  1. Well if it wasn't true, if I'm Floyd, I'm calling ESPN and refuting everything he said. He didn't do that.

we have two separate quotes :ols:

    Why do you need Floyd to say it when the damn evidence is in front of YOU??!! YOU!!! The words are right here for YOU to read, and you just dismissed it. :ols;

Floyd dont matter, this is about YOUR reading.

  2. Because Pacquiao said it on National TV. I saw the interview. And nobody from Floyd to Golden Boy came out and refuted anything he said.

so there are quotes from Manny saying one thing, and then he says something else in the media.

People, this IS what im talking about. :ols:

Manny can say whatever he wants and everyone allows it. Floyd says one thing, and its different. :ols:

  3. Pacquiao explained the "phone call" on ESPN's First Take and Pac offered a 55/45 deal and May said he can't do that.

why do you keep repeating this?

    http://ringtv.craveonline.com/blog/171171-mayweather-and-pacquiao-have-a-telephone-conversation

According to a translation by BoxingScene.com's Ryan Maquinana, who is of Filipino descent, Pacquiao told the Filipino TV network ABS-CBN that his conversation with Mayweather "went OK, the talk about the negotiation proceeds forward."

"I said that the 50-50 was approved and there’s no problem," said Pacquiao. "Anytime. It’s in your hands. We’ll just wait if it’s OK with you."

  4. This is how you expose someone for their hypocrisy. Take notes people.

You Mayweather fanboys crack me up. Pac uses Mayweather's name to sell fights? Please. Just this past week, Floyd makes the FIRST announcement about his next fight on the week leading up to the Pacquiao fight.

Manny Pacquiao has Landed in LA, Ready for Bradley

why is this a big deal? He coincidentally landed on the evening of May 5th, 2012, the same night Floyd was fighting Miguel Cotto. He released this press release to everyone and Jim Lampley even mentioned it on the HBO telecast of the Mayweather/Cotto fight.

Both camps have been petty over things like this, but Pacman has been doing it longer. Shoot, Pacman's whole status right now is based on him being "the one" that is supposed to beat Floyd Mayweather.

I mean this man was didn't say not one word concerning boxing since his release from jail.

this is untrue. He has had a few interviews since leaving jail. He and 50 Cent also went at it over twitter a few weeks ago.

    http://www.fighthype.com/news/article13218.html

    http://www.fighthype.com/news/article13219.html

You either didnt know this, or you intentionally put your head in the sand so you can say Floyd was out speaking to steal limelight.

What about last years "challenge" in the days leading up to Pacquiao/Marquez 3. It went something like this, "Meh and you PUNK, May 5 at the MGM Grand, I'm calling you out PUNK."

    another untrue statement.

this was the first time he called Manny out to fight May 5th. This video was uploaded November 29th, 2011. The Marquez/Manny fight was November 12, 2011.

Floyd did let it leak out that he was planning to fight on May 5th tho, but he never called out Manny. You know why? Because Bob Arum was spreading out lies that Floyd was planning to fight Erik Morales.

    http://www.esnewsreporting.com/bob-arum-mayweather-wants-morales-may-5th-not-pacman/

The common theme in this fight not happening is Bob Arum lies, remember that.

And who really believed Floyd was serious?

And as for his ludicrous blood testing demand? Come on. Did he demand any fighter prior to Pacquiao to take random blood test?

why is it ludicrous when Roach said he was ok with USADA 24/7 drug testing?

    http://www.aolnews.com/2009/12/17/freddie-roach-on-the-mayweathers-olympic-style-drug-testing/

FH: What are your thoughts on the random Olympic-style drug-testing proposed by the Floyd Mayweather camp for both Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao prior to the fight?

Roach: I have no problem with that whatsoever. Whatever kind of testing they want is no problem. I have trouble giving Manny Pacquiao vitamins. He won't take any protein drinks. No problem at all.

    video of it as well

again, thats from December 2009. He backed off it once Arum and Manny said no drug testing. Remember that.

Pacquiao did say he'd expect less than May. 55/45. That wasn't good enough for May. He wanted the lions share of the purse and ALL of the PPV. Yeah, Pacquiao and Top Rank was gonna agree with that.

How you just gonna dismiss the quote from Richard Koncz regarding the phone call between Mayweather and Pacquiao? I linked and quoted it earlier and you just dismissed it without a single bat of the eye :ols:

Sure, they both have their faults. Bob Arum's mysterious stadium. Floyd's demands. But don't sit there and act like Floyd is "almost" totally without blame.

its not just the mysterious stadium. He also talked about 6 month cut that Manny had.

Also, dont forget that Arum had talked about fighting May 5th once it looked like Floyd would be going to jail on May 1st, then backed off it once he got it pushed back. Arum also said he was looking to put a fight together until the mediator, Judge Daniel H. Weinstein, came out and said Arum was lying.

