Leader In Sports
https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/sports/1981/11/13/jacoby-a-highlight-of-year-for-gibbs/f1f114f0-556b-4aa7-bcc7-1e140c1e49b0/ Great read from November of 1981. I did not realize Joe Jacoby was Charley Casserley's discovery. You can tell that Big Jake jumped out from the pack early on.
Riggo-toni
I knew about Casserley and had heard the storu about being mistaken for a DT, but I had never heard that Jacoby had never even done weightlifting until his senior year, nor did I know he had bounced around the line at so many different spots, though I knew when Lachey came in years later, we moved him to RT. DC9
Nice piece. And for those of you who don't know just how big of a man Jake is... here he is next to little Trent... Williams. Our All-Pro LT.
NickyJ
Man, I didn't realize how big he was. I always think of players from that era being smaller in both height and girth.
The Rook
No disrespect to Jake, but when I shook his hand, it was like shaking a foot. He has always been a HOF'er to me. The Rook
Dark Acre
I met Joe at Jumbo Foods in Annandale in 1986. I had never seen someone that big in real life. My neck still hurts from looking up that far. Nice guy though - shook my hand and introduced himself.
