  1. Well, that has been alleged, but as far as I know not proven. Maybe Snyder was directly involved, maybe he was not. We will never know now that the settlements have been made. I guarantee you that these kind of things happen or are ripe to happen with some of the other NFL teams. There is a reason just about every job you take includes some training regarding workplace discrimination and Sexual Harassment. As for your last paragraph, yes I agree, and feel bad for the current cheerleaders while understanding that this move absolutely makes sense from a business standpoint. Hopefully, once the dust settles the program can continue in some fashion.
  2. I honestly didn’t know there were still that many squads left. I thought the number was far fewer...although I will say I expect all the other owners are now taking a very hard look at what happened here. If they aren’t they better be. I would expect in the years to come more cheerleading programs are “paused” for “review” I work in a field that carries with it a lot of liability. Whenever there is a lawsuit and/or settlement, whatever caused that to happen gets thoroughly reviewed. Policies and/or procedures are totally revamped and updated. All that makes sense as to why the program has been stalled now. The rebranding also gives them another reason, but any fool can see that isn’t the real reason. As for Jason Wright’s explanation, I don’t know what people really expect. The guy isn’t going to provide an itemized list of why they are pausing the program, and how it relates to the settlements nor does he have to. I get people strongly dislike Snyder, but some of us have been saying from the start this is not going to cause him to lose the team. It’s just not. Recommendations are going to be made and the team will follow them to a tee. Of course, Snyder cannot ban women from working at the park nor should he (Federal law rightly forbids this), but he can decide what jobs he created that they can hold. Litigation always carries with it unintended consequences.
  3. I think it’s the removal of the liability that goes with the cheerleading program now. I’m sure there was a massive amount of money paid in these settlements. The team is under no obligation to keep the cheerleaders in place. As much as I loved the First Ladies over the years, an unfortunate side effect of the precedent that has been set by these massive settlements are the assurance you don’t have to do it again. I think In all likelihood some variation of the program returns, but I expect it will be much different. There is a reason most NFL teams don’t have cheerleaders anymore.
  4. I know we need a QB but I’m glad we didn’t get Stafford at that cost. Too high and 9 times out of 10 they never pan out like you hope and expect. Anything short of a Lombardi and it’s a miss.
  5. Well, it’s not like he would hire Hurney if Ron did not want Hurney. He isn’t hiring Hurney in spite of Ron. I think the sum of the three parts...Rivera, Mayhew, and Hurney are what they believe will get the organization on the right track. Rivera has the final say, but they work together to find the best solutions.
  6. I firmly believe we are headed in the right direction now. Only time will tell if the changes = Lombardi trophies/legitimate contenders/sustained success. For the non-fan, observer there is a lot to like now with this team and overall there is a much better vibe. Hope springs eternal. Another huge part of this fresh start is we've rid ourselves of the name controversy. Very little that has been published about the team since the start of the 2020 season has been negative. The focus is all on team and football now. I don't think you can put a number on what that is worth when you are trying to get a clean start.
  7. I'm surprised nobody has either, but I think it's still a free country and people can think what they want. I'd rather he didn't tweet at all, but it's his choice. The insinuation that because he most likely has different political views than most of his players should or could be "called out" bothers me tremendously. I will leave it at that.
  8. The reaction some have had in this thread reminds me of this Boogie Nights scene, lol. “You want it to happen but it’s not going to happen.” (Bad Language)
  9. The lawyer (I forget her name off hand) will ensure the policy is corrected. This kind of thing is exactly what she has been brought in to look at when you talk about analyzing an organizations operations. He will do what she tells him.
  10. Revealed to the world and possibly just revealed to Dan Snyder. The key to his surviving this as owner is what he did once he knew. If I have two subordinates and one is sexually harassing the other on a daily basis, but it never happens when I’m around, nobody tells me anything, and the victim never formally complains...I am in the clear. You can’t address what you don’t know about. Once it can be proved I have been told via formal complaint, and I take zero action to investigate or address the complaint...that’s when I get in trouble. The fact that their sexual harassment policy did not tell employees how to formally make a complaint, that is a big problem that will be fixed.
  11. The only reason he has been able to get away with that is because up until now there wasn’t a problem. Most businesses are reactive and not proactive when it comes to this kind of thing. ADA is another example, and it often takes somebody formally complaining to get anything done.
  12. Title VII of the Civil Rights act of 1964 applies across the board whether you manage a Dollar General or an NFL franchise. Most business owners, managers, and supervisors are well aware of the laws against sexual harassment in the work place and train their staff on a regular basis. I guarantee you when this is all over the Washington to be named will have a robust sexual harassment policy in place which will describe very clearly how to complain and to whom. There will be a designated EEOC in place as well. (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Representative)
  13. First paragraph, that’s absolutely fair. Second paragraph...perhaps... but Gibbs builds winners everywhere he goes. You don’t get to accomplish all he’s accomplished in his life to include NASCAR without being able to smell bull****.
  14. I will say this also, and then let it rest, because I don’t like that I have been forced into a position of defending Dan Snyder. He deserves a lot of criticism. Joe Gibbs always speaks highly of him. Joe Gibbs helped him hire Rivera last Winter. I doubt anybody here wants to question Joe Gibbs integrity.
  15. That’s debatable but it’s wrong either way. I won’t defend him from anything we know he has done.
  16. In America you are innocent until proven guilty. If you are going to ruin a man’s life over something like this you need proof. I’m not saying not look into it, and I’m not accusing Bibbs of lying either. I’m saying I don’t know and nobody else here does either. I get the hate for Snyder, believe me I do. Show me a video. Let me hear some audio. Otherwise it’s one man’s word against another.
  17. To play devil’s advocate if Bibbs has no proof on Snyder these are just unsubstantiated allegations from a presumably disgruntled former player. I get people want Snyder out...but I want him out for things he has actually done. I’m not into character assassination to get a desired result.
  18. Me also, because I know what I can’t do, but I do know how to get the most out of somebody who does.
  19. Oh I don’t disagree that most have been bad, just pointing out there were some good ones. He’s missed far more often than hit. What he did to Marty was a travesty, nearly 20 years later and that still burns me up. I truly believe Shanahan got a raw deal here. I really hope Rivera is the right guy, and he seems to understand he needs the right people around him. You will sink or swim with the talent you surround yourself with. I like everything I see so far. I could not imagine talking to a subordinate like that lol. “Wanna play? Meet me in the parking lot after work!”