    ---------- Post added December-13th-2012 at 12:06 PM ----------

You know what thats fine, I agree this fight has been a joke and both sides are equally responsible. I just hate when people sit there and ignore all the excuses Pacquaio had its a joke really its like this guy can do no wrong.

this is the feeling I have too. The time I get upset at Floyd was after the Mosley fight. A fight could have been made later in 2010. HBO had got involved, Schaeffer and Arum had meetings, and Floyd said nah he was "retired."

But honestly, most of the excuses have come from Arum. The problem is Arum knows how to handle the media better than Mayweather's team.

  5. You're pulling a Stephen A by speaking with a fork tongue. You say you're not absolving Floyd of all blame but it seems like you're still putting the lion share of it on Top Rank/Arum. But I don't quite understand what Floyd having an advantage and would be favored have to with anything.

Manny said on National TV that he would accept a 55/45 split. Mayweather refused by saying to Manny, "You have things going for you when you're done boxing, what do I have?"

    I don't know about you, but 55% of a potential $150-$200m gate is a lot of $$$.

thats because I am. There is no double speak here, I believe Arum is the primary culprit here. If Manny was on his own or repped by Lou Dibella, or anyone else (cept Frank Warren), this fight would have already happened.

Also, Manny said he would accept a 55/45 split... then said no 50/50.

    http://sports.yahoo.com/news/manny-pacquiao-floyd-mayweather-boxings-two-headed-beast-044800534--box.html

First, Mayweather's call for random blood testing led to Pacquiao walking away, with the 8-division champ only allegedly agreeing to terms after the issue had died and talks had long been ended. Then, Mayweather personally called Pacquiao to offer him a flat $40 million for a bout. But, despite having said weeks prior to the offer that he would settle for the lesser share of the purse in order to fight Mayweather, Pacquiao suddenly insisted on a 50-50 money split. Then, once again, after talks had died, Team Pacquiao revisited the idea of taking the lesser share of the money.

And that article is critical of both fighters, which I am as well.

Koncz also said only 50-50 after floyd called Manny to speak to him (of course Floyd doesnt want to fight, despite calling him :ols: )

"I said that the 50-50 was approved and there’s no problem," said Pacquiao. "Anytime. It’s in your hands. We’ll just wait if it’s OK with you."

    http://ringtv.craveonline.com/blog/171171-mayweather-and-pacquiao-have-a-telephone-conversation

Manny only said he wanted a 55/45 split because he was trying to sell this Marquez fight. Dont think any other way but that. He has been doing that for years.

  6. All they call this is a "stress injury" which means, according to the initial reports, that it's an injury that could lead to a fractured patella from training too much. It's not even a fracture at this point. The fact that this has happened already, at age 22, and it's not healing so he can't jump let alone practice at all. This screams reoccurring injury to me.

idk, I wouldnt be too concerned over it messing with his athleticism.

  7. In a day and he where athletes heal faster and from serious injuries.... Wall is behind schedule from something that was described as not terribly serious. That's alarming

its a broken bone. Idk what the deal is, but its a broken bone. Not any ligament, tendon, or joint damage. Once it heals, he will still have the same explosion.

IMO, I think the Wizards staff misdiagnosed the injury.

Yeah Johnson isn't that good any more. Brook Lopez is also a very flawed player to be getting the contract he got. I think going for a PG-SG construction is a flawed approach though. You need a really good front court player. They locked up all their flexibility in their starting guards.

Players 4-8 on that team are actually pretty good though all things considered. They should be better than they have been so far.

im not defending Johnson, but thats a big reason for their troubles. And Harden is a much better player than Johnson and his contract is nowhere near as bad. Its just not an apt comparison.

Based on the fact we'll probably still be wondering about him going into his fourth season. That shouldn't be the case for a true franchise PG. He's gotten big minutes since day one.

Wall's winning percentage his two years was .291

    By contrast, Rose's was .500, CP3's was .470, and DWill's was .561.

    Winning matters IMO.

You can make excuses for Wall based on a lockout year, injuries, organizational support, etc. They are all good reasons contributing to a player failing.

The fact of the matter is Wall has failed thus far. He's not getting it done. If he was a franchise player, the franchise would be heading in the right direction and showing some sort of progress. We've actually gotten worse each year since we drafted him. If he was going to be a franchise PG like these other PGs, we should have seen some significant uptick in our wins just from adding him alone.

This is hilarious. 3 weeks ago you were saying Wall will make the jump this season and be that player and you believed it. IN those 3 weeks Wall hasnt played a game due to the injury, and you have written him off. This is ridiculous. :ols:

  8. I don't think he will be a superstar because I don't trust guys in the NBA coming back from serious knee injuries. Particularly when your biggest asset is your athleticism.

he has a stress fracture, no? Its one thing if he has ligament damage, but Wall basically has a broken bone.

