  1. I've got like a 15% feeling that we can pull off an upset.  No matter how pessimistic I get about this team, there's always some glimmer of hope deep in my stomach that they can win on any given game.  "Any Given Sunday" is a phrase...well, because it is.  It's true, any given Sunday, a team can beat another team.

That's the thing about football, it gives you enough time between games to trick yourself into thinking your team's got a chance.

Unrelated to the articles coming out, but seeing all the stories leaking out of Jacksonville about Meyer's short tenure, can you imagine what Washington would be like if Meyer had been here and flamed out during all this? On the one hand, I'd like to think that would have been the nail in Snyder's coffin. On the other hand, it makes me REALLY appreciate the steadiness and respect that Rivera has brought with him.

Seeing him in the press box for a few games before the end of 2019, I think we can call that a bullet dodged.

It would have been par for the course.  What other team is owned by someone so bitterly disliked that would hire a coach who'd kick his kicker?

I'm not sure if the owner is liked, hated or just tolerated in Jacksonville.  He seems like a decent enough guy who wants to build a winner but doesn't know how.  That, he's got in common with Snyder but he doesn't seem like a big vat of douche fluid.

  3. I’m not sure who’s a bigger steaming pile of ****; Goodell or Snyder.

For the owners to be spurred into doing something about Snyder, this has to stop being a big WFT story and start being a big NFL story. That hasn't happened yet. It's big news here, but not nationwide. There've been stories, but it hasn't gotten long-term traction.

The other owners don't really care whether Washington has a competent football team, or even an ethically run one. They just want to avoid trouble for themselves.

That's a very good question, and I don't pretend to know for sure. He was going to sell anyway, wasn't he?

I think if he'd dug his heels, the owners wouldn't have taken action against him.

It's possible that the NFL is scared of more and worse coming out if they go after Dan, thus making it into a bigger problem affecting other owners.

And we have a winner!!  This is exactly why they do not do more to him. Until he starts to seriously impact league revenues then they will not touch him. They are afraid of the skeletons in thier own closets that will come out. He has to be caught in the act of something so egregious that the national response to the NFL is so negative they have to take thier chances. If he hasn't been fired for what he has already done it will have to be something new. All this is jsut drama for spectacle sake.

Only other hope is the Tanya gets tired of it to the point where she wants out. Very unlikely.

I’m agreeing with this line of thinking. At one point when all this started I thought it should be no problem for the NFL owners to hang Snyder out to dry.

But after the past couple days, I don’t think that’s the case anymore. I think they’re scared of him and what he might do if they force him to sell. Either he will sue them or he will release a **** ton of information about what he knows…and no one is safe, not the other owners, Goodell, league officials, everyone.

This is a guy who, IIRC sued his own season ticket holders. This is a guy who went hard after some website in India for linking him to Epstein. IIRC he sued City Paper.  Dude had private investigators showing up to peoples houses when the “Wilkinson investigation” was underway.

I will say the one thing that gives me some pause in this line of thinking is that while Dan has a great amount of “**** you money,” he can’t spend on lawyers like the NFL can.  The NFL practically has unlimited resources to lawyer up.

But then again, I don’t know if any court really matters here. What matters here is the court of public opinion….just like the jury in a trial hearing something that’s objected and sustained by the trial lawyers, whatever Snyder could do to the NFL, whatever information he could release about other owners, Goodell, the league, etc doesn’t matter in a courtroom. It matters to the fans and public perception.

At the end of the day I think about 90% of it is this. They'd be fine with the United States burning to the ground as long as it "triggered the libs" in the process.

That's totally it.  Pissing off the other side is fantastic when you're making fun of someone's football team...low stakes there.  But when it comes to...you know, the future of the country, it's a different ballgame.

Just last week alone I saw a big ass pickup truck with FJB written across the back glass of the cab...and another **** JOE BIDEN flag being waved proudly from another big ass truck.

What are you 13 with the clapping hands? Are you going to say it again for the people in the back?

Yes I read the article. It said GMs always look at hand size. Doesn't matter. 2 glove Kenny will be gone before our pick.

Are you sitting in the back?

If the only takeaway that you got from that article is that GMs always look at hand size then I don't know what else to tell you.  He probably will be gone but if he's not I'd still take him, 2 gloves or not.

    26 fumbles in college.

