. This is what I'm getting at, HW is thinner than MW when Silva was crushing people. Unless Miocic absolutely destroys JDS, the next challenger will have to be proped up. Best thing for the UFC is for Cain to lose to Werdum & Cain getting injured so there is no immediate rematch. Jury looks to be climbing the rankings with stopping Gomi, good for him, he deserves it. I want to see him fight higher ranked guys in his division anyways, this win obviously helps.
  4. Even people who dint like the Reem might pick him in this fight, but as (pre horse roids) reem fan, I dont like this fight for him. I don't think he can throw his liver kick high enough to hit Struve unless Struve is crouching. Plus low hand vs. a tall guy with long arms? That doesn't bode well for Alistar. And why the heck is this fight not headlining the first UFC Amsterdam card? They are both Dutch, & the Dutch love kickboxing so regulation should not be an issue. I want to blaze one IN a UFC arena, Diaz brothers & Matt Riddle will be on the undercard.
  5. I try not to use UFC rankings since they are useless & don't mean anything anyways, if a fighter is ranked #6 but is then given a title shot, he instantly shoots up the rankings, sometimes to #1. I also like to use rankings that show fighters from other promotions to see who they might target for a top fight in a weak division, like heavyweight. Mmarankings.com. You seroiusly think any correction to those rankings matter? That's my point entirely, Cain, then JDS then the rest, most if not all couldn't get by Junior. Junior is now the 265 gatekeeper.
  6. 1. I agree, but who else is there? Hunt or Miocic might get propped up if they can win an exciting fight, but both of those are shaky. 2. Just the same amount if chance JDS has to KO someone like he did first time around. Werdum has skill no doubt, but it's no where near the level Cain is at. Its Cain, JDs & then the pack, at least for now. Best the UFC can hope for is a Werdum win & a rematch since that has a better chance at selling than any other option on the table.
  7. Unless Jon Jones steps up a weightclass soon, I think we might be in for Cain JDS 4 that's how shallow HW is. It's Cain, then JDS then whoever they prop up for a title fight-Werdum's turn now and then it just falls off a cliff. Thank God Cains hurt all the time or somebody might notice this stuff. After Werdum, who gets a title shot, assuming it's not a rematch? If Mark Hunt beats Roy Nelson impressively, he might be the first fighter to go loss, draw, then win before a title fight. Rankings have Travis Browne at 4, Josh Barnett at 5, then Hunt, Nelson, Miocic & you get the point.
  8. That shouldn't affect the fight, usually no jail time for that, although I did see an article where he got another one last December. If he can't go, do you think they even dare ask Machida to take his spot? Who else is out there ready to fight early 2015? EDIT: just read the article, Diaz got popped on Dec. 12, missed multiple court dates and was arrested on August 21st & posted a $25k bail. This second DUI happened September 6th, 2 weeks & 2 days after posting bail, explaining the suspended license charge. He also tried to destroy evidence-maybe smash/throw the breathalyzer? Someone get this dude a driver, or a car service.
  9. The real trick is doing it late enough in the fight card so they don't switch hockey to the main screen. seriously, I went to a bar that did that once, only had like 10 people watching the fight, then 2 men's league hockey teams come in,25 or so & they wanted to watch hockey. I think it was Bones Chael, or Bones Vitor Belfort. But after getting your butt kicked for punching the bartender for changing to hockey, I get stitched up for free thanks to universal healthcare! (dental not included)
  10. I think he sucks at conversion to be honest, probably 105kg, which is 231lbs, & just a touch of troll. Facts aren't going to stand in the way of my dream though. I'm an analytical thinker, very logical & practical, but not in this issue. The Reem also part of the foundation of my imaginary 225lb UFC weight class. Just let me keep my dream, along with the dream of seeing a gogoplata finish on ever fight card.
  11. You forget I live in Canada & I have a sure fire trick for that; turn one TV to hockey, even a replay of 1992 Quebec Nordiques game vs the Hartford Whalers as a "classic" game on the NHL network will do-and within an hour, 80% of the bar congregates around that one screen, the other 20% turn to watch it. I'm a smoker so I'm outside most of the time anyways, leaning on a wall watching an outdoor tv is good enough for me. I don't think that fight goes 5 rounds though, either Dilly did what got him the belt more often & earlier, or Barao figures out a way to break him down, slip in a knockdown shot @ swarms for TKO or submission finish, so standing for 10-15 minutes won't be that big of a deal. On a side note, The Reem either trolled twitter or sucks at kg to lbs conversion or both today. Cerrone posted a pick of him, Reem & a few other MMA'ers playing ultimate frisbee where the Reem looks pretty trim. When asked how much he weighed-by multiple people- he responded 210. I doubt he's 210, but he's closer to that than 265. I think he hot lazy towards the end of his LHW career & the cut became a problem, but he really wasn't big enough to fight at 265. Then he got on the horse juice & ballooned up because I think he thought he was out if options. Most here doubted this before, but it is getting closer to happening in my opinion, even if it's more than the 5 pounds away that he claims he is. I want to see Reem Jones so bad I'll cling to any sign of hope of it happening. Doubt he could best Jones, just would love to see how he would react to 1 good liver kick from the Reem, plus Jones has never really fought a decent kickboxer, which would be interesting to see IMO. Again, would have been better a few years ago, but I'll take it now if I can get it.
  12. I'm thinking of getting that tattoo'd across my chest in olde English script. Easily the most beautiful post in this thread. Ever.
  13. I think bars will be packed for 177....because no one will want to buy it at home outside your hardcore Barao or Dillishaw fans. There's no way I even try to go see it before the main event that card is so weak. The Prelims for 178 are better fights than the PPV card minus the main event, another event that looked killer only to be derailed by injury. Here's hoping 179 builds up nice & strong after starting well with Aldo Mendes 2 & Phil Davs Glover.
  14. Yeah I figured he must have had one eye swell shut on him to end up looking that bad. Maybe not retire, but work on some boxing defense, that's painful just to look at. He could still make a ton of money in Asian cinema, 40+ is old to be getting punched in the face for a living.
  15. Bisping did THAT to Cung Le? With what, a metal pipe? Dude's got pillows for hands. Retire Cung, time for some action movies, even if the film doesn't make it to North America, as long as the money's green, take it. I seriouslly thought that was photoshopped, but then I realized nobody hates Cung Le enough to do that to him, other than Bisping apparently.
  16. I doubt I'll get a preseason game up here, but that doesn't mean I'll watch the FN either. I might check out Carmount Thales, then leave it on while I do something else to watch Bendo, the co does nothing for me at all. On a side note, Jordan Mein's dad got arrested at the weigh ins for sexual battery. This one is on FS1 right? Up here I found out we get the FS1 and the north American & Brazilian FightPass cards on TV, only international FightPass fights aren't televised, which is pretty sweet. Move to Canada & save yourself $10 a month, Ha!
  17. Yes, but at different ends of the globe. 48 Bisping Cung Le takes place in Macau China, 49 is in Tulsa Oklahoma. Macau is like 12 hours time difference from the East Coast, so That means 48 will be done around noon EST Saturday, I think.
  18. That's why I said a few years ago would be better, & there is a photo of him circulating now where he's not close to 205, but closer to that than whatever he ballooned up to. Yeah it sucks to see an old giant fight for the title past their prime, but look at Vitor or Dan Henderson (another guy who lost a title shot & never got it back), they both fought for belts well past their due date, & Vitor Oliveira is getting another one. I'd rather see old Reem fight than old Belfort. I'm also looking for opponents past the next obvious 3, and outside of a rematch I can't think of any. Even if Jones loses there are really only 3 or 4 other worthy candidates for a title shot at 205. This is getting to Silva v Irvin or Forrest in terms of cleaning out the division, assuming he keeps the belt of course. It's a stretch, but what else is there? I doubt a current 205'er could put together 2-3 impressive wins in the next 18-24 months to throw their name in the hat, if anyone has a guy in mind, please share.
  19. Yeah he took a fight, but I don't think he was even offered the chance to wait, I think they just said fights off. Now Jackson says Bones got hurt sparring with The Reem. If he would get of his horse juice-which he might have to with the new testing-that's a 205 title fight I would love to see, a few years ago would have been better but what are you gonna do? Jones has got DC, Rumble & Gus 2 left before he runs out if contenders with not a decent prospect in sight. Look at any LHW rankings and tell me what guy ranked below 5 would you want to see fight Bones for the title? I really hope skinny Reem comes back & that fight happens, he'll have about 2 years to trim down while the guys in front of them take their shot.
