Keep Cosmi at RG and find a solid RT at #36. One of the many that have a 1st round grade will drop. Just hope that one that fits our system is available for us.

Wouldn't we prioritize a LT with that pick? They tend to go higher than RT and perhaps we can find a gem in the mid rounds.

Paul is a physical beast. Possibly the best in the draft as just looking at that, but he's raw.

Paul was poorly coached this year, so it's hard to tell how he'll do.

    :D

Given who we brought in to be our new OL coach, I'm not optimistic Paul will do any better next year either, unfortunately.

Anyone seriously think that Ben "Roids" Johnson or Mike "Doobie Brothers" Macdonald could have assembled such an impressive staff so quickly?

Seems like there are more levels to a head coaching hire than being a trendy young coordinator, or being the last guy to have coffee with Shanahan or McVay.

    Let's hope you're right!

I can see most of those players mentioned. Reaves should be a no brainer. Brissett feels right if they want a vet to match with a young #2 pick QB. Wouldn't Hudson cost over a million to bring back? I am not certain he is worth it. I guess they will need to figure if he really fits the new scheme.

I  want OL WR TE LB and DB after they grab the early QB

I'm sorta hoping we nab an OL and LB in free agency. Maybe even a TE.

For me, OL is the priority after the first round. Maybe WR as well given the talent in the draft but he'll need to be a big boy.

He doesn't have to because Quinn who wanted Kliff as soon as he became available, told Adam that Drake Maye was his guy at QB.  Just my opinion.

QB is only one position - gotta make sure the surrounding cast fits the mold of what Kliff wants to put in place. Again, Peters knows the kinds of skill players to go after for a WCO. We have no clue how successful he will be in identifying what is needed to make Kliff's offense go.

That's where Adam Peters comes in!  Yes!  :)

The problem here is that Adam Peters knows how to "shop" for a West Coast offense and has proven he's good at identifying talent that fits that system.

We have no clue if he can do the same for whatever the hell system Kliff Kingsbury runs.

A few guys I feel take another massive step next year are Tyler Smith, Osa Odighizuwa  , DeMarvion Overshown, TJ Bass, Jake Ferguson and Juanyeh Thomas. Smith and Fergs were Pro Bowlers, but I feel they become household names next year.

Bass played really well when he was called to play and Thomas had great numbers when playing. Overshowns injury hurt Quinn’s defense as he was slated for a massive role.

Damn man, I really wanted Washington to take Overshown.

Kelly was just another case of Peter principle with the Eagles and 49ers. He was even labelled "dictator" by Eagles players. Maybe he'll pan out as an offensive coordinator in the NFL.

Count me in the camp that I hope this is just a rumor and we don't hire him. Hopefully, we won't have to ever find out.

And there is one thing Sam showed last year that doesnt get much discussion - he showed he can throw on the run. Make difficult throws. His first TD pass of the year to BRob running out of bounds twisting his body sidearming it was all the proof I needed that he had indeed studied Mahomes after we brought in EB and practiced what he saw. He was stepping out of bounds when the catch was made. Watch the link. Logan still thinks that pass was to him. This the QB thread??

This is what the short QBs HAVE to ace. Call it Mahomianisming.

Randy, are you trying to make the case to give Sam another chance?

Logan Paulsen implied earlier that Quinn had a lot of input in pushing for Kyle and said he's good at spotting coaching talent, take that for what you will.

    I hope you're right

Yeah, it was really unprompted by Logan.  The fact that he's turned stuff down is big.  He also mentioned settled in this area.  Couple that with his admiration of Quinn seems like a fit.

I heard that segment. He said a couple of guys in Miami wanted him to go down there. I think it was last offseason. He said he preferred the DMV.

My guess is he'd coach for Quinn if he was open to it. I think he would make a great TE coach.

Quinn had a handshake deal and was still in the playoffs. Seattle played the Pats in the Super Bowl that year. They hired Kyle to be on his staff before it was official.

So then it's fair to assume Quinn wasn't the primary person responsible for hiring Shanahan onto that staff ...

I wonder who’s in charger of hiring the coordinators here. I feel like peters & co may not allow Quinn to hand pick his staff.

i, along with many other here, was very anti-Quinn; he’s literally the one coach we interviewed who I said please just not him.

anyway, the one bright spot was that he hired Kyle Shanahan as OC in ATL. Maybe he has an eye?

I’m trying to find something positive because all the success he’s had in this league can be easily proven otherwise.

I read somewhere that Quinn wasn't responsible for the Shanahan hire in ATL. Perhaps that was the owner's choice?

  13. 4 minutes ago, Warhead36 said:

Yeah I'm the biggest Maye fan here so I'd prefer Maye anyway and you're right he's actually quite a good athlete.

Its probably not gonna happen. I think we'll go for one of the 49ers assistants to be OC like what was rumored before.

From your lips to God's ears...

  14. Just now, Warhead36 said:

Its tough because all the good OC candidates either became HCs or are already taken up by other teams. I think Klint Kubiak might be the only one left but he's never called plays before.

Disagree - I would take either Kubiak or Griese in a heartbeat. We would be way better off with either of them.

  15. Just now, Warhead36 said:

Yeah I actually wouldn't hate Kelly as OC. The guy does know offense and you probably don't have to worry about some team poaching him after a year.

"Wouldn't hate" is way different than "love".

After the lackluster Quinn hire, I want to "love" our OC pick, not simply "not dislike".

A Chip Kelly hire would, coupled with Quinn, make me question the wisdom of Adam Peters.

If Quinn is the guy I’d imagine a big part of why he got the job is his ability to assemble an impressive enough staff compared to other candidates. That plus his players want to french him. So I’d be surprised if that’s the hold up. Usually these guys have agreements in place already with their top coordinators that are gonna come with them

    Then what's the hold up?