Did you read the article?  No correlation between hand size and fumbles.  Favre had giant hands and fumbled more than anyone.

In regards to Pickett, 3 fumbles this year.  He's gotten better over the course of his career.  Hand 👏size 👏 is 👏 not 👏 a 👏 reason 👏 to 👏 not 👏 select 👏 a 👏 QB

  7. I don't remember ****ting their pants about Ray Allen breaking the three point record the way they were for Steph last night.  I guess it's more a celebration of his career because he's really well liked.  Ray Allen was, too, but this is different.  Even though I don't really care for him, I recognize that Curry's beloved in a way that not a lot of athletes can achieve.  He's loved the way LeBron wants to be loved.

I wonder if we bring Fitz back. Would definitely be the top FA, but this injury may have taken away dudes gusto.

I'd rather not if that's the main option.  I'd rather roll with Heinicke instead of Fitz.  Fitz is capable of those boom or bust games, I think TH is, too.  TH is younger and I'm assuming after this injury to Fitzy, more mobile.

I like Heinicke a lot but I don't want him to be our OD starter in 2022.  As @Skinsinparadisesaid above, he's got 4 games to change my mind...even then, his clunkers are still a recent memory.

I'm aware that this is a weak draft class for quarterbacks but if Pickett is there for us, I wouldn't be terribly upset if we took him.  He is accurate, which is the skill that I place the most amount of importance on over everything else...yes, even arm strength.  I don't care if you've got a cannon but if you're wild.  I'll gladly take someone with a little less zip but can place a ball wherever he wants, whenever he wants.

The ONLY thing I'd like about bringing Fitzy back is that I'd get to use "Fitzy's got the chicken" ad nauseam in the game threads.

Heinicke stunk, the o-line stunk and as a result, the offense as a whole obviously stunk. That said, this game was lost when we turned the ball over on back to back possessions, which led to 15 Dallas points. Dallas had 9 points on real drives, as their other 18 points came off a fumble scoop and score and two short fields on a pick and Gibson's fumble.

I think this is the best summary and why I'm not so upset at the result of yesterday's game.

The first quarter was terrible.  We didn't get any points off the Collins pick and their defense ****ed us all over the field.  It sucks to give up 27 points but when you realize 15 of those came off turnovers...it's a fixable problem, IMO.  I'll take 9 points on real drives all day, every day.  Defense did pretty well.  Didn't fear Dak, Zeke, Cooper all day, really.  But Tony Pollard seems to be the guy that makes that unit go and he was out yesterday.  Still, they had some weapons available and weren't threatening by any stretch.

The offense was terrible yesterday but it did get marginally better as the game went on.  We only lost by a touchdown and had guys out of the parking lot playing DE.  Had the game kept going in the fashion of the first quarter/first half, I'd be more depressed about it today.  I'm not one for moral victories usually but we won the 2nd half...again, playing with a pretty weakened roster.

We'll see what the matchup looks like again in a couple of weeks.  If we're healthy, I like our chances.

I think he's better than we give him credit for when we're down on him and worse than we give him credit for when the team's doing well. He's football IQ and moxie. He's hustle. I think that's why when he tries to be a "game manager" his performance suffers.

He is an athlete. You can see it in his ability to escape pressure and his runs. He's got an okay arm even if it's below average, but like every quarterback he needs help. He needs system help, offensive line help, and receiver help. Yesterday, all his support systems faltered because of injuries. And he, himself faltered. He wasn't good enough.

I think Heinike's next step needs to be about anticipation. He doesn't really have the arm to be Brett Farve, but he might almost have the arm to be Drew Brees or early days Tom Brady. Both of them are much more accurate though and both of them understand when to throw the pass better. When he's on, Heinike lets it rip and understands timing. When he's off, he seems to be trying to hit targets (not sure if I'm right about that, but it feels right.)

I think you can win with him, but he's got to become a chess player on the field. He has to always be ahead of the defense. That's very hard to accomplish.

I think this is a very well written and accurate take.

It's not dirty if you're protecting your QB and it's done during gameplay while pass blocking. I did give 3 options to emphasize that they had to answer the Cowboys eye for an eye and chose not to.

Doc Walker gets on my nerves when he starts talking X's and O's but he has a point when it comes to football philosophy even if it is outdated

I don't care where you are, punching someone in the throat is dirty.
