Although things are being done in a vastly different way allowing us to rightfully expect a different result, no one should be upset if the Redskins don't set the world on fire right away.

For your own well-being, not to mention my own, suggest you/we keep expectations low. That way we allow ourselves to be pleasantly surprised instead of greatly disappointed.

I am very much a subscriber to this idea - hope for the best, but be prepared for the worst.

Also, I should maybe clarify - the looming optimism is not that we'll be contenders, but that we'll look like a competent team... a team that I can be proud to root for (even with a losing record).

Last year was rough (as were many preceding years). We went from being a laughingstock to being so pathetic as to invite pity. Living in Texas, that was even more unbearable. Little kids were telling me the Redskins suck upon seeing my hat, etc. Ugh.
