  6. Middle school wrestler lets boy with cerebral palsy win match Justin Kievit, a middle-school wrestler from Tennessee, showed off his sportsmanship when he matched up against Jared Stevens, who has cerebral palsy. The match, which was taped and posted to Facebook by Kievit's father and to YouTube by Stevens' dad, begins with Stevens being gently laid down on the wrestling mat by a coach. Once the match begins, Kievit maneuvers around Stevens in a low crouch. Kievit then gets down on the mat and slides underneath Stevens so Stevens can pin him. The crowd went wild for Stevens' win and Kievit's heart. According to Kievit's father, the act wasn't planned. The proud dad remarked to Franklin Home Page: "The first time he met Jared was when he shook hands with him before the match. So it really was spontaneous. They just picked this kid. If you watch the video, he just did an amazing job. There's not many adults comfortable putting hands on a disabled kid, much less another 13-year-old." http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/middle-school-wrestler-lets-boy-cerebral-palsy-win-222254658.html

  9. "Jennifer Foster of Florence, AZ was visiting Times Square with her husband Nov. 14 when they saw a shoeless man asking for change. She writes, “Right when I was about to approach, one of your officers came up behind him. The officer said, ‘I have these size 12 boots for you, they are all-weather. Let’s put them on and take care of you.’ The officer squatted down on the ground and proceeded to put ...socks and the new boots on this man. The officer expected NOTHING in return and did not know I was watching*. I have been in law enforcement for 17 years. I was never so impressed in my life. I did not get the officer’s name. It is important, I think, for all of us to remember the real reason we are in this line of work. The reminder this officer gave to our profession in his presentation of human kindness has not been lost on myself or any of the Arizona law enforcement officials with whom this story has been shared. Our thanks to the Fosters for their attention and appreciation, and especially to this officer, who remains anonymous. 10. I had the Blue Mountain Barrel House "Isabel Porter" on tap in Harrisonburg, and then my search for bottles of it ended at Total Beverage. Hints of orange and chocolate. Very nice. I'll have to try those two also.
  11. 9 million hits: and now Drunk "Bohemian Rhapsody" Guy Convicted, Wears Viking Horns to Court The Alberta man who became a YouTube sensation for enthusiastically belting out “Bohemian Rhapsody” from the back seat of an RCMP cruiser has been convicted of impaired driving and refusing a breathalyser test. Robert Wilkinson will have to pay a $1,400 fine and will be prohibited from driving for one year. Video footage captured on the cruiser’s internal camera of Mr. Wilkinson’s passionate performance was later sent to the 29-year-old as evidence for his trial. At the urging of friends, Mr. Wilkinson posted it to YouTube, where it went viral, amassing nearly nine million hits. Mr. Wilkinson had no defence lawyer and represented himself at trial but failed to convince the court the arrest was a violation of his Charter rights. He arrived at the court building wearing sunglasses, a Viking helmet complete with horns and a NASA T-shirt proclaiming: “I need my space.” http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/drunk-bohemian-rhapsody-singer-convicted-wears-viking-horns-to-court/article5749680/?cmpid=rss1

  15. 9 Year Old Girl Shreds Boys football league 25 touchdowns, 10 XP scores, 1,911 yards http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gs8X1RzQ1Gw&feature=player_embedded It started as a way for an 8-year-old girl to keep up with her big brother. Sam Gordon just wanted to run with the older kids. The coaches in the local tackle football league figured, hey, why not? Maybe they could turn it into a drill: Who can outrun Max's little sister? They were shocked to find the answer: no one. Sam Gordon, now 9, became one of the fastest kids this Salt Lake City area "Gremlins" league had ever seen. They put her in drills and she outran boys two years older. They allowed her into the "Sharks and Minnows" game and stared in awe at not only at her speed, but her ability to move like a tailback. "She could cut and follow blocks like a college football player," says her coach, Chris Staib. Staib hatched a plan: His team was drafting seventh out of nine. He wanted to pick the girl. So he started talking her down, suggesting she would get hurt. The other coaches bought it, and with his first selection he chose Sam Gordon. "You dog!" they howled. Staib just laughed. Sam ended up running for 25 touchdowns and 10 conversions (no PATs at this level) in her first season playing tackle football. She earned the nickname "Sweet Feet" – a modern-day Rudy Huxtable – and a breathtaking viral video in which she looks so fast that you have to wonder if it's real. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/internet-sensation--nine-year-old-girl-shredding-defenses-to-the-tune-of-25-touchdowns.html
