  1. GACOLB, if you hit Ortiz's sister, he'd hit you (not in that way) :box:

Well I used to box in my early teens. And I've always had heavy hands. I think I got a shot at a KO. (Which would be preceeded by me sneaking up on him from behind)

Stillunkown, I might be letting my rooting interest in him cloud by objectivity. So you might be right. And right now life isn't allowing me to dedicate the time to following the sport as much as I used to and would like to. So I'll take your word for it. It's all opinion though.

  2. Just got home from work and watched it on the DVR.

Kirkland is possibly my favorite fighter to watch. I literally smile when I watch him. He is just ridiculous. I think he may have seriously injured Julio's career tonight. Kirkland ripped his heart out and ate it in front of hm. The only thing I worry about is that I think it's only a matter of time before Kirkland takes on a fighter who has the style (and chin) to take advantage of Kirkland's freewheeling ways and takes him apart scientifically. But yeah I will always root for him and his trainer on a personal level as well.

Victor Ortiz is another one you can root for on a personal level. Also overcame some hard times and deep struggles. He's the real deal too. Best young fighter in the sport. Without a doubt in my mind. (And I would crush his sister :) ) I thought maybe the ref stopped tonights fight a little early but the outcome was inevitable.

  3. That was a straight punishment. I don't follow boxing that closely, but Mosley has to be considered one of the 10 best, at least 15 best, boxers ever right? He's been doing it for so long and is 46-5-1.

Back in the day (early 00's) Shane was right there in the best pound for pound talks with Roy Jones. But he lost a couple of times and got all mixed up in that Balco mess and kinda fell of the map a little bit.

He's always been great though. Best ever? Na, i dont think so. Boxing has been around for so long and there have been so many great fighters over the past century plus.

He's most definitely top 10 pound for pound in my generation of fighters, i.e. the past 15 years.

  4. I think people slept on Shane's chin. In 17 years he's never been KO'd and only knocked down once. Pretty f'n good.

And yeah Shane would throw a quick combo and either tie him up or bounce out. And his best shots came, I thought, when he would fake a bounce out and step up quick into viscious looping power shot. First couple rounds Margarito would block them or partially block them. After that though he was just too fast. He had an excellent jab going too. Another thing he did that Cotto neglected to do was go to the body. He did it rarely but he threw a couple a round. That bothers someone like Margarito whose body isn't exactly tight.

Really it was a picture perfect display of the sweet science. Excellent, excellent job by Shane.

Well I guess Margarito/Cotto 2 is off. (Although I'd really like to see that after what went down tonight with Margarito's gloves.) You think Cotto gets a shot at Shane? If I had to make it Id do Shane/Manny. Id love to see that fight. (I think Shane would take it but who knows.)

  5. Forgive the skepticism, but when I see something like this....similar to seeing Hopkins destroy Pavlick, I can't help but think that drugs are involved.

If anyone was trying to cheat it was Margirito and whatever they took out of his gloves pre-fight. I gotta think theres a chance that's what happened with Cotto.

But yeah, styles make fights. Mosley couldnt have picked a better trainer for this fight. Margarito and Pavlik are siimilar in that theyre both slow, keep coming forward power guys. Dude helped Hopkins take Pavlik out and now he helped Shane take out Mararito. And Mosley is much more on his game then B Hop is at this stage in their careers.

And then add to that the scrutiny that Shane is already under for Balco and I just dont see it. Sorry.

  6. Ive been a fan of Shane's since way back. Him, Roy Jones, Mayweather and Mickey Ward were my go to's back in the day. Add in thay I always love it when the guy no one believes crushes his opponent, i.e. Manny vs DLh. I'm so happy for him right now.

  7. Has anyone else grown tired of Stone Cold? I turn on Raw for the first time in months, and I get to see a 10 minute long commercial for a bad movie and Budweiser. It ain't 1998 anymore, it has gotten a little old...to me at least.

I'm with you 100%. DX is another one that is old, tired, and played out to me. I mean that time is long gone. I wish they could come with something new and fresh and quit trying to rehash the past.

  8. Ladder match between HHH and the Rock for the Intercontinental Title (back when it meant something) at Summer Slam. That is without a doubt my favorite match of all time. I watched it with my brother and one of our friends. The Rock was a heel at the time, still with the NoD (Mark Henry was in his corner) so he was hated. It was also when DX had just dropped so HHH was a huge face in turn. My brother and our friend were all for HHH but I've always had a thing for heels and I was on the Rock bandwagon way before anyone else. It was just so back and forth. So many close calls. Such a great time watching that match.
