  1. I'm not saying I'm rooting for him to get hurt, but if Andray Blatche blows out his knee I certainly won't lose any sleep over it.

what a bama thing to say.

Blatche is a dick, but there is truth to what he said about the organization.

And lets also be real that a lot of fans, including myself, gave him some abuse on twitter too. So now we have to be adults and accept that he can speak back too.

interesting question posed on another board I post on:

Would any of us be upset if the Wizards moved to Seattle or Louisville or some other market and the NBA promised us a team back within 3 years? We can keep the NBA title and history, but the name would be in another city?

Would that upset anyone? I honestly cant say it would upset me, and if those cities wanted this franchise, I would drive he moving truck. Starting over would be so good.

TNT's Inside the NBA just spent nearly 4 minutes comparing the Wizards to the Harlem Globetrotter opponent Washington Generals.

The Redskins might win more games than the Wizards this year.

  3. For anyone who missed Guerrero vs Berto last night, you missed a very hard inside fight for 12 rounds. Guerrero fought a bit dirty but overall very good entertaining fight and I'd love to see a rematch.

    Great fight!

was the most brutal fight ive seen in a while.

    Berto's eyes were both closed.

Guerrero was fighting dirty as hell and the ref allowed it yet penalized Berto when he tried to retaliate. Guerrero deserved to win that fight, but that was unfair.

  4. I hate how Beal is playing, but I'd still pick him 10 times out of 10. The only other player you could make an argument for would be Barnes (without the benefit of hindsight), and while he's playing well, I wouldn't change my mind just yet.

That said, it is alarming the lack of skill Beal has offensively. If his shot isn't falling he doesn't have the handles nor quickness to get by his defender and when he does get to the basket, he doesn't finish. Moral of the story, he needs to start hitting shots.

how can you say this when Dion Waiters is playing better than both? *hindsight obvs*

in fact the surprise with Waiters is that he a really good shooter, but struggles a bit finishing around the basket.

    Drummond playing well too

its still early days, but some of these other rookies are playing better.

  5. I'll give Beal credit when he plays like he did against the bucks. I'll refuse to look for silver linings when he looks passive as he has tonight. If it makes you feel better you can point out he's 19 or some other excuse if you like.

He's looked like crap at the end of the game. How many big shots has he missed? Was he the guy that missed the three and then got stripped with the ball under the basket that later was thrown off nene? Yes yes he's 19 and hey he got his own rebound! Awesome.

c'mon now. I dont rate Beal that high and really dont think he was the right pick for us, but you are going over the top here. You dont think he that good and deserved to be picked that high, we get it.

There are a lot of other bad pieces with this team, Id rather not pick on the rookie, even if I do agree that he was overhyped and will not be the impact player many fans expect.

  6. oh i agree he was a tremendous fighter... but seeing headlines including the words like tragedy. shame, etc.. he had no one to blame but himself

when anyone dies, its a tragedy unless they were a monster.

  7. I figured Di Matteo would be gone after City beats them down on Sunday. Kind of a shock he is sacked before Hughes tho, altho Hughes has effectively been sacked.

In a sense it is his fault, but in another sense its not. Its his fault because he is a limited manager, altho them beating Barca last year was some good tactics. In another way, its Roman's fault for thinking he can rebuild in one summer. They also have no strikers, so he was already behind the 8ball. Plus Roman wants Pep, so Di Matteo was always a placeholder.

I hope Benitez has respect for himself to not take this job because he would also be a placeholder until Guardiola becomes available, or even Mourinho. Truthfully, I dont know why any big time manager would take that gig outside of the money. Roman dont care and will fire you. Also, if Benitez takes that job, he better sell his house in Liverpool or else it will be ransacked and burgled... well tbf that happens when he goes out for a walk, but still those Lpudlians dont play.

  8. I can't for the life of me understand what is going on with this team, The coach is set-up to fail because the roster would struggle in the d league as it is now. The owner appears to be content with the abysmal direction they are headed and the general manager doesn't ever have to answer for his mistakes.

The whole structure looks to be a direct reflection of the owner and if that is true then honestly this team is hopeless going forward.

I don't follow the capitals so if anyone is willing to chime in and explain to me what Ted does I would greatly appreciate it, the "Stay the course" mantra is ringing hollow.

I never understood how anyone could support that trade. Somehow' date=' an incredibly valuable expiring was turned into two mediocre veterans with crippling long-term deals. I hated the Nene deal too.

