  1. I think the playoffs really come down to the Giants games.  While the 49ers game may end up being very important as a tiebreaker, I think the back to back Giants games are more important than the Falcons.  Giants have hit above their weight and have a record that doesnt reflect their ability.  They have the same record as the Cowboys, but a +1 score differential vs 84.

Sadly, with 6 wins we would be tied for 2nd in the entire rest of the NFC, but are 4th in the NFC East.  Which means we probably need to take that spot from the Giants.

  2. At this point, with the D playing like it is, you have to be focusing on just 3 spots.  QB, Oline(really, its mostly Oline), and LB.  Get a good LB, draft some good DLine, and then get the best QB available.

Or do what some people suggest, and "develop" Howell next season to set up the team to get a top 3 Draft pick in 2024 and a top QB.

  3. Dline being the beast we expected them to be, and JDR back to his D performing like it mostly has during his career.  I think the biggest surprise has been 3 unheralded secondary players in Curl, Forrest, and St Juste playing well above their draft spots and complimenting that DLine well.

Dang if the game vs Hou was not more of the same from our QB.

    An insane 40 to 27 run/pass distribution

TH completes 55% of his passes, but his role is so small he can barely negatively impact the game.

No down the field plays. Nothing even 20 yards this week.

The only real positive I can say is he only had like 2 turnover worthy plays this week, despite his minuscule Tim-Tebow'd role, which is better than his average.

This is week-in and week-out. If NFL coaches were not terrified of messing w/ the sauce when your winning games, and rightfully so, dude would be put thru the bench for play this poor.

Scott Turner finding a way to have any Offense despite TH at QB is the strongest bullet point on his resume.

Terry disagrees.  But you probably know more...

  5. As many of us said it was stupid for the FO to not be extending Payne and then let Settle and Ioannidis go.  That said, if you cut Wentz and draft a QB you have plenty of cap space to resign Payne(or at the least tag him for a year) and have plenty left over.

  6. I mean, huge opportunity here.  To go above .500, to win 5 of 6 and almost would won 6 straight would be a confidence boost that elevates talent.  If this team is going to make the playoffs it has to win this game.  Personally I think its a blowout, dominant win from front to back.  Texans offense is bad so the D should feast, and their Run D is absolutely atrocious.  If anyone missed it, we just ran the ball all day vs Philly, so they should hand it off another 50 times.

    interesting theory

Thats really interesting and I think highly plausible.  We know they arent competent, and its too perfect to be just a coincidence, right?  What are the odds that with all the missiles being fired, the very first one to land outside of Ukraine happens to hit those coordinates?

I think Poland and NATO will definitely take it as justification to provide more air defenses, and call up NATO troops etc and station them on the borders.  If true its a screw up that lets NATA turn the screws a bit.

The team just plays better with Taylor than Carson. Since Taylor has the lucky hot hand; you ride with him until the luck runs out.

He can get a one year extension.

The long term qb isn’t on the roster and will be decided by the new owner and his Gm/coach.

Taylor is nothing more than a stopgap guy. Ron is a short term coach.

When the new people are hired, likely 2024, there will be a complete roster overhaul.

I think if nothing else, this stretch has proved that until you have 2 great QBs on your roster, you have to keep TH to be a backup.  I think the only exception is if you have a young QB wondering if he has the lockerroom.  The dream in the NFL is having a backup QB who can roll in, rally the team, and win games if God-forbid your starter goes down.  Thats hard to find in the NFL, no sense getting rid of one whos proven it and has the trust of his teammates.

That snap over the head play was very Romo-esque…in a good way.

Plays like that, and a couple of other throw-aways just appear as an incomplete pass.  If he hadnt of gotten it no would would have blamed him.  But that play is in reality the same as a 20 yard completion, and its that stuff that TH does well and has propelled this winning streak.  Its also the exact stuff that none of the haters on here give him any credit for while bashing him for not being Mahomes.

He continuously makes plays that keep his team in it and gives his teammates a chance, and thats why they love him.

Russia back to using their last missiles on civilians, because they dont have enough to stop the Ukranian military, and are hoping killing some children and elderly will demoralize the Ukraine military and government somehow.

They really dont have a plan b.

    and how about Da Jooce?

Dude has the build of Bree and Richard Sherman... long and bigness.  a lot of scrapping, some getting called, but getting away with stuff most of the time.  is he starting to become a lockdown corner?  Javonte didnt eat too much tonight, right?

Absolutely, I think if he was wearing a different jersey he'd have avoided several of the "penalties" hes gotten in recent weeks.  Hes been prototypical, and once refs see that enough maybe they start giving him the leeway some of the other corners seem to get.

If they decide to stick with Heinicke, the question becomes how long is his leash?  The way he is playing, it feels like every game is as close to being a loss as it is a win and vice versa.  The Vikings & Eagles games are both microcosms of what you get with Heinicke. I think through 10 weeks it is fair to see that regardless of the QB under center this season, the sheer amount of playmaking skill position players on this team are too plentiful to only be scoring the amount of points they are every week.  So taking that into account, it doesn't seem like Heinicke is doing much to progress the offense, in contrast, it seems more that Scott Turner realizes that behind this O-line, the run game is needed and heavily, to anchor the offense (along with the defense and no mistakes on special teams) and even if Wentz returns next week or the following week (or at any point) I don't see any reason to deviate much off the run-heavy time of possession offense, but Wentz would also add some other elements there to be used when appropriate.

Hes won 4 out of 5.  His leash should be really freakin' long at this point, based on the QB play for this team for the past decade.  Every win people have to moan about not having Mahomes.  Every win is another reason to criticize.  Every time TH doesnt fit the narrative for how godlike people think this offense is supposed to be under the amazing hands of Scott Turner its back to the last QB who was terrible.  To making up and imagining a QB the players dont like, dont want, dont respect, replacing the QB they love right now.  Amazing to have every bit of over-achieving turned into imaginary-failure no matter how many great moments you give a "fanbase".

"People's opinions outside of this lockerroom is probably one of the most irrelevant things I've heard in my entire life. I genuinely, from the bottom of my soul, do not care what you have to say if you're not on this team."

    -Jonathan Allen

Some post-game comments from players that I liked a lot. Rivera as a leader is underrated. He has weaknesses obviously, but he is top tier when it comes to having the respect and ears of his team. They are starting to play like his personality.

I would absolutely hope every player in that lockerroom thats worth anything should respect someone like Rivera, and have his back at all times.  Wouldnt want them on the team otherwise.  That said Rivera is a very poor head coach.  But a coach who isnt good at the rest of it(managing men is important, I agree), can have a lot of success if they can only appoint the right football people and just stick to man management, which he has been unable to do with the likes of Scott Turner still in the building.  Ultimately Rivera isnt good enough to make decisions, and his success will be determined by who he chooses to surround himself with, and if that person is way better than Scott Turner at the X's and O's.  Respect buys you a lot until you have 75% loosing seasons.

Jack Del Rio has gone from scapegoat through the first two weeks to probably getting head coach offers this off season LMAO

Pretty much, over the last 7 games has gone from "clown" to looking like the JDR of old, and even without his biggest(highest draft pick) asset in Chase Young.  Secondary still has gaps but they now feel like they can be relied upon each game.

I agree, which is why I wanted them to get a real QB and throw the ball 40 times a game in the off-season.

But that's not what we have.  So, shrug, we'll have to play 1950's football and hope it works.

At least @TradeTheBeal! will be happy with all the running.  And that's something, right?

So at what point does winning of the 4 of 5 last games go from "hope it works" to "doing"?

You are so miserable anytime the team wins with the guys you dont prefer.
