Bauman May Not Play In Carolina Game

Cornerback Rashad Bauman sat out practice on Friday and may not play in this Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers, head coach Steve Spurrier said.

Bauman is officially listed as questionable with a sprained ankle, but Spurrier did not seem optimistic that he would have Bauman’s services for the game. The second-year cornerback injured his ankle during practice on Oct. 27 and has missed two games.

“Some ankle sprains come back quicker, like Chad Morton’s [ankle] is back,” Spurrier said.

Defensive back David Terrell would step in as the defense’s third cornerback for the third game in a row. Ade Jimoh would come in for dime packages.

Defensive tackle Jermaine Haley (sprained shoulder/fractured thumb) and safety Andre Lott (sprained ankle) did not practice Friday and will be game time decisions. Both are listed as questionable for the game. Complete Injury Report.

Larry Moore (sprained foot) and Ladell Betts (fractured forearm) also did not practice Friday and are listed as doubtful for the game. Lennie Friedman would start in place of Moore.

As of Friday afternoon, coaches have not decided who will start at tailback. Trung Canidate is first on the depth chart. Spurrier indicated earlier this week that Rock Cartwright could see more playing time at tailback after his 81-yard performance in last Sunday’s victory over Seattle.

“Rock will play some at tailback even if he doesn’t start,” Spurrier said.

Offensive coordinator Hue Jackson said Friday that the starter at tailback may depend on the offense's first play call.

Morton practiced Friday but is still listed as questionable for the game. Spurrier was optimistic that Morton would be able to play on Sunday.
