  1. Yeah was gonna say, isn't Thibs doing the exact same thing now? Running him into the ground? (I have often wondered where the Wizards would be today if EJ hadn't been successful in running Thibs out of town. That EJ felt the need to do so--and in such a rushed, rude and ****ed up manner--tells me that Ernie/ownership's plan was indeed to replace EJ with Thibs at some point. So if it had gone as planned, Thibs replaced EJ, where would we be today)
  2. Watched growing up. I think the first PPV I clearly/vividly remember was Undertaker vs Undertaker to find out who was the real Undertaker (Undertaker won). Watched religiously in the 90's and into the Attitude era. Was a HUGE fan of wrestling, period. During the Monday night wars I would watch Raw in the living room and record Nitro in the basement old school style on a VCR (and then would run downstairs and watch it as soon as Raw ended.) Got as many of the PPVs as I could hustle out of my folks. Was so devoted and nerdy with it, I played Cyberslam like my entire teenage years. Don't know if anyone here knows that or used to play it. Was an eWrestling game where you would write out scripts and then run automated matches on some engine. The definition of nerd (my wrestling fandom coincided perfectly with the start of the Internet Age). My devotion started falling off after joining the Army in late 2001 (followed by other places) where TV wasn't too accessible. Was really the only reason. I still loved it, still gobbled up everything I could. Finally made it back home after a few years and tried to get back into it. Gave it a real effort, just kept getting lamer and lamer though. Maybe a year ago, maybe two or three (don't remember specifically) was going through the DVR and realized I had Raw/Smackdown on autorecord and hadn't watched a single one in damn near a full year, literally. Decided to end the recordings and ever since, reading this thread has been my only consumption of anything wrestling. So yeah, thinking and thinking about it, I honestly don't think there is anything they could do to get me back on board. I can't picture a single scenario where I would ever purchase a PPV ever again. It sucks because it was so much fun. Had a question: is it not obvious that they have an issue with the product? Has it not been obvious for awhile? And if the fixes aren't obvious, aren't the problems? So why are they still in the same quality-of-entertainment hole, still just lazily digging away? Is it just because anybody who has the power to do anything is getting theirs and that's good enough? Edit: lol started swyping out this post before LKB's was on here and I got to read that. Guess he answered my question.
  3. You're a better man than me. It's weird. I take such pride in coming from tbe diversity and openness of DC and the DMV. Like it's a core element of who I am as a man, as a person. But for some reason, I can't do women and sports. It's like nails on a chalkboard, just an automatic reaction. And I hate myself for it. I don't know, maybe the nanny used to beat me as a toddler with the Bullets on in the background or something.
  4. Just tell her it's the guy who was married to Kim for a couple months. She'll know who you're talking about then
  5. I don't know. Cowherd might hate on Kobe more than Wall these days. He might turn into Kobe letting people clown him and the Lakers are going to fold if they don't trade him by the end of the week.
  6. I wonder how Jordan's two seasons with us compare to Kobe this year. Just trying to think of superstar players over the years who played on **** teams and that was the first to come to mind.
  7. Kosher, assuming you watched Lakers/Wiz tonight? Like to get your take on the Wiz. And honestly mean that, not some **** talking angle or anything
  8. Lol http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/gamecast?gameId=400578556&version=mobile&src=desktop#recap Btw, that Wall shimmy shot might have great lasting gif potential if anyone wants to take a shot at it
  9. Why I prefaced my pregame post with "IF his jumper is falling". Started out cold and chose other paths to dominate, but dominate he did
  10. No times this season, three times last season. Final one was 01/11/2014
  11. Bold prediction of the day: Wall drops 40 tonight IF, big if, his shot is falling early. Just think Jeremy Lin has no business as a starting PG in this league, struggles with average PG's nightly and Wall's athleticism is going to make it ugly
  12. What'd Hinrich do? (Quick sidenote to end the day, I got to say, loving the effort to talk **** through the day. See, we'll survive the BSBan just fine. Honestly, thinking about it, really the only positive thing about BS was he was ALWAYS on, would ALWAYS respond and never seemed to mind that he ALWAYS sounded like an idiot. So yeah, more thought on it, starting to agree with a few of the others who think we'll ultimately be better off. **** talking just means so much more when BOTH sides bring BOTH comedy AND logic.)
