hail2skins
Apparently Pepper Rodgers, VP of Football Operations for the Skins between 2001-4, has passed away at the age of 88. Pepper's claim to Redskins fame was almost becoming interim coach of the Skins for the last three games of the 2000 season after Snyder fired Norv after a home loss to the Giants, dropping the Skins to 7-6. Pepper had been a regular in Snyder's box (he played football in college and was a college head coach, as well as the USFL and CFL). Rumor was that Snyder was considering placing him as interim coach, but both Ray Rhodes (DC) and Terry Robiskie (OC) said they would leave if that happened. Rhodes didn't want the job, so Robiskie took it.
Malapropismic Depository
I remember his role with the Skins. But never heard the story that he almost became Interim Coach.