If it were something else I would be concerned, but not a stress fracture.

  9. Best back court in the NBA doesn't mean that'd make a big impact. What other good back courts are there?

    are you serious?

this is a guard's league. If you have a good back court you will win more than not. 2 guys that can create for themselves and others and get to the free throw line? That is a 50 win team for the first time since 78 for this franchise.

They wouldn't even be close to the best tandem of stars in the NBA. Harden is a second line All Star, Wall isn't close to that level.

Harden is never going to be a franchise player with his level of athleticism. Nene is what he is and he's not an All Star big man. So the only X factor is Wall. The only way we could get over the hump and be an actual contender with that construction is if Wall made a mega leap and became a Superstar franchise player. I no longer think that's going to happen with Wall.

And make no mistake, we would absolutely have to sign Wall to a big deal and hit luxury tax on those three players because we would no longer have the flexibility or draft picks to get anyone better than him. That would be our construction we'd take our shot with.

I think all trading for Harden would have accomplished is we'd look better in a bunch of losses and get to juts under .500 while Nene and Wall spend a lot of time watching him play from the sidelines. Maybe in the rare healthy season we'd get close to 50 wins and maybe a mid to late seed and eke out a fun first or second round loss.

I believe that would be perfectly fine for a lot of our fans.

so you dont think Wall is going to be a franchise player?

  10. He's not as bad as Ernie.

He did get caught with his pants down on Asik and Lin. Lin was a decision that was made for non-basketball reasons. He got caught with his pants down on Asik because he didn't expect to actually sign both Asik and Lin. After he made the offer to Lin, he wanted to back out of the offer to Asik. He could have, but it would have destroyed his reputation with agents and his bargaining power in future negotiations so it was better to take his medicine there.

But honestly, Asik has been the much better player than Lin and that deal is going to look better than Lin's just based on basketball reasons.

But the whole reason Morrey had to take those gambles on young RFA talent is because his team got stuck in basketball purgatory. They couldn't improve through the draft, weren't a FA draw, had put all of their eggs in a pie in the sky Dwight trade, and had to take wild swings in FA and hope they were signing top notch talent waiting for an opportunity to emerge. Now Houston is capped out at mediocre and going nowhere for at least the next two years.

But honestly, taking a shot on a player like Asik isn't the worst thing in the world. Not as bad as some of the doozies EG has pulled. These late blooming foreign players like him and Marcin Gortat and Goran Dragic are actually pretty good.

They gave up Dragic and Lowry for Lin. End of story.

And it isnt even this summer's bad signings, he has years of clear mess ups. The media loves him tho because he is open and he tries to build teams through advanced stats. He is a bottom rung GM to me. Not near Ernie, but still bottom rung.

He is the reason they are in basketball purgatory also. Shoulda blown the team up after Yao got Javale'd.

    and this, lol

  11. At least Morrey can find talent via trade and the draft.

I said he is better than Ernie. Thats not up for consideration. :ols:

Morrey is a really bad GM tho.

    ---------- Post added December-12th-2012 at 10:23 PM ----------

can't you just admit you were a little wrong about him?

He is nearly averaging 25- 5.5- 4.5? So what is a franchise player

Wall and Harden would have been deadly. I don't even comprehend how you can see what is going on in front of you, even this very game, and say the Wiz were better off not making that trade for Harden.

Wall and Harden could have been the best back court in the NBA.

Houston's big problem is the lack of a second scorer and a point guard who shouldnt be starting for them but has a big FA contract so he has to start.

  12. Show some proof on that. I just call Floyd on his BS unlike some people. Oh, you mean the reasonable argument that Floyd is trying to clean up boxing? Or the reasonable argument that Floyd played a very big part in Pacquiao/Mayweather not taking place. I admit, Top Rank played a part in it, I have yet to see YOU claim Floyd has any fault.

I believe it's YOU who ignore facts to push your pro Mayweather agenda.

I'm not absolving Floyd at all but this fight isn't happening because of Arum/Floyd relationship. Not because of Pacquaio because Floyd has damn near every advantage against dude. If a fight were to ever happen, Floyd would be the Vegas favorite.
  13. this headline is tinged with some very subtle racism too.

If this were a black boxer, the word "aides" would be replaced with posse or crew or entourage, all of which have negative connotations when it comes to black athletes.

    ---------- Post added December-12th-2012 at 11:44 AM ----------

I don't hate Floyd, but he has given everybody a good reason to dislike him.

dude, you hate him. You ignore every reasonable argument and fact just to push along your agenda. You have done that throughout. No one is fooled.

OK, but I disagree. I honestly don't believe Floyd wants to risk losing his 0.

he risks losing his "0" each time he steps into the ring. That makes no sense.

Speaking of Floyd, I hear that Roger's in very bad shape and that his dad might become his trainer.

