  1. We're going to get at least a week off before the second round starts.

That's crazy to me. I was looking at everyone's schedules after the game yesterday and it may be around May 5 before we play again. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. The rest is always good, but with the way we were playing, I hate to have that long of a break.

  2. Police are looking for ole Jonny Bones Jones. Possibly involved in a hit-and-run accident where a pregnant woman was hurt.

    http://news.yahoo.com/albuquerque-police-seek-martial-arts-champ-over-hit-040012572--spt.html

It wouldn't be surprising if he fled the scene because he was drunk/coked up, and had coke in his possession.

It definitely does not look good. He was upgraded from "wanted for questioning" to being an official suspect.

Given his recent history with DUI and cocaine, the fact that he has disappeared is a pretty curious sign.

As reported earlier today, UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones is wanted for questioning in a hit-and-run case.

Jones has now been upgraded to a suspect in the case.

Sources informed MMAjunkie that the victim in the incident is pregnant, though her name and the stage of pregnancy have not been released. Police officers went to Jones’ house and attempted to contact his lawyer but have yet to hear from the fighter.

The crime is currently classified as a misdemeanor, but one witness places Jones at the scene. Police are still currently looking to get Jones’ side of the story, and no arrest warrant is currently planned to be issued. A summons will be issued, however, and Jones will have four weeks to show in court. Should he fail to appear in court, a warrant will be issued for his arrest.

Who knows what is going to happen; there were a lot of rumors flying around yesterday about the fight with Johnson being off.

  3. Conor McGregor's act is getting old.  I used to like how he was brash and backed up his smack talk, but all this stuff with Aldo is over the top.  I'm usually a fan of the underdog, but now I think I'll start pulling for Aldo.

I think it has gone a little over the top too, but I like how Aldo has started giving it back to him. I think this has been great for Aldo, giving him more of a personality. This fight tour has also built a lot more hype for the fight. I don't know who I am pulling for yet, because I like them both. I think I will lean toward Aldo, but I think I will just sit back and enjoy this one, because I doubt it will be boring.

  4. Maybe he's the Irony Sheik?

    *doh*

    That just hurt my brain.

HHH may not be a McMahon level ego maniac but he's definitely an ego maniac. He definitely wants to be viewed the way they portray and he believes he should be.

To be fair, to be that level of professional wrestler, I think you have to be an egomaniac to some extent. I don't know if there are a lot of humble wrestling hall of famers that will come out of the era we are talking about.

  5. I love Shaka, he is an  amazing college coach, but he is not an NBA coach. He system is very specific. Havoc is not coming to the NBA and it would be a disaster.

Yep, that's what I was going to say too. He is a damn good college coach, but I don't think he would be a great fit in the pros. Maybe is happens at some point if he wants a new challenge, but I don't know how well it would go.

  6. However, he was not living at the Residence Inn...not true. He was living at a Luxury apartment in South Park called "The Residence at South Park".  I go there ( that area, Cowfish, Dean and Deluca, etc..) often and as I stated saw him many times. I know a few people that live there...it is certainly not a hotel or Residence Inn.  The small 1 BR places start at about 2k per month.

I am pretty sure it was the Residence Inn. At least that is where Reid was found, and it was reported that they were staying at the same place at the time. I work in SouthPark and used to see Ric fairly frequently at the restaurants in Piedmont Row. Really outgoing, gregarious...just a nice guy. Now, I know Ric used to live in a condo near the mall at some point, so he could have lived in both places. I think he may have moved out of the condo after an altercation with his wife. Who knows, he has lived in a few different places in the area since I have been working there.

Reid Flair, born Richard Reid Fliehr II, was a budding star in Japan with All Japan Pro Wrestling. He had returned to the United States last week after a three-month stay overseas. Friday morning, Ric Flair found his son unconscious in his Residence Inn hotel room.

Reid Fleihr, who, like his father, used the last name "Flair" professionally, was found dead by police Friday in a room at the Residence Inn by Marriott on Piedmont Row Drive South in Southpark. He was 25 years old.

  7. Come to think of I have not seen him in about two years at the places I go.

Reading the rest of the article means that I haven't seen him in about 3+ years. I remember that white custom Camaro.

Yeah, I used to see him all the time. At least once a month. I live in Charlotte and spend a lot of time in the SouthPark area. But like you say, it has probably been a few years. The last time I saw him, he was walking out of a coffee shop, I shook his hand and he hopped in that white Camaro. He definitely has not been as visible as he was in the past.

  8.  Assuming that no one really gives a damn about the 60s and 70s except Jim Cornette, I feel like we've sucked the 80s and 90s dry at this point.

I was thinking about that a few days ago. They are going to run out of people to put into the Hall of Fame. There are plenty of people that deserve to go in at this point, but after putting a handful of people in each year and removing the people that Vince has a beef with, the pool is going to be pretty shallow shortly.

And speaking of depressing, did anyone happen to catch the 30 for 30 short on the Von Erichs? ESPN aired it last Friday; I was going to post it here, but it looks like it has been removed. The only thing i can find is this clip: http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=12393210

  9. For some reason, reading this was like a punch in the gut to me...

Longtime site coordinator Burt Watson confirms exit from UFC

One of the UFC’s most recognizable names (and bellowing voices) has confirmed his exit from the promotion.

Longtime site coordinator Burt Watson, whose iconic “We rollllllin’!” yell would echo backstage on event nights and during weigh-in festivities, today confirmed he’s left the promotion after a 14-year run (via Twitter).

Watson, who had won the respect and admiration of many UFC fighters, didn’t give a reason for his departure.

However, his exit had been rumored for the past few days following an alleged incident this past weekend at UFC 184. An initial report came from Twitter user @FrontRowBrian. Then, on Monday’s edition of MMAjunkie Radio, John Morgan, MMAjunkie’s lead staff reporter and an on-site reporter at UFC 184 in Los Angeles, confirmed a backstage confrontation between Watson and a fellow UFC employee over a fighter’s weight cut. However, at the time, it wasn’t clear if Watson’s exit was official.

  10. As much as I hate the hype around McGregor, he's a counter puncher like Anderson, not as good as Andy but he gets guys to fire away so he can counter by throwing those crazy spinning kicks. Conor lands ready to strike, making the other guy think he is countering when Conir is actually setting up his own counter.

That's a good point. I mean, this fight was essentially set up as someone that would come at Anderson with volume, generally not dangerous, punches. Except Diaz didn't. But Anderson doesn't force his opponent into that unless they get frustrated.
