"Big Zinc" Why We Don't Have Better, Cheaper, Sunscreen in America...

So my family went on a vacation last summer to Europe.  It was great, but it was the sunscreen that this post is about.  My wife is very sun-sensitive, so we were surprised whe. we were able to pick up her "La Roche Posay" branded sunscreen for the cost of the cheaper, lower quality sunscreen we would get in America.  Turns out, the FDA hasn't approved any new sunscreen filters for UVA since the 1990s.  This basically means, the advanced sunscreens used in Europe and Asian countries aren't available here. 

 

While we did buy "La Roche Posay"  in Europe, we bought the European version.  They have a different formula they sell on the American market.  Some people might think... "gee, L'Oreal USA operations are in Kentucky... there is a major Senatorn from Kentucky" and you'd be right to think that FDA roadblocks has the appearance of political protectionism.  

 

Anyway, hopefully this is news to people.  It was to me when I looked into it.  Down with "big zinc"!!!

For shame! Of all the things I have forgotten in my life, I lament that Simpsons episodes are part of it.

 

May have to just go watch about 8 seasons worth right now.