The fundamental problem with Ernie is that he does not seem to realize how the NBA works now. You want roster flexibility above nearly all else. Everyone knows how much I hated the Harden deal, but at least Presti was seeking the right thing - flexibility.

Ernie seems to think that he is running an MLB club where you want each roster slot to be "solid." There is nothing wrong with having Nene, Ariza, and Okafor on your roster in theory. All are good guys. All are legit NBA players. In a capless world, they would be decent pieces. But it's not a capless world, and all they do is take away your ability to do anything at all.[/quote']

a lot of people on here are just homers who want to believe in something. I get it.

The Nene trade, even though he was injury prone and had a bad contract, I was ok with because dude is a good big man with positive experience. I was ok with that trade even though I never thought it would make us into a playoff contender like some were saying.

The Okafor/Ariza deal for Lewis' expiring should have gotten Ernie fired. I could not understand how anyone could think trading for 2 guys who were on a team as bad as ours would somehow make us contenders for a playoff spot.

I understood people wanting to be positive, but that trade was such a disaster just on paper.

  9. Its tough to go 0-8 and 0-9 to start the season two years in a row. I see no upside to Ariza playing at all. Okafor could possibly be serviceable. I read this on another board' date=' but i think it hits close to the mark:

At one point in the offseason, New Orleans needed to amnesty either Okafor, or Ariza in order to rebuild. It was guaranteed that one of those guys would have been off the books and cheap at some point later on. Yet, not only do we trade a guy whose contract was 1 year less, and worth both of them combined ( whom NO gladly amnestied), we also gave them a draft pick. And even worse... neither of them even serve a purpose on this team that (obviously) needed offensive help. Im sorry, no one can screw up this badly on accident. This is on both EG and Ted. Ted has proven to be cheap and willing to throw garbage out there, and EG has proven for years that he has no idea what he is doing. The franchise is doomed.[/quote']

what can be said after this, so sad

  10. OMG YES IT IS!

Mayo is 25, I don't think he's got much upside left. Is he going to see drastic growth in his game moving forward? Doubt it.

Mayo can't defend. And I don't think that's any more subjective than making any other judgement about a player. Mayo himself said the reason they demoted him was defense. It's not better in Dallas either, the DMN published an article about Mayo talking about how Carlisle ripped him for his defense. I think Mayo wants to be a good defender and he's a smart, athletic player. He's just not a good defender.

Also Mayo is not a guy who creates for others well nor is he a particularly good rebounder. Certainly not as good a rebounder as Beal is. Mayo has a career A/TO ratio of 1.3 (2.7/2.1), not good, and he's only averaged 3.3 rebounds per game.

Mayo is a gifted scorer, good shooter and good slasher. That's what he is. He can score at an All Star level when he's the featured guy like he has been these first 11 games in Dallas. But he brings nothing else to the table and he's a bit of a gunner. He has not been an efficient player throughout his career. That 60% 3 pt % is going to come down. He's a career .380 3 pt shooter, not bad, but not great. And his .490 FG% is coming down too, he's a career .435 shooter, again not bad, but not very good. Especially considering how good a slasher he is. Career 14.3 PER, which doesn't even really punish him for his defensive weakness.

You really think Gay is the reason Memphis let him walk? They don't even play the same position. They let Mayo walk because they were a better team the less they used him. Tony Allen brought more to the table and they started winning after they demoted Mayo. Mayo is a really smart, humble, hardworking guy by all accounts. Doesn't seem like a bad teammate at all. Has a ton of talent and athleticism. But he's too one dimensional to be the best player for most teams if they want to win.

Granted it only 10 games, but Mayo is looking like an All Star right now.

And yes, Gay is why they fell out with Mayo. Mayo and Gay both need the ball in the same spots on the court. Even though they play different positions, they are very similar players. Its like an inferior version of Bron and Wade for a few years, with the big difference being that Gay and Mayo were never friends

In fact, I feel things fell out of favor for Mayo after Tony Allen beat his ass over a tonk game.

And Mayo can defend, he isnt a great defender but he can defend. Beal hasnt shown me he can granted we are only 10 games into the season.

And Mayo can create offense for himself, which Beal just cant do.

Ive said it consistently, but this Brad Beal hype I never got. He did nothing to separate himself from others last year, but some how had this bandwagon with him over the last 18 months.
