I don't know if we'll ever find a full, TV or WMAL radio broadcast of this game but in in lieu of that, here's the CBS Radio broadcast of the franchise's first NFC Championship.

Edit: notable markers -

29:40 - Knight FG good - 3-0 WSH
39:12 - Kilmer to Taylor TD; Knight PAT - 10-0 WSH
48:10 - Fritsch FG good - 10-3 WSH
1:00:40 - Fritsch FG no good. Halftime - 10-3 WSH
1:31:25 - End of the 3rd Quarter - 10-3 WSH
1:34:11 - Kilmer to Taylor TD; PAT Good - 17-3 WSH
1:43:00 - Knight FG good - 20-3 WSH
1:51:15 - Knight FG good - 23-3 WSH
2:00:32 - 2 minute warning & the Amen Chorus (lotta Maryland fans in the crowd apparently)
2:05:35 - Knight FG good - 26-3 WSH
2:10:00 - Game over and field invasion; Final: 26-3 WSH

Thanks bluefood. I love when you post this classic stuff.

Truly it is one of the few interesting (in a non-awful way) about this franchise. Awful as the internet can be, we're lucky to have this kind of information sharing infrastructure and how it can connect us to our own past and our predecessors.

Plus it's nice to hear this team actually win big games for a change 😅

Love stuff like this!

Got any more?

Edit:

I've been fiending for years to watch the entire Gibbs era. Particularly games during that first season when he was almost going to get fired before he turned things around.

I was a road warrior traveling cross country closing deals back then and missed all but a few of those games.

Does anyone have any old VHS tapes that have been converted to digital that they'd like to share?

Curt Knight made 14 out of 30 field goals during that regular season!  He was clutch during the 1972 playoffs though.

My dad still winces whenever he hears Kurt Knight's name because it really felt like a 50-50 prospect (at best).
