Mickalino
It certainly feels like it. I drove about 10 miles thru a driving blizzard with windshield wipers that didnt work at all, peeping thru small opeings of snow on the windshield, only to finally have my truck get stuck in the snow. I then proceeded to walk another 5 miles home in this blistering blizzard and 1 foot of snow. But not before I accidentally slammed my truck door on 4 of my fingers. Brave, are you okay ? Brave
I was about to ask the same of you when I saw your post. Yeah, we're not too bad here in Greensboro. On my side of town we got about 5 inches ... no big deal unless you wanted some bread and milk at any point over the next few days. It gets progressively worse as you go East. Supposedly a foot around Burlington. You are certainly having a rough couple of weeks here. Slamming doors on cold fingers! Ouch!
Sag
Living up here in the great Northeast like I do, we expect that white stuff. We haven't got an inch yet. I could mow the grass, if that was on my "Top Ten list of things I look forward to doing" I can only imagine the panic and chaos where it isn't expected in the amounts your getting. Brave
It's really funny down here in NC, Sag. People panic at a mere forcast of flurries. Grocery stores and gas stations are a madhouse. People don't go to work. Everyone thinks they need SUVs or 4-wheel drives even though we might (or might not) get one good snow storm a year. Presumably the thought is that we'll all be "snowed in" for days at a time. I can't recall that ever being the case, though. The only thing I do differently is go into work earlier than usual to avoid being on the roads with much traffic. I always enjoy it. Peoples reactions actually serve as a type of entertainment to me. Only one thing I regret ... today is the first time my 2-year-old son will have seen a decent amount of snow. Wish I could see his face.

Hog Fever
We have about 8 inches here now and it's still snowing. I am a "code red" employee so here I am at work. ------------------ "To the Smootmobile"
Om
Saw no less than 14 scattered snowflakes on my commute to Old Town Alexandria, VA this morning. And the obligatory 9 accidents involving panicked motorists. May have to bail early to fight my way to the grocery store for batteries, another shovel and the last remaining loaf of bread. Screw the milk ... I'm getting beer.
TennesseeCarl
My wife and I have a suicide pact if the power goes out for more than 4 hours. When I moved to Tennessee from the north (I'd been in New Jersey for a while), the idea of being paralyzed by snow seemed preposterous. School is closed merely for the forecast of snow. Of course, when you haven't got a single snow plow for 175 miles and only a few salting vehicles, the problem becomes a whole lot clearer. Snow isn't really the culprit in the South...it's the dreaded ice storm. Those are scary! Trees coming down left and right. Power lines down for weeks. My house is surrounded by huge old oaks. Ice storms give me the willies.
Guest fuji869
It is not snowing in the Seattle Area, just raining big surprise. That is why 80% of the seats in the new Seahawk Stadium will be covered and Safeco Field has a retractable roof. In fact I have been up here since April 99 and have not seen a heavy snow fall? Sag
Brave, I know just what your saying. Being stationed in DC in the early 70,every forecast of snow shut the government down and the first flurry made the beltway look like a demolition derby waiting to happen, and it usually did. Hopefully things have changed down there in 30 years. Again to all down in the snow, be safe

Utah
Snow? Did I hear snow? Hell, we MAKE snow out here just so we can have it on the slopes. Schools and businesses out here don't shut down unless we hit the 2 feet. Even then, half the city protests. Its good that all of you are OK though. We out here just expect it and are used to it. OF course, that comes with living in the Mountains. ------------------ "He has a confidence born of demonstrated ability."
Om
Sag, I am in a federal office, just outside of DC. Take it from me, nothing has changed. I'm waiting for the call from OPM (the agency, not the poster) shutting us down because there is snow within 30 miles of the Beltway. And btw, I'd once again like to thank each and every one of you for paying your taxes.
@DCGoldPants
Living outside of D.C. and having to drive the beltway daily, I hope for NO snow unless it keeps me from work or I am skiing at Deep Creek for a quick get-away. Taxes? I thought those were optional. ------------------

OrangeSkin
Here in Fredericksburg, which is about 45 miles south of DC, we have about 4 inches. Apparently, we're the "Northern edge" of the storm. On Sunday there's supposed to be sleet and freezing rain. I'm not sure about the Carolinas, but I do know the DC area will get hit by it.
Art
I'm in Minnesota and we have NOTHING. I mean, it's white and all, but, three inches or so is all, and with a good freeze we haven't lost any. It kind of gets me sad. I bought a wonderful new snow thrower and only got to use it twice early in the season and that was a heavy, thick terrible snow to throw. I was in Durham during the blizzard there a couple of years ago. It shut down the area for a week. They do not come prepared for adverse conditions . ------------------ Doom is in the box.
