4-5 wins?  I dont know about that… Nussmeier played well vs an underrated wisconsin defense in the bowl game. Not saying Nussy is better by any stretch but he isnt 5 losses worse than Jayden.

Lose to A&M, Florida, Arkansas, and Missouri with Nuss. Nuss is going to be a good one but Daniels put the team on his back in those games. They don’t make a bowl game with Nuss, that’s how bad the defense was.

The arguments that look bad to me are the ones that ignore reality, like claiming there wasn't an ocean of difference in the quality of the situation Daniels and Maye played in last year.  Do you really want to claim that Tez Walker wasn't that much worse than Marvin Harrison Jr because of drop rates?  Do you really want to claim that Omarion Hampton was the reason UNC won the Duke game?  That is the kind of specious nonsense that looks bad.  That Clemson game you're citing as evidence of the quality of Drake's supporting cast?  OMarion Hampton fumbled the ball into the endzone on his big run and caused a touchback, and Tez Walker dropped a 40 yard bomb that hit him in his hands in the fourth quarter that would have kept the game from getting out of hand.  Having one decent weapon is nothing like having three great ones, nevermind the massive difference in quality of the OLs.  And the differences in situation extend well beyond the other players in the offense.  UNC was dysfunctional last year, the coaches were a mess and struggled with just getting plays in during games.  The staff at LSU was legitimately excellent.  They had a magical season whereas Drake Maye spent the year bailing water for a sinking program.  Ignoring this huge difference in situation is sticking your head in the sand.  And so is ignoring the difference in the way each player responded to program dysfunction.  Jayden played like crap in 2021 and then transferred out, with his mom badmouthing the team.

The ASU program was as dysfunctional as it gets. They had 16 plus players transfer out after 2021.

Burrow and Daniels had very similar trajectories at LSU. An above average first season and after learning to command the system and offense, took off with some supremely talented receivers. A QB has to get the playmakers the ball and Daniels was great at doing that. Our running game was so so and the oline was stout, but Daniels delivered big time. He will be a star at the next level.

Not sure if this was part of the argument previously stated, but LSU only played one game without Daniels… the bowl game that he opted out of. Iirc they played wisconsin.

LSU would’ve been a 4-5 win team without Daniels. LSU offense was constantly in go now mode because our defense was historically bad. People forget that. The pressure was ALWAYS on Daniels to deliver any time we played a team with a pulse on offense. Pair Daniels and that offense with just a top 50 defense this season and they’re National Champions at the end of the year.

Not me.  I think we do it too, but it's a **** up and I'm going into this eyes open.  If we do this and Jayden is skinny Justin Fields and Drake Maye becomes Josh Allen part 2 in New England, Adam Peters's career is over.

Drake Maye could end up like Trubisky and Howell too and Peters' career is over. Such is life.

There are credit card receipts in her name and emails from her account. Dude you are embarrassing yourself now. Take your L and move on.

His mother, in conversations with Yahoo Sports, denied paying for the recruits’ travel. She said she received a notice in March that her Google email account had been “compromised” and she canceled her credit card after learning flights had been charged to it.

“It’s unfortunate,” Jackson said. “My credit card company notified me of the charges and they sent me a new card. They charged everything back because they realized it wasn’t me.”

She added she does no recruiting on behalf of the university.

Perhaps in the future you will simply accept everything I write or opine regarding a player or coach as fact. Almost as if a great football deity shared knowledge with you. You’re welcome.

Where is the PROOF she was actually involved with anything? Those are all "allegations." Nothing less and nothing more. And you said Jayden was a coach killer? Yeah, ok. Herm Edwards running a loose ship is what got that program in deep trouble. Jayden caused 15-16 other players to transfer that same offseason?

An allegation is defined as a claim of fact not yet proven to be true.

Maye was the consensus number two in the media until the patriots started paying people to talk up Daniels in hopes that peters would fall for it and let Maye drop to them. That **** ain’t happening though. Nice try New England. He is still the consensus… nay, the unanimous choice among People that know football… even if they aren’t saying it out loud… because New England is paying them.

Jayden Daniels' mom is paying New England, Hoge, Warner, Orlovsky, Simms as well to hype her son....allegedly.

A little?  We have buried this no-brainer under a mountain of BS.  It's still a no-brainer for the exact same reasons that it has been for two years, it just turns out that a bunch of the people crapping out draft takes have no ****ing brain.

No need for insults. There is a lot of tape out there on Maye that is cause for concern. Folks paid to live in a film room are dissecting every little thing about these top QBs and Maye’s stock is trending down.

We have no clue what actual NFL team scouts think. You're talking about social media and sports media people, who are mostly entertainers and in need of clicks and views.

Former players are a pretty big deal and why they get these sports media roles. Kurt Warner, Orlovsky, Merrill Hoge..all rank Jayden above Maye and that’s just off the top of my head.

Yep Maye is a consensus QB2 highly regarded prospect and has been for multiple years. If you pass on him and he succeeds, your guy has to be at least as good or youre IMMEDIATELY on the hot seat.

On the flip side if he takes Maye and he doesn't pan out, I wouldn't kill him. Sometimes everyone misses on a guy and it just is what it is.

I'll never crush a guy for taking a swing at a home run and missing, but if you don't swing at a meatball down the middle and settle for a single and the guy you pass on ends up being a grand slam, bye felicia.

I don't think Reid ever picked the wrong QB. In Philly he had McNabb and his backups all played at a high level(remember he flipped Kevin Colb for a 2nd rounder). Then he revived Vick's career. He was even the one that drafted Foles. He goes to KC and trades for Alex Smith to stabilize the team before eventually grabbing Mahomes. His track record when it comes to QBs is essentially 100%.

Sure doesn’t seem like Maye is the consensus QB2. Most experts and analysts have JD as number 2 lately.

If Mac Jones turned out to be an all-pro and they missed on Purdy, Peters is not our GM and Lynch is probably out in SF.

I put the Trey Lance pick on Kyle and Lynch not Peters.  They originally traded up for Mac Jones then flipped.  Jones and Lance are equally worthless so it’s a wash.

Maye has been considered a top prospect for 2 years. Passing on him is not the same situation particularly if he becomes an all-pro. Daniels is a tiny 1 year wonder with 5 years of ball, 4 of which sucked. In hind sight this is going to be a no brainer in my opinion with Daniels having injury riddled seasons and a short career while Maye turns into Andrew Luck or Josh Allen.

Jayden did not suck for 4 years  And you want Maye to be another Andrew Luck? A guy that quits early in his career due to injuries?

No it's really not. His tape is clear as day. If he gets pressured in the pocket he is getting sacked 30% of the time. The fact that he had a low pressure rate shows he was playing with an all star cast. It has nothing to do with his ability to move around the pocket at all.

How many top 50 defenses did Maye play against? Jayden played against 6 top 50 defenses and still managed to average over 8 ypc with the sacks. That's something Michael Vick, Vince Young, Johnny Football and Lamar Jackson couldn't even do. Vince was the closest with 7.4 ypc.

The situation at ASU was of his own making. Jayden and his mother were involved with the recruiting violations that were part of the reason numerous coaches got fired and went on record to throw his teammates under the bus in the press. He’s already proven to be a coach killer and locker room cancer. His increased use of social media recently is not a good sign of any improvement going forward.

You should have to link reports when you're making claims like this. Can you please provide proof of this?

  11. I stand by my belief that Daniels is going to be a better version of Lamar Jackson in that he can actually be an elite passer. He won't rely on his running ability as much as Lamar but I think he's going to be an absolute force in this league by year 2 or 3 and is going to have a Stroud like impact for whatever team drafts him next season.

He just needs to avoid an injury. 😎 I'm good with drafting Maye too. Don't think you can go wrong with either one. I also think Brian Thomas Jr. is going to be the better pro between him and Nabers. Hope he falls to Buffalo to see him paired with Allen.

Daniels isn't a taller Murray at all. That comp makes no sense. Murray is lightning quick and elusive. He's also very stocky and strong.

Daniels has straight line speed but doesn't really have wiggle or elusiveness. He's RG3 but skinnier and with a weaker arm.

Yeah if anyone is taller Kyler its Caleb. I would say Caleb is a hybrid of taller Kyler and shorter Rodgers.

Daniels absolutely is elusive. I feel like i'm taking crazy pills reading some of these takes. He made a ton of defenders miss in the open field if he wasn't already running right past them.

