  1. I can see that from his average PPG :ols:

Cool fact: only men's NCAA player to get a quadruple double. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=273172630

I'm actually shocked by that. I know it's one of the rarest feats in all of sports and only a handful of people in the ENTIRE world have accomplished it, but considering how many players have been absolutely dominate in college (especially back in the day) you would think more than one would have done it. Pistol Pete is the first one who comes to mind. I mean he averaged 40+ a game in each of his four seasons in the NCAA. You would think he would have been able to sneak a quad-double in there somewhere. But no, it's Lester freaking Hudson and only Lester freaking Hudson.

  2. I'm not talking about what teams dominate. Obviously the Skins rule. I'm talking sports in general. And basketball is king. Not just the Wizards. Georgetown, GW, Maryland, Mason, AU, etc. Plus the ridiculous amount of basketball talent this area produces. I also think that people mistake the outer 'burbs for the heart of DC. Not even.

And I can't believe I forgot the add Kwame to my list of Wizard disasters.

  3. History matters. That's why the Skins continue to dominate the area even though the Wiz have actually been more successful over the past decade. Even though DC is really a basketball town before anything.

One of my earliest memories, period, was when I was like 4 and talking to a friend about the Skins beating the Broncos to win the SB. I don't remember the game. I was probably sleeping. I don't think I even really knew what the hell the SB was totally. But I remember how excited our parents were. And then of course SB XXVI is a vivid childhood memory. I had a Skins highlight/season narration tape from that season. I must have watched that thing at least 500 times.

On the flipside, my earliest memories of the Bullets was that stupid Muggsy Bogues/Manute Bol(RIP) poster. I mean that was the symbol of my basketball team as a child. A freakshow. Then of course all the failures that followed. Mark Price, the breakup of CWebb/Sheed/Howard, Kevin Duckworth, Ike Austin, Rod Strickland (who I still think was a beast) and hot dogs, Juwan Howard leaving for Miami and then having to come back with a decade-long disastrous contract in a cruel joke played on Wiz fans by God, the stupid name change, Mitch Richmond, watching Ben Wallace blow up after being traded for a fat, lazy, worthless POS, Michael Jordan's disgusting promotion of his awesomeness while ****ing over the franchise for years to come, on and on.

I've been up in the Player's Club boxseats a bunch of times to watch games. You know who's always there? Who is the ONLY one there? Not Elvin Hayes. Not Earl Monroe. Not Gus Johnson. Not Wes Unseld. Nope, it's Gheorghe ****ing Muresean. Another sideshow. He's one of the coolest guys you'll meet and he was a pretty good player actually (the original Shaq-stopper) but come on. Wes might be in the owners box or something but Gheorghe is the ONLY ex-Bullet/Wiz player at the games.

Be really nice to focus on the proud history and move forward. Bring the legends back. Give us younger fans something to hang our hats on. Win some games. Start a new era. The Wall era. Man so much is riding on him. I got faith though. In him and Ted. I'm excited.

On a sidenote, I heard that the turnout for tonight's tip off wasn't half bad. A couple thousand people. That's pretty good considering. I was worried there was gonna be like 50 people there. I wanted to go but alas, when you're poor, work rules. If anyone went give us a breakdown.

  4. Along with roids and the strike, the ivention of the DH is one of the great travesties of baseball. Just horrible. NL baseball is so much better. So much more strategy. Real baseball. I'm so happy the Nats are an NL team. I don't care if I never see another AL game again.

  5. Anyone else think that his death may be steroid related? Early heart attacks are a side effect and he had two good years right at the height of the steroid era and then flamed out at 31.

That doesn't take away from the man though. He was one of those guys you could just look at and listen to and you knew that he was a 100% genuine good guy. The type to put a smile on your face by just being. RIP for sure.

  6. This is more a "fail" then anything. But I guess he's technically owned by plywood.

  7. they test before the fight but commission tests arent that strict. Mosley didnt test positive during his 2nd fight with De La Hoya, but during the BALCO trials it was confirmed that he was on roids for that fight

So if Manny does the stringent testing that Mayweather wants IMMEDIATELY after the fight, doesn't it catch that?

