  1. A lot of reclamation projects there if you ask me. But Daboll is familiar with Mac Jones so he could wind up in New York. Don't see them parting ways with Daniel Jones yet. Maybe a competition? But if they pick up a QB in the draft, I do not think Mac Jones would be invited in. Bue he could wind up in San Francisco with the QB whisperer, Shanahan. Maybe even Minnesota. He needs an offensive minded coach and a QB coach. Zach Wilson could stay with the Jets as they revert back to their original plan before Rodgers went out 4 plays into the season but I HIGHLY doubt it. I think they will just release him. I can't see him catching on with any team really. He does not have a lot of "wow" plays on his resume and seems to struggle with the easy stuff. But can he be reformed if he placed with an offensive minded HC. Maybe Minnesota? Or backup to Matthew Stafford with McVay? Now K Pickett...I don't think he goes anywhere. Now someone Pittsburg, could bring in, and let's face it, Tomlin likes reclamation projects, from time to time, is R. Wilson. It is a possible. I do not have a destination for Jimmy G. He has had a lot of opportunities. He is now entered the backup stage of his career IMO.
  2. I agree I think Ron is being told what to do to an extent. I used to really like Rivera a lot, but always had issues with him as a HC. And him playing his hand at GM has been detrimental to the team. I also started to realize that he may have seen JDR and Turner and, maybe even EB as extensions of himself, because he chose them. This may have been why it was difficult for him to cut ties earlier or step in and make changes or demand changes occur. And of course, we all know about the "send me my SB ring" comment. I think his ego is bigger than I initially thought. And I am frankly annoyed at the mess he is leaving the team in on his way outside the door. On another note, really like your draft pics for 2024 - Daniels, Cooper and Cade Stover especially. It is going to be finally a fun offseason.
  3. No. Brissett is a career backup, and he has made a lot of money like Fitz used to do going from team to team. It was not wrong to start Howell. He earned it in pre-season and played well in the beginning of the season. So, it was not a "roll of the dice." Yes, Sam made boneheaded mistakes, and I am not excusing that, but he was forced to throw 64% of the time behind an anemic O line and no variation in the schemes being run. There was nothing in the game planning of EB that focused on balance. EB IMO demonstrated inflexibility, and a determination to keep the same plan even when it faltered. I noticed the calls changed when Jacoby came in last week, and I thought, that was what Sam needed. There was balance between passing and the run, short to intermediate passing....a different look. BUT I do not believe that San Francisco will lose this game, mainly because of our secondary. The only thing that keeps this close is perhaps Purdy playing poorly again.
  4. Yeah, I agree with this now that I am thinking about it. I actually think they will beat the Lions and us. If not, they enter flat as hell and will be 1 and done...again. They have played out the same story for the last couple of years. And part of that is Prescott. He has a pension for screwing up in the biggest moments. This year however, I think they are going to advance along in the playoffs.
  5. The idea of Cousin's going to San Francisco is intriguing. We all know that at one point the rumors were that Shanahan was interested in Cousin's. San Fran has a lot of talent, and we know how quickly the window closes. If Purdy does not get them to the promise land, they will dump him. If Cousin stays with Minnesota, it is pretty clear he needs O line help, definitely a new RB, and an EDGE. It would not hurt them to pick up another receiver as well. But I agree they should pick up a QB in the draft. I am not sure where they are picking in the draft now but if JJ McCarthy is there, they could draft him. Who is going to want R Wilson? I think it could be the Atlanta Falcons if Cousin's does not wind up there. Anyone would be a step up from Ridder and Heinike. But Wilson is having a lot of issues. A lot of interceptions, difficulty with accuracy, and maybe dealing with an injury to his throwing shoulder. I do know that when he was with the Seahawks, they tried to open up the offense by having him play from the pocket and dropback, but it did not work as effectively as having him as a runner, and running play-action, moving from the pocket, which has him playing faster. Moving from the pocket always created open spaces for him to throw. SO, the question is, what is Wilson willing to do? He is 5'11 tops and he needs to be able to see the field. I think he does function better running play-action, but is he willing to do that? Has he lost a step or two? I don't like Jimmy G. My criticism is he is very inconsistent and overrated. Let's face it., He has had only a small amount of success in the NFL, has battled injuries, and he has thrown a lot of INTs. He might be taller, able to scan the field, but he throws a lot of INTs, which means he is not accurately deciphering what is going on. I could not see a smooth marriage between him and Payton. I still think J Fields will be with the Bears at the end of the season. He has played much better in the second half. I see a scenario where they wind up with Harrison Jr. Immediately that takes Fields up even another notch. They have a lot of pressing issues they need to address. I guess we will see.
  6. I can't imagine Minnesota starting over at the QB position if they do not have to. You have Jefferson lobbying for Cousin's return, plus the QB's they have gone through in his absence, Dobbs and Mullens, have not been good. On this board we are talking about all the unknowns of drafting a new QB. With Cousin's you do not have that. He is very good. Not great but very good. And from what I have heard in his interviews he wants to stay in Minnesota. I mean he has been there 8 years now. I think you could get 2-3 years more out of him.
  7. The first and second year for him was tough because their O line was bad, he rushed throws, and he certainly did not have the type of caliber receiver like DJ Moore, which they have now. I think he would move from better to more consistent and even better, with one more key receiver. You pick up Harrison it is an upgrade for any QB. I like him.