  20. Well that is logical, but this is the UFC. If that theory held, Weidman would have fought Vitor already, TJ Grant would be fighting Pettis for 155 & I'm forgetting about a lower weight guy....Eric Koch maybe? Had a fight with Aldo, Aldo pulled out & never got his title shot back. If the UFC hadn't put DC in the fight, maybe a Rashad or Machida rematch, then I think they might have tried to make Gus II, but with Bones DC a fight they think will sell well, why not keep it? Plus, even if Gus loses a fight, he could easily fill in as a replacement fighter & still sell well. I think the UFC learned their lessons about rushing rematches from Cain JDS, especially when it looks like Jones is running out if contenders at 205. Why rush it? I think we only see Bones Gus II after all contenders-even suspect ones- have been eliminated. I'm personally hoping Gus Jones II becomes a contender bout for the title after Jones loses it.
  21. Sorry for derailing this post into one in domestic violence, but these are extreme cases I think that warrant some attention. Back to fighting, I'd love to see Gina sign with Bellator, or this could be a strong arm negotiation tactic with the UFC. Hard to tell, her reps could also sell her as being the champ in another organization, it's the safer play for her brand at least. Also bypasses a lot of talent the UFC gobbled up. What the women's division like in Bellator? I admit I have no clue, didn't know they had women until this announcement actually.
  22. Anyone see the War Machine Christy Mack story? She just came out with a statement on the assualt and it is horrific to say the least. Details are so graphic, I'm afraid of annoying the sensors here so I'll just post the link. War Machine is still at large. http://www.mmamania.com/2014/8/11/5991229/adjective-christy-mack-issues-full-statement-in-wake-of-alleged I should probably point out, War Machine was a fighter with Bellator, who released him over the weekend & Christy Mack is a pornstar. This along with another former UFC fighter Grispi who last week beat up his girlfriend - sicced his 2 pitbulls on her which did bite & tear her flesh- is not making the sport look good. Here's hoping all the victims (2 from War Machine, at least 1 from Grispi) make a speedy recover and that both cowards of attackers get what's coming to them, legal or otherwise. These weren't a couple getting mad & the guy snapping by throwing a punch or a slap, these where full on assualts that could have lead to deaths.
  23. All I can say is buy this PPV. If you want to see the return of stacked PPV cards, help show the UFC the number of buys they are looking for. If the PPV number remains lower than expected, (I think they want to hit at least 400k for 178) these stacked PPV cards will not continue. I'll buy it, and any other PPV card that has 4 or 5 top fights I actually want to see, not the crap that has been around lately. There have been a few good ones, but the majority are not worth the money but the fans can change that with their pocketbooks. I want to see 2 title fight PPV cards, with at least one top contender fight & a out of the gate FON matchup. I think it can happen if 178 does 500k or more. I think they have proven they don't need title fights on Fox or FS1, top contender & big names draw just fine. I really hope that trend takes off, I'd be willing to buy 8-10 PPV's a year if that was the model going forward. I could care less about a PPV preliminary fights, unless I plan on attending live, just stack the card I have to pay for & I'll buy it.
  24. Silva v Diaz? Superbowl weekend in Vegas? Giddy the **** up I'm there! What awesome news to wake up to after a night in the hospital with a bummed ankle. Funny thing is all the happy dance .gif's posted in the comment sections of MMA sites, MMAfighting.com crashed my browser. Dana said Diaz could get a title fight with a win, I hope he means 170 not 185. Him fighting Weidman would look like the before & after photos in muscle mag ads for weight gainer or P90X. And dont be modest Dr. This fight got put together from Internet buzz, and the first place I heard the idea of that was here from the good Dr. Do Itch Big. You might not have made this fight, but you planted the seed. even if you didn't, just take the credit for it.
  25. My way really isn't cutting the cord, just sticking it to the monopoly TV carrier companies. This might not work in your area, but check to see how many recievers you can have on 1 satellite TV bill. Max that out as long as the upcharge is not something stupid like $50 an extra box. Then order the full package, everything they got and split those receivers among friends & family. You pay 1 huge satellite TV bill, but it's split amongst 4-6 people. The package I get would run me $150 with tax a month, $1,800 a year, but split with 4 other guys I work with, in down to $30 a month or $360 a year. Helps if everyone already has a dish, or save more with a new subscriber getting free installation and a discounted introductory rate. Thing us, you really need to trust the people you split with. Only other downside is we can't plug in a phone line to download a PPV, then the provider will know where the box is, but I can still call the 1-800 on screen and order that way. The provider around hear used to lock the boxes to 1 dish, but people around here started complaining having to pay 2 bills for home & cottage, so they unlocked them