  8. Manny uses roids to get strong before the fight. By the time the fight is done and they test, its out of the system.

    Manny is a roider.

You know they test before the fight right? The same testing that the NFL and MLB (now) does. Floyd just wants some super duper Olympic type testing, which Pacman said he would do immediately after the fight.

I thought it reflected poorly on Manny as well. At first. Not anymore. Mayweather is just being his normal, douchey self. Starting bull**** for the sake of starting bull****. I'd be shocked if the fight doesn't go down.

  9. I've been waiting for this one to come out. I'm not going to but it though. i wish there were more fight fans on this board who lived in NOVA....I'd put together a fight night for all the pay per views

I'm down if you ever get serious about putting that together.

I think BHop and Roy would be boring as hell though. Especially at this point in their careers.

  10. weights for saturday's HW title fight:

    Vitali Klitschko: 252

    Chris Arreola: 251

chris has talent, but no work ethic whatsoever. 251 is only 4lbs less than he was his last fight when he was ridiculously out of shape against Jameel McCline. he should never be above 245 and is probably best between 235-240. its sad, he gets a shot at a title, and it seems thats still not enough to motivate him to get in better shape

Vitali will end his night inside of 7 rounds

    That's going to be ugly.

  11. I agree with the strategy, but what I was saying is that it looks like Mayweather isn't using his normal counter-punch strategy. He looks fierce and aggressive. It's very exciting but I think it's a bit risky. I wonder if he'll rely on the attack this much in the fight against Manny (if there is one).

Well he's not the king of the hill anymore. So he has to sell himself, build the excitement, get people wanting to see him again. If he goes out there sitting back and picking his shots, people aren't going to be hyping Mayweather/? the same as if he went out there and just destroys Marquez. Which it sounds like he's doing.

I don't know what he'll do with Manny. I know I'm buying that though. Definitely.

EDIT: And know that I can't see this fight so everything I'm saying is just based on what you all are saying. I could be dead wrong.

  12. mayweather is a lot more agressive than I remember in previous fights. I always thought he was a counter-puncher

Mayweather was a monster in the beginning. Similar to how Roy Jones was. Than as both of them got older they turned into more defensive/couter punching fighters. I think the thinking is, if you're on top, why put yourself out there?

  13. I agree....I told my dad that it was the best fight in history and he laughed at me. All the "old timers" like to believe that nothing of today can stand up to what they grew up with.

It is too bad they ruined that "could have been great trilogy" with Castillo coming in overweight twice. Irony is, Corrales made such a big deal about Castillo coming in over weight (for the second time in a row) for the third fight, and then Corrales showed up overweight for his next fight...haha

I actually got that second fight for free on PPV. I saw the first fight on Showtime and it was one of the best fights I'd seen since the Ward-Gatti wars. So I ordered the second fight on PPV. It was supposed to be for the title but Castillo came in over weight so they just fought for nothing. So I called Comcast the next day and complained that I paid 60 bucks for a title fight and I didn't get a title fight. They agreed and reimbursed me. Hustling baby.

And as far as Castillo getting screwed, yeah Corrales spit his mouthguard out. But Castillo still got ktfo. And the mouthpiece didn't do that. That fight was his and he lost it, mouthpiece or not.

  14. Dawson very unimpressive last night. I wish Calzaghe would come out of retirement and work Dawson. Light HW is a really weak division right now.

Did he win? I fell asleep about halfway through. Seriously. By the second round my eyelids started dropping. When Tarver spent the entire round stepping forward with his guard up. Then Dawson did the exact same thing in the third. It picked up a little after that but not enough. Zzzzzzz.

Kellerman nailed it. Dawson did nothing to show he's a star.

EDIT: And yeah, Tarver needs to be put out to pasture. Like a year ago. His wife is hot though.
