  1. I would like to get inside Peters' head. Did he want to move up with the Howell trade instead of taking multiple lower round picks (of equal point value)? If so, trading down to pick up a 4th might be pointless. I'd consider it a success if we can find legitimate value players at OT, WR and CB in rounds 2 and 3. We have five picks - I'll add G and then most any other position. I do not like the Profootball Network mock (Joshia Caldwell): 2nd Round 36 - Max Melton CB - OK, but Suamataia OT gets taken at pick 37 40 - Zach Frazier C - why? The following players are picked by other teams after pick 40: Ricky Pearsall WR, Jordan Morgan OT, Ladd McConkey WR, Patrick Paul OT, Cooper Beebe G, Kiran Amegadjie OT. There are a number of CBs that are picked lower in round 2 3rd Round 67 Adisa Isaac Edge - OK. We miss out on Ben Sinnott TE, Cade Stover TE, Dominich Puni G, Roman Wilson WR. 78 - Trey Benson RB - NO!!! Bralen Trice Edge was still available, Mike Sainristil CB, Ja Tavion Sanders TE, Malachi Corley WR, Troy Franklin WR, and plenty of other WRs lower in round 3. 100 Trevin Wallace LB - Hmmm A trade down from #40 to the mid 50s would net a 3rd round in the mid 80s. But, the players that are still available at #40 in his mock would be difficult to pass on. I could get players I want in round 3 simply by using pick 78 on something other than RB. We will know next Friday.
  2. Will this be the first year that the NFL does not break for a commercial before we pick?
  3. Peters will have the flexibility to do what is best. I'm not concerned about bypassing the 4th round though. Picks #36 and #40 might net first round talent at some position. If so, I'm not going to trade down for 2nd round talent + a 4th round talent. Pick #67 could net 2nd round talent, so again, it's a keeper IMO. Let's say picks 78 and 100 are legitimate round three. If I hold onto #78, I'm are more likely to get the particular player who fits need and ranking.
  4. 2nd: Jordan Morgan, Arizona, OT 2nd: Darius Robinson, Missouri, EDGE So, you would prefer to pass on Morgan and Robinson to get Fashanu? I notice you didn't select any WRs in your mock draft. There might be some WRs available at 40 that are as highly rated as Robinson. It's hard to say who would fit best in their plans since we don't have any idea of the defensive scheme.
  5. Why would there be any incentives for a football HQ? What is the benefit to the State? Is the franchise HQ bringing thousands of workers and tax revenue? I don't think so.
  6. I wouldn't doubt that they have an assistant scouring the internet for topics of interest to fans. How else to keep our interest 24/7 for months? On the draft!!! And, then training camp. I remember when we didn't turn back to the Redskins (after the Superbowl) until the preseason games began.
  7. Just because we need a TE doesn't mean we should draft one. But, we are fortunate that Peters seems to have an eye for unrecognized TE talent. Taking a flyer on a TE prospect is okay but even using pick 139 may mean that some other team selects Zac Zinter OG before we get to our next pick at 152.
  8. Harris owns the land for the old FedEx stadium and the RFK land is already "free". Public funding will be needed for the surrounding infrastructure and financing of the construction of the stadium. If DC can figure out a way to get a positive return on its infrastructure and financing investment, then it can make sense to have the stadium in DC. Unfortunately, rogue politicians can derail everything as we saw with Monumental in Virginia. As a fan, I want the stadium in DC. But, Harris may get a larger return if he redevelops the current stadium site with assistance from Maryland.
  9. Bowser said no. But, we will see. It has to have had an impact on the available funds for improvement.
  10. I don't like the idea of selected two DEs with the first three picks (after QB). Is Patrick Paul OT really worth the #40 pick if he's that raw? I'd rather go CB because the ones selected after 40 may not be there in a trade down. For that matter, the WRs might be picked clean.
  11. Forbes was a draft mistake, but Rivera made many of those. Forget about the round that he was drafted. How can he be used to benefit the team? If the answer is nowhere then he should be traded for a 6th or 7th round pick if possible. I'd try him at FS because that's the only position that I think the team can take advantage of his ball hawk skills. He's too skinny to play SS. I don't think he's suited to CB and he's not going to be durable enough to be a full-time special teamer. Fortunately, the team is likely to be in the position to draft another CB. I recognize that downgrading a 1st round draft pick from CB to FS is not a popular idea. But, what does Forbes do well?
  12. Expensive vet WRs might be a better idea for the Commanders in year 3. The new QB hopefully will have matured by then and can take advantage of the premiere WR's skill-set. Let's pick a WR in this deep draft.
  13. Most stories, from now until the draft, are going to be click bait. Just wild speculation to keep everyone interested. The NFL loves it. But most of it is silly. Ten teams wind up picking the same players. There's a mock where the Commanders trade up to the first round using #36 plus 2 other picks just to get a CB. Not an OT! The team that acquired the #36 pick then selects Chop Robinson. That's the danger of trading up with that #36 pick. Someone will fall to 36 even if it's not our most coveted position. Maybe Ladd McConkey....not a bad consolation prize.
  14. Many mocks are showing a heavy run-on OTs in the first round. Every team is going to believe that the Commanders will pick an OT at 36 if one is still available. Picks 33-35 are going to be critical (including trades). Pro-football Network has us selecting Edge and CB. It may be good in the long-term but I'm going to be initially disappointed.
  15. The last thing we need is for the choice of draft picks or free agents to be influenced by a desire to reinvigorate the fan base. That approach smacks of the prior ownership group.
  16. Peters will listen to trade offers and compare the trade value to his evaluation of the top 2 QBs available this year. We don't know what he really thinks of these QBs. The media talking heads need to fill time. I saw one idea floated where the Vikings put all of their chips in for a top QB. 2 firsts this year plus a bunch of high picks next year. It can be fun to speculate but really I want the offer and to identify the players that could be picked from the trade. Right now I'm betting we take the QB at 2
  17. MSN just had a ranking of the best player selected by each team in the 2023 draft. Our "best" was 6th round Chris Rodriguez RB who played sparingly during the year. I'm not knocking Rodriguez, but that's a sad indictment on talent selection. We may not be able to get the particular players we want, or specific positions filled, but talent wins out in the end. Fingers cross that Peters knocks one out of the park for his first draft. I really don't want to give up any picks in this draft.
  18. Right now, it seems that the team can potentially land as many as five future starters with these picks. But only if they don't trade them away to move up in the draft. So many options if we give up on the dream of an immediate starter at LT. We need a free agent who can hold down the fort in the near term and perhaps become the future swing tackle. I'm coming around to the BPA philosophy (within reason). Second Round No. 36, 40 Third Round No. 67, 78, 100
  19. At #29, I think all of the preferred OTs may already have been taken. At 23-24, there may already have been a good run on OTs. If I was a team with a first pick mid round 1, I would value an OT more highly than a CB given the depth at CB. I think we are more likely to have a wide choice of iOL and the second tier of OL.
  20. Peters isn't afraid to move around in the draft as we have seen with the Howell trade and SF's past history. I like the moves in the 3rd round to be better positioned to pick the highest value in 2024. Considering the depth at certain positions, picks 36, 40, 67, 78, and 100 are going to be interesting. My guess is that bpa will mean a WR and CB somewhere in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Probably iOL. We are all anxious about OT. If it doesn't work out as we hope, perhaps year 1 of the rebuild will involve 2TE sets quite often.
  21. Rare is not raw. If you like your steak well done....you don't like steak. What is Peters cooking up today? The remake is happening before our eyes but each free agent signing is becoming a dopamine fix for fans.