  8. I am not sure. Maybe he wants to avoid any competition or a choosing process between him and Fields. Some guys just want to be the heir apparent. The Bears would be real smart to pick Marvin Harrison Jr. I thought Fields was better this year and could use some help.
  9. Thanks for this information. I have only watched him in 3 games and what I saw was a great arm and accuracy. Ahhh but if he is impatient as you say, and he just takes off, rather than sliding up in or outside of the pocket, he is not going to do well in the NFL. So what you are saying in the last paragraph about improving his ability to see the field while evading behind the LOS, with good coaching this could be overcome I assume? Because right now, based upon what you wrote, about any pressure making him as hie first tendency, is simply not sustainable in this league. It also seems he has to put on some weight because he does not have a big enough frame. What you bring up about mastering the skill of using his mobility to scan the field and create time for receivers to get open is something I watched our backup Jacoby do, numerous times against the Jets, who have a decent front overall.
  10. Thanks for this info. I already like Daniels, who have watched play a couple of times. I like what Daniel's says when he is interviewed. He has overcome a lot of adversity and has done whatever he has had to do in an attempt to advance his career. A good character guy with the right amount of humility and determination. Some have the Patriots picking up Daniel's. I would love to hear more feedback on Daniel's on this board going forward. I had the Ravens going to the SB this year before the season even started. I like Jackson a lot. The one factor that has hurt Lamar IMO is his inability to stay healthy. Not just injuries on the field, but physical illnesses that tend to linger. He has stayed relatively healthy this year and is having an MVP year. And their D is only allowing something like 17 points a game max. I think they are going to be a matchup nightmare in the playoffs.
  11. Manning was a very cerebral player and boy could he decipher defenses and make adjustments at the line. But Payton Manning threw "ducks" and I remembered him saying it once. Manning said. "I do throw ducks. I've thrown a lot of yards and touchdown ducks, so I'm actually quite proud of it." That does almost make him comparable to Howell doesn't it. Inconsistency, propensity to sacks. Wow, we certainly don't need to put him behind this O-line, or anything resembling it. You know just the fact that Howell has kept in touch with him and has gone to see him play, and Howell being such a good guy, I could see it. If we do draft him, he would be a good character guy.
  12. 100%. I completely agree. Any rookie or first year player would have struggled behind this line AND the play calling of EB. I have now looked at some of Maye's tape and yeah, they are "very similar."
  13. Okay. I have looked at a lot of his available tape and in his first two years he was not really that "off schedule" seemed like a well-run, organized, disciplined team. I would agree, based upon the factors I pointed out, his 3rd year, was less than ideal. Maye looks good, but no way is his arm comparable to Howell's. I also don't know how different they are except that Maye might be gutsier and more risk-reward oriented. I would prefer that we draft Jayden Daniel's if he is available. Now he can throw, run, and looks dynamic to me. And I love his story. Very resilient guy.
  14. That is frankly disingenuous. During his college days, between 2019-2021, Howell threw for 10,800 yards and had 92 TD's - both school records. Highly doubtful he was running around in a "constant state of chaos" to achieve those stats...lol. He earned ACC rookie of the year honors in 2019. He lost 4 key players on offense after his first two years. His 2 key receivers and both RBs moved on, two into the NFL. That forced him to run a lot more and improvise more during his 3rd year, he rushed for 789 yards. Maye does not have Sam's arm, but he has his mental toughness and ability to run. Sure, the Commanders could draft him, but they sure as hell better clean the O line up and bring in a TE and a BIG body receiver. I would also say, part of the reason the offense looked different both times Jacoby replaced Howell, is because they were calling different plays for Brissett. I think EB hurt Sam Howell with his play calling. During the Jets game, for example, there were shorter, to medium range throws, followed by a number of runs, which, because of the variety opened things up make some deeper throws downfield. And I am not excusing the boneheaded plays of Howell's, but he sure as hell was not operating with a OC who played to his strengths.
  15. Frankly I am relieved they made the change at QB. Sam is fried. I also think he has been mismanaged. Simply the ratio of runs to passes was mind-boggling to me. But many have already talked about that on this board. I still maintain it is difficult to know who he could be. Maybe a sports psychologist could help him. And I am not joking about that. He has two more years left here with a whole new regime coming in. Anything can happen.
  16. At this point he needs a sports psychologist to get his head right. Who knows if he can. But one thing I did notice is that the playcalling was different for Jacoby. I mean Howell needed those short, to intermediate routes they were running with Jacoby. He needed those every game. It not only would help him and our receivers to get into a rhythm, it is also key not to ask the O-line to stand in for long developing routes, because they cannot do it. I think we even had a change on the O line when Jacoby came in. The whole thing was weird, although I am so happy we lost.
  17. Well then it will happen because Rivera is the last vestige of the Snyder suck.
  18. Only Boomer said it and no one else agreed with him. They noted the putrid O line and the lack of support around him.
  19. Imagine. We have another half of this **** fest. Washington is awful. Take Howell out. What is the point? The O line is so dysfunctional and the play calling is baffling. Why are they trying to run these long routes? They are not getting any separation. EB has shown he is incapable of adapting or adjusting.
  20. The mainstays of this D. Can't tackle. Can't get any pressure. Can't cover.
  21. Is someone sticking pins in a Ron Rivera doll somewhere? This is comical.
  22. Long developing routes when your stinking line can't hold. Come on EB with this ****.
