I’m a Maye guy (better tools, better breakout age, better frame, equal intangibles) but I could see them favoring Daniels if they want to utilize the RB in the passing game more. I know KK did that a lot and Maye has a lot of unforced errors (not pressure related) on these swing routes to the RB. Daniels has better touch and overall accuracy (except for his deep ball which can be underthrown) and a quicker release (physically, when he trusts what he sees). If we want to attack more intermediate slants, crosser, etc or go deep more Maye would be a better fit. And I understand the valid criticism that when pressured Daniels looks to run but when he isn’t pressured he quickly goes through reads and delivers an accurate throw on time when he isn’t pressured. Maye’s misses can’t be explained by pressure alone, because a lot of the errant throws come on the quick throws. If we pass on Maye for Daniels, I don’t foresee the Vikings taking Maye. I think they want Daniels or JJ. I don’t think Maye is a great fit for what they want to do, despite the familiarity with coaching staff. Maye is the anti-Cousins (good and bad). Maye is more off schedule ala Favre, Russell, Josh Allen.

This is a fair point but the other side of that is if that’s the type of DE we want and our plan is to generate pass rush from LBs than wouldn’t you want guys to fit that vision who are younger, cheaper, and better upside than Armstrong, Ferrell, and Obada? It’s drafting for 1-2 years down the line.

The obsession with footwork is weird, because it gets double counted with timing/accuracy. If a guy has great footwork that usually makes him be in time and more accurate. But if a guy is really accurate with poor footwork, that tells me he can get even better with some slight modifications. I also think the ability to be accurate with poor footwork (throwing off balance or with pressure and can’t step into it for example) is actually a positive.

Thanks for putting this together. I’m not sure if you have heard this, but a few sources said that Kingsley S. transferred back to BYU because he missed home. Being that he is only 21, there was concern that he may not be ready to be a pro and start on his own in a new city, etc. If he slips in the draft that’s likely why, and I don’t really want another Docston situation. Just food for thought.

From Mark Bullock Q and A (he said he likes all of them and could make a case for each but then said the following): “But I know you don't want the political answer so where I'm at after re-watching these guys again recently - Caleb Williams is still in a tier of his own. But next I would have Jayden Daniels, then JJ McCarthy and Drake Maye last. Going back and watching these guys again, it reminded me of just how electric Jayden Daniels was and just how often he made incredible plays, both with his arms and his legs. I've also recently seen passing maps with Kyler Murray under Kliff in Arizona, and you can see how Kliff developed Kyler. He was an electric running threat that threw a great deep ball and attacked more outside the numbers rather than the middle of the field, which is similar in style to Jayden right now. In those passing charts you can see in year one for Kyler, they mainly drew things up to play to his strengths, attack down the field and outside the numbers. But in year two and particularly year three, Kliff developed him into being able to attack the middle of the field and intermediate areas far more often before Kyler unfortunately suffered that big injury. So I think Kliff has a track record for developing that type of play-style, which makes Jayden the best fit for him. But I can just as easily see them liking McCarthy or Maye more, because those guys play more in the style the Kliff used in 2022, which was attacking over the middle more off play-action. That's what Kliff was working towards with Kyler before he got hurt.”

Yeah I’ve doubled up on OT (assuming one or both can play guard) and/or WR (one being more of a slot and the other bigger or an X and a Z, etc. I think CB is also a huge need. We may not have a single CB on the roster that is a scheme fit. I assumed Powers Johnson was solid 1st but yeah he would be also. Would be perfect because they could probably earn LG spot as rookie and then take over for Badisz in a few years.

Yeah the only C I’m drafting that early is Graham Barton because he can play LG easily

Were those 118 snaps special teams included or just as a pass rusher? I don’t recall him playing that much. -

I remember him flashing as a situational pass rusher. -
I think the appeal or MHJr is is floor is really high (starting WR) but Nabors might end up the better overall player in the NFL. He has more juice.

I’ve warmed up a lot to Daniels after watching all the throws. I think less of his deep ball but more of his ability to dump it off quick and go through reads. Also, his ability to take yards running and get out of bounds. I prefer Maye, but Daniels could be really good. I think Dak level good. Maye is the guy that could be a top 5 player though, and less of an injury risk too.

I thought the first retweet was borderline but the second one? Either the Agent is a moron (unlikely) or he’s doing his best to alienate Commanders and avoid Jayden going to Washington. Why? Jayden clearly wants to go to a coaching staff that believes in him and wants him. He wants to go to Las Vegas to be with AP, that relationship has already been discussed. I don’t know if Patriots are a means to that end or he likes the fit and wooing from Pats. Also, possible Giants, Vikings, or team like Denver has communicated to agent their desire to trade up and Commanders have essentially closed the door on a trade down that far (rightfully so). This is all speculation but it’s grounded in logic. Will this matter if GMAP believes Daniels is far and away the best QB? No, we pick him regardless and he sucks it up and it’s over by May. But for a group that seems to value buy in and relationship building it would be a strange outcome.

Guy seems like a total horse’s ass I’m not sure if Jayden is a good golfer but I know Maye is. Probably didn’t do well. Combine that with being super competitive, coming from Giants and Patriots who told him he’s the best QB ever and they want him, he thinks the whole thing is stupid. Visit went downhill from there. But that’s just one way it could have happened..

I don’t want to make too much of this but some thoughts: 1. Agent posting that is unprofessional as it could be prejudicial for his client to the future employer. No one wants to hear that their process is stupid. 2. Totally possible this is coming from agent alone, HOWEVER- doubtful he posts this if Jayden said, “I loved top golf, hanging with other players, and my interviews went phenomenally.” 3. Assuming Agent’s like isn’t on his own, and that it’s parroting Jayden we can assume either Jayden didn’t like the format, didn’t feel as if he did well, or isn’t excited about idea of going to Washington.
