Quan and Forbes. High picks. Sigh
-
What a difference it makes when the team changes out both the left guard and the center. Larsen and Paul make a more potent duo. I'm not going to fault Paul too much for the two false starts. Rookies make mistakes on their first start. Why wasn't this change made earlier??

Anyway, catch me up. Have people started revolting against Howell yet?
No. Why would they? The Giants' pass rush was destroying the OL for the entire first half. EB didn't call any screen plays and the few running plays were straight into the strength of the defense.

And similar to quan Martin, you take a talented athlete but then try to jam too much into his brain for him to play fast. Maybe they felt with all the talent at safety it was ok to overload him and bring him in slowly. My feelings just differ in that you could have given him one thing (buffalo nickel) and let him master it so he can play fast and then pick up more as he goes. Instead they threw the kitchen sink at him so he’s not good enough at anything (by their estimation) to play cuz he has to think too much. I just don’t like that philosophy with their young players.
I think that's exactly what team management was thinking. Pick Quan with the idea of developing him over the next year or two. It's a good idea if Quan was a 6th round pick but not as a second-round pick. Most fans don't like the build of the team; play-calling considering the player abilities; draft pick selection etc. I'm ready for the new ownership to clean house and bring in a true GM. On the bright side, I like Howell.

Here's how it should go, IMO: Harris finds and hires a great GM. The GM finds the right HC. The HC hires the coordinators and position coaches. The GM hires all of the staff necessary to evaluate college and pro talent. The fans enjoy the fruits of their labor.
We had all of that before Snyder. DC really does need a complete overhaul of the system.

I didn’t know it was 19 sacks…Yikes.
At the KC Chiefs, EB had an experienced QB followed by Patrick Mahomes. It's been a while that he's had to develop a normal rookie. I'm more interested in developing Howell than I am in winning this season. The sacks have to end, or he'll develop happy feet in the pocket - or injured. Howell will be here next season either as the starter or backup. I'm not sure about the rest of the coaches.

I don't remember the exact cost of these trades but RG3 was 3 firsts and a second. McNabb was 2 seconds? The draft picks were also high in the round. We had the 35 million salary cap fine. None of those trades or fines were his fault but they handicapped the team. Shanny inherited a bloated payroll. It is his fault for demanding that the star free agent DT change from the 3 tech in the 4:3 defense to nose tackle in the 3:4.

EB is learning to be the play caller. Howell is learning to become a starting QB in the NFL. I fault Rivera for not understanding what is necessary to develop a young QB. He wasted too many picks on the Defense thinking that the Offense would be able to get by with just the basics. We have two second round picks on the Defense (a DT, and a S) who have contributed zero to the team. He should have invested draft capital into the OL. A good GM will solve many of the ills.

Growing pains for a young QB. Defense has thrown in the towel.

With Logan Thomas out this seems like the right move
EB may be planning on a lot of running plays with a lead FB. Perfect for this weather.

I don't think that either Chase Young or Sweat has earned a massive contract just yet. One of them needs to step up and dominate to earn the big bucks. I haven't seen it yet. Hoping for a new GM to make those decisions for the team because I don't have any faith in the front office.

Just think what this team would be like if we spent/drafted OL, I put that one on Rivera's stubbornness. Not taking anything away from a great comeback victory but not investing in our OL will come back and kick us in the ******** moving forward.
You mean instead of the Quan Martin pick?

Dumb call by Rivera on the long FG attempt

If we go QB (which isn’t out of the realm) we better find a way to shore up the offensive line. Because if we don’t the next QB will be ruined, too.
Payton wanted to invest in the OL when he took the HC position. He understands.
We will have clarity after this season. Right now it looks like it's going to be a new start. Hopefully we get a great GM

Forbes second game. Stop saying he's a bust. The defense DL and Linebackers aren't getting it done. The amount of draft picks invested in the defense instead of the offense. Omg. Well Peyton is a good coach. Wilson looking good again

Chase has been a non-factor for this team for too long. I wish him the best season so that he can get paid somewhere else. Oft-injured players usually remain oft-injured. Unfortunately, he's a bust for his draft position. But we need him to play well this season.

Does anyone else feel that the QB curse has lifted and floated down upon another unfortunate team (Jets)? How many times have brand new Skins QBs gone down with season, or career, ending injuries?
-
Rivera needed to hit this draft out of the park. He didn't on the ones he picked and passed on ones that look to be instantly productive. IMO, Rivera is a lame duck. The other coaches are still working for their future contracts. Find a real GM.

Its progress. But, I look at the Ravens positional strength and makes me appreciate the importance of a quality GM structure.

Why? It's like the memory of a fart. Best forgotten, but you make sure to stay far away from the sick basturd

Game started out pretty iffy, the offense needs some work, but I think they can score points. Defense might have to carry some extra weight for a bit. I had a surprising amount of fun watching this game.
The offense definitely needs work. Was the first success on our 3rd possession AFTER the first string defensive line of the Browns went to the bench?
Washington's first string defensive line needs some work too. TV announced 4 first round draft picks the we watched as the line was repeatedly gashed up the middle. No sacks. Why were they lining up 2 wide right and left with the middle empty. They couldn't get off their blocks either. I expect better. They need to be dominant.
DBs as a group were excellent. Better tackling than I can remember in the last 20+ years. Quality guys on 3rd string. Team did a good job developing talent. But, a good GM would find a way to trade value for value instead of having to let everyone go. Not impressed with the hyped starting DEs. The production isn't there. If you offered me a trade for a high quality OL or TE, I would take it in a heartbeat