  13. My bad Predicto. Totally forgot we still had a Hornets fan to point and laugh at. Don't Taze Me, hope you're up for the task... Btw, anyone else having problems with this thread? Seems like it keeps getting bumped back to two year old posts. You know, when the opinion of Heat fans mattered. Weird.
  14. Well if it wasn't already obvious, it's now officially a marketing gig/gimmick/schtick.
  15. I'm praying for a 1v8 of Oakland (aka Golden State) and Oklahoma City. That would just be awesome. The only thing that would make it any better would be if Predickto's tears taste like bacon. Hopefully he doesn't disappear on us and we find out.
  16. Lol had the opposite experience. Was stationed at Fort Hood a couple of years so spent time all over Texas. I've always said, remove all the things that make DC special (the people, the history, monuments, seat of power, local culture, so on) and that's Dallas. Just a boring, lame **** hole. (Loved Austin, really dug San Antonio and idk why, but I just liked being in El Paso)
  17. Any of you all ever spent time in Dallas? And I don't mean the seemingly universally-true layover at their DFW airport that everyone seems to experience at least once in their life. So yeah, real time: multiple days, experienced the city, the people, the local culture, sights, sounds , etc
  18. Agreed it doesn't make the pick justifiable for the original team if they finally live up to the potential on another team. I do think it justifies the pick for the player though. They can't be called a bust anymore.
  19. I think it does. You know who I've always wondered about on that question? Tyson Chandler. It took a couple of teams and an extended period--and he never really lived up to his high school hype--but in that **** draft, was he worth that top 3 pick? And what would have happened if we had taken him over Kwame? Maybe he absolutely HAD to take that path in his career to reach the heights he has (DPOY). (And of course Gasol should've been the top pick but EVERYONE knew that wasn't happen with Jordan making the pick. **** you MJ and **** you Kukoč.)
  20. Props to the Sports Fix on leading their show off with Wizards talk. Loverro even saying he's starting to think they're the team to beat in the East, that they are so ridiculously deep and not a single knucklehead on the team. Hopefully they're playing the show in the station's bathroom so Kornheiser can listen while he finishes cleaning up the bull**** he spewed this AM. And yeah, I understand the nature of Kornheiser's show. Have listened all my life. Wasn't just that he said though, it's HOW he said it; like we're still in the days of Susan O'Mally. Been through so much **** in a quarter century of Bullets/Wizards fandom, when we finally, FINALLY deserve legit praise, just ****ing give it or let the people who know what the **** they're taking about do the talking (they got David ****ing Aldridge on the show for christsake). Do yourself a favor and never stray from your boycott of Flukes. Listened once to his new show. Once. Ugh. Whoever thought it was a good idea giving some wannabe redneck a show in Chocolate City talking about majority Black leagues is a ****ing genius.../s (<--tbc on that)
  21. It's the fact that he's LOCAL media doing a LOCAL radio show on a LOCAL sports station that really set me off
  22. Anyway, I officially absolutely despise Tony Kornheiser and can't stand him. Growing up with Wilbon and him, part of my childhood, part of the two Redskin SB's I remember (especially XXVI, with the Bandwagon). As such, always try to give them the benefit of the doubt and give them a pass. Wilbon officially lost me with the ST tragedy (RIP) but Kornheiser has just barely hung on. No more. There's nothing more infuriating and annoying then listening to paid sports commentators talk out of their ass about your team. The fact that Kornheiser talks out of his ass on tbe teams in the one specific city he's paid to cover sports in is simply disgusting. According to him the Wiz are clearly just fighting fur 3rd place and have no business being mentioned km the same breath as Cleveland and Chicago. And they way he says it, just ugh. I know it's hard to follow teams when you're in bed by the time their games start at 7pm but you think you're getting paid to cover them you could do some ****ing research. Seriously I'm not sure who i hate more now, Kornheiser or Chad Flukes. I really need to finally invest in satellite radio. /rant Sorry. I feel better Just realized that's Martell Webster with the steal and pass on that Andre Miller dunk vid. Cool.
  23. He's the greatest rebound ever for a reason. Seriously he was an absolute god at everything related to it. Always heard he would spend hours just having people purposefully miss shots so he could study and learn how balls would come off the rim. No idea how true that is and how much that's urban legend. Even if bull****, the fact that it's believable says a lot.
  24. A few weeks. Mod confirmed in PM. Think it was something in the MLB thread that was the final straw Agreed. Is what it is though