Floyd said that, but im a little skeptical. Roger was talking about fighting Bradley this weekend, and he went to the Pac/Marquez fight on Saturday.

  14. He gave Jose Luis Castillo an immediate rematch after they fought, that was by far the closest fight of Floyd's career. I scored the first fight a draw if I recall.

    exactly.

You have to realize that dude just hates Floyd. There is nothing else to him except that.

  15. Yes.

And you can absolutely learn to improve your ball handling at any point in life. Saying you can't is letting the organization and our players off the hook. Advanced dribbles and off hand speed and comfort can always be learned and improved. Many NBA players do it. It takes hours of work, just like improving shooting. Our players just aren't doing it and I doubt the organization has told them they need to or offered to help them.

im not letting anyone off the hook, im telling its hard as hell to improve your handles as you age. You rarely, if ever, see an NBA player come into the league with no handles and then improve to competent. It doesnt happen. Players improve what they are good at because what they are good at is what got them in the league. Improving your handles takes a lot of time and effort that its not even worth it. Again, these arent kids. These are grown ass men. It doesnt happen.

The only thing you see an improvement on is shooting, and even then that is hard as well to get better.

    ---------- Post added December-12th-2012 at 11:17 AM ----------

A trio of Wall/Harden/Nene is not that good. It's a mid to late seed in the East at best and would never be a contender. We'd tie up all our money in them after extending Wall and have no avenues of improvement. Harden is an All Star, but he would be a fringe All Star at best if SG wasn't so terrible league-wide. Neither Wall nor Nene are All Stars. I'm a fan of both of them, but that construction isn't good enough to get it done without Wall making a mega leap.

that would F'ing suck, tbf. A mid to late seed in the east (and we wouldnt, we would def be a higher seed than that). Its so much worse than being the worst team in the NBA year after year.

  16. I only see it happening if Bob Arum departs from the earth in the next couple of years.

it could happen real soon, tbf. Arum is about to cash-out on Manny.

Especially if Rios beats Manny in April.

    ---------- Post added December-12th-2012 at 02:28 AM ----------

But they're not the same kind of counter puncher. What's so hard to understand about that? Marquez is way more offensive than Mayweather. Also, if slow Cotto can put his hands on him, why couldn't the much faster Pacquiao?

this makes it even more hard for Manny :ols:

Floyd isnt that offensive of a fighter, well since he moved up, because his defense is impregnable. Marquez's defense isnt even close to that, so he has to attack more. Floyd can control fights by pot shoting from the pocket.

And Cotto and Manny are not similar fighters at all. Cotto has a good jab, Manny doesnt. Cotto is also a bigger fighter than Floyd. Despite all that, Cotto only landed like 20 percent of his punches that fight.

  17. yeah, I think im just going to tune this team out until Wall comes back. Even if they win, I really dont care. And when Wall comes back, if he dont play well I will start thinking about the 2014 NBA draft.

Harden and Wall could have been a great back court. That actually looks like a team that could make the playoffs. And Harden is only 23, 24? Yeah, thanks Ern-dawg. And thank you Ted for showing that you are a cheapskate like Abe was.

To purgatory we go, To purgatory we go, hi-hio the derry-o to purgatory we go.

    ---------- Post added December-12th-2012 at 01:24 AM ----------

If Singleton could handle the ball, he would be such a good player. A legitimately good offensive player to go along with his defense and rebounding.

Why haven't we made it a point to get him, Booker, Seraphin, and Vesely some handles? Seraphin needs to be able to acquit himself against doubles to take the next step and Ves and Booker are fast enough to get to the rim if they could dribble but both have legitimately terrible handles.

you realize these guys are all in their 20s. You can learn to shoot better, but your handles are your handles at this point.

You learn the game, and gain confidence in your dribbling, when you are playing in middle school and HS. U ever play ball before?

    ---------- Post added December-12th-2012 at 01:26 AM ----------

Harden is 24 and would be someone to help Wall stay. John Wall isn't staying in DC after his rookie deal. This team is the new bobcats

no, Wall is staying. The way the NBA system is rigged, he has no choice but to stay.

But I guarantee you there will be an early out clause.

  18. I think he was on something to but I went back and looked at some pictures of both Pacquiao and JMM they both have gained alot of muscle in the last couple of years. So I guess Pacquiao complaining about PEDS would be like the pot calling the kettle black. A big percentage of the guys in professional sports are cheaters anyway.

dawg, do not engage DM72 on this. Seriously :ols:

    ---------- Post added December-10th-2012 at 05:42 PM ----------

DM and friends should be on suicide watch. PAC turned the other cheek and got his chin clocked by running away for drug testing. PAC should have took the 40 million he will be lucky too get half that.

Marquez got off the pissy drinks and moved on too bigger and better things power pellets.

and im happy for him :ols:
