The Coaching Thread/Race to Black Monday: 1/6/25

The Hot Seat 2015- Week 4 1. Joe Philbin, at 1-3. Joe could be fired by Tuesday and be the first coaching casuality.. 2. Gus Bradley, at 1-3. Third season, doesn't really look much better. Mr. Khan will probably be making a change after this year. 3. Jim Caldwell, 0-3. Will be 0-4 after tonight. Could he fired after only 2 seasons? Yes, he can. 4. Mike Pettine, 1-3. He could be done after 2 seasons also, never know with their owner. 5. Sean Payton, 1-3. It really hasn't been the same since bountygate. I don't know if he's really on the hot seat but it could be time for Sean to move on from New Orleans. 6. Love Smith, 1-3. The Bucs aren't good. The owners may want someone else to develop Winston. 7. Chip Kelly, 1-3. He won the power struggles. His moves are backfiring. Could be returning to college soon. 8. Chuck Pagano, 2-2. Only a superbowl appearance will get him a new contract but he moves down the list for now. 9. Jeff Fisher, 2-2. He moves down but no playoffs and he's probably gone. 10. Tom Coughlin, 2-2. Giants are tied with us but wins tiebreaker since they beat us. Still, a non-playoff season seals Tom fate. So, those are the coaches who are on the hot seat. The more they lose, the hotter that seat gets. For week 4, Jay Gruden dropped off. Skins season feels like a .500, which will get Jay a third year. I did add Chip Kelly & Lovie Smith. -

Dan Snyder 1. Norv Turner (Was in his 6th year when Dan bought the team) - 1 year, 13 games 2. Marty Shottenheimer - 1 year 3. Steve Spurrier - 2 years 4. Joe Gibbs - 4 years 5. Jim Zorn - 2 years 6. Mike Shannahan - 4 years 7. Jay Gruden ( is in his 4th game of second year) - ??? Following historical patterns of one Dan Snyder, Gruden is going to need really do well to be allowed a 3rd season. I don't think the odds favor him. His QB choice: Kirk Cousins is showing he's nothing more than a backup. A backup with a severe case of interceptionitus. His alternatives are a primma donna QB, who's so bad; he got benched in preseason. A journeyman QB,at best, Colt. Also, he is teetering on the line from either being just mediocre (7-8 wins) to have this unravel completely. He's not a coach that inspires one to believe he could stop a slide. Also, he has a new boss; who owes him nothing. Scott would like to sink or swim with someone of his own choosing. I don't have any faith in Gruden to change his impending demise. -

The first post of 2015. Yes, the hot seat for 2015 is already warming up; after 3 weeks. The Hot Seat 2015- Week 3 1. Jay Gruden, at 1-2. Skins face a must win game or else season could slip away fast. Kirk is Kirk and he could cost Gruden his job. 2. Joe Philbin, at 1-2. The Dolphins looked bad. The other AFC East teams are better & the fish could finish 4th. That will be it for Joe. 3. Chuck Pagano, at 1-2. His contract is up. Only a Superbowl win, probably sees him getting a new contract. 4. Gus Bradley, at 1-2. Third season, doesn't really look much better. Mr. Khan will probably be making a change after this year. 5. Jim Caldwell, 0-3. Could he fired after only 2 seasons. Yes, he can. 6. Mike Pettine, 1-2. He could be done after 2 seasons also, never know with their owner. 7. Jeff Fisher, 1-2. Maybve, the Rams aren't that much better. He probably is done if they don't make the playoffs. 8. Tom Coughlin, 1-2. Giants beating us, maybe provides the spark that saves their season. A non-playoff season seals Tom fate. 9. Sean Payton, 0-3. It really hasn't been the same since bountygate. I don't know if he's really on the hot seat but it could be time for Sean to move on from New Orleans. So, those are the coaches who are on the hot seat. I've already watched the pilot for CBS's Supergirl - definitely one of the fall shows I will be watching. Just watched the pilot for Fox's Lucifer. I liked it and will like to see where it goes. Already getting protests since the show is about the DEVIL. This is a midseason show. Based on a comicbook. NBC's Blindspot pilot was pretty good. Enough to keep me interested. It stars Thor's Jaimie Alexander. Fox's Minority Report was okay. I'm not sure that show will last long. Supergirl seems the best bet to make it to a Season 2. Probably about 5-6 weeks until new TV season starts.

Fantastic Four - D+. It was okay, if it was a made for DVD movie. It just didn't feel like a movie. I redeemed myself when I saw "The Man From UNCLE" today. A more intelligent flick and it gets an A from me. I hope it does well for a sequel; as the 3 leads had good chemistry. I also, want to see more adventures with the UNCLE team. -

I saw Pixels today. I'll give it a C+. Your standard Adam Sandler movie. I do like idea though and would like a more serious look at the idea of this movie. Seeing those early-mid 80's games brought back some memories. -

I saw "Selfless". I'll give a C. It was alright. Maybe a little long though. Ryan Reynolds better hope Deadpool pans out. He seems to star in a lot of flops. -

I saw "AntMan" this evening. I loved it. It gets an A+. Enjoyable and a different hero. There are 2 bonus scenes. One during the credits and one after the credits. -

I saw the Minions, twice this weekend. I'll give the movie a B+. If you love the Minions, you will like the origin story of those yellow little minions. If you are there just to take a kid, you will make it through, Kids should love this movie. There's something missing without Gru being the focus of the movie but the Minions definitely hold their own. The star of this movie is Minion Bob. Speaking of Mr. Despicable Oh, there's a bonus scene after all the credits are done. I missed it the first time but when I saw it the second time, I stayed. Hardly, anyone left in the theater by then. -
Expanded the focus. Originally, just started as me asking, if it was time to return to the small screen.