    Yeah with Daniels IMO

    A.  Throwing with anticipation

    B.  Throwing off platform

    C. Throwing in between the numbers

All key things to transition to the NFL.  If people want to make the case that Jayden's running ability can offset some of those issues at the start of his career -- maybe so.  But as a pure passer IMO Daniels has as many things to work on as Maye.

I think one point that can't be stressed enough is this is Maye as 21.  Daniels as 21 wasn't nearly the passer he is today.

Upside is the operative point with Maye

Jayden protects the ball better than any other QB in the draft which is a pretty important trait especially in the NFL.

Daniels and his mother help manufacture the toxic situation at ASU. 😂

    This is so laughable.

Oh is that why 16 other players transferred out of Arizona State along with Jayden the year he left?

It couldn't be the offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator resigning or the wide receivers coach and and defensive backs coach being fired that same offseason either.

Arizona State players clearing out Jayden's locker. That's a really healthy environment. So healthy that Herm was fired the following season and put in a self-imposed bowl ban for 2023.

this is silly. Nobody is ignoring anything.

You should try to separate your bias towards the kid and not get so defensive about him. None of this is personal.

its not about stats or past success.

This pick is about projecting a players career potential for ten plus years.

A dual threat guy that weighs 190 soaking wet is probably the biggest risk there is at QB. Id take JJ over him because he projects higher in my model long term. Hell I’d take Penix over him too. For me he is QB6 in this draft.

    But to each their own.

If he is the pick I’ll just change the channel when he runs it so as to avoid the impending train wreck. I cant handle another high draft pick getting ruined by irresponsible play style.

If you read up a few posts above mine, this is literally in a post from someone:

have no idea whats going on because the Daniels hypers are logically ignoring his career and focusing on his '23,

I was just defending his overall career.

The JD5 hate/distrust on here is bizarre  You go on to say none of it is personal yet you're going to change the channel everytime he runs the ball?

  16. People are ignoring Daniels career? What is there to ignore? He had a stellar true freshman season and a pretty solid first season at LSU learning an entirely new system. He also left an extremely toxic situation at ASU. His "down" years are equatable to JJ's best years as a QB stats wise. Jayden has always protected the ball with a solid completion percentage.

Very nice workout. Dont care about the balls he missed at all. I wanted to see the velocity and spin. And we got that. He doesnt have Calebs or Drakes arm. But I think he has a better arm than Burrow does. I was also happy with how he looked physically. I am damn glad I am not the one making a choice here at 2. :)

Yeah he isn’t the fired up Allen/Burrow or even Mahomes type, but he is the quiet leader and keeps CALM under pressure like Burrow. I never saw him get flustered in big moments and that is something you really can’t teach. I’ve been saying they need to test stress/heartbeats of these QBs.

Gotta remember too both him and Burrow transferred in and won over the team pretty early with a lot of talented alphas. I think that calming presence in the huddle during big moments/drives is monumental.

There was this excerpt about Burrow that I thought was extremely cool and telling and I see the same in Daniels

    https://www.ohio-forum.com/2019/09/vander-ven-on-lsus-burrow-his-pulse-probably-doesnt-change-no-matter-the-situation-he-finds-himself-in/

Vander Ven is a professor of sociology at Ohio University. After that particular basketball game, he offered Burrow’s parents, Jimmy and Robin, an unsolicited diagnosis of their son.

“Because I’m a sociologist that studies crime, after the game I told his parents that Joe had the kind of qualities that you find in cops and first responders — and also serial offenders,” Vander Ven said. “The point I was making was he had the kind of qualities those people have, where his pulse probably doesn’t change no matter the situation he finds himself in. He could be mowing the lawn or pulling people from a fire and his pulse would probably stay about the same.”

The only QB to leave the combine early and refused to get measured was Diva Daniels. Caleb and Maye stayed, interacted with their peers and gave interviews to NFL Network. Diva Daniels claimed he was going to get ready for his pro day. Which is now an incomplete with his refusal to run. 100% Diva behavior.

Caleb refused medicals. And that’s just the start of it, but all of his character concerns have been addressed here already. You think Jayden is a diva/bust and I think of Caleb as a diva/all-time level bust. To each their own.
