redman
Yeah Bufford, but if you actually go to Harmon's Week 12 Forecast you'll find that he picks us to win. So those maroons over at CBSSportsline don't even know what they're doing, much less what will happen on the football field on Sunday. ------------------ "Loosen up, Sandy baby. Henry
Tampa Bay defensive tackle Warren Sapp made himself laugh with this pithy assessment of his team: "We're 5-5. We're tied with the Redskins." Thank you, Warren, for helping us keep that chip on our shoulder. ------------------ "Men, there's nothing to get excited about. The situation is normal; we are surrounded."
Ignatius J.
Bufford and redman, I don't understand what you're talking about. I think you'd be a fool to put money on the skins in this one. We're not exactly going to blow dallas away with our offense, and their defense is pretty good. Taking dallas at +8.5 seems like the way to go. -DB

@DCGoldPants
so, I AM missing something. I didn't realize they were picking dallas to cover the spread, not win. There is a big difference. I don't care by how many we win by, just that we win. If it's by 100 points, then that's an added bonus. ------------------ <IMG SRC="http://us.news1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/nm/20011125/amdf91063.jpg" border=0> -"Give it up for the Comeback kid!" Ignatius J.
Neither do I, i just want to see the W. But I agree it would be nice to just crush dallas for once.... -DB
redman
I believe that those picks are straight up, not ATS. Correct me if I'm wrong. ------------------ "Loosen up, Sandy baby. bulldog
as someone who has dabbled in the mathematics of trying to win pick-3's against the spread over the years for enjoyment purposes only , I can tell you it is a lot easier picking games straight up. Heck I usually get about 70% or 75% of the Sunday games right as outright wins/losses, but average only 45% against the spread. And that is the difference between making money and staying away from laying down real cash. If you can't get to 60% against the spread (very hard to do), you won't break even and cover your "handling fee".
TheKurp
Those picks CAN'T be straight up. They've got the Lions over the Bears and Cincy over the Bucs. The only way those picks make any sense is if they're considering the point spread. ------------------ "The Kurp"

Brave
Right on, Bulldog. Those fools selling their "winners" are outright liars. The only people more stupid are those who buy their picks. The top handicapper ACTUALLY hits on between 55% and 60% of his picks. This is the break even point, so long term you're risking losing money for the opportunity to break even at best. It doesn't work. I dabbled in betting the games for awhile. The only way to be successful is to limit yourself to ONLY the one or two games you feel most strongly about. Every week, between the college and pro line-ups, there are about two games I feel real good about. Betting those wins money (usually.) Getting greedy and adding games (to a parlay or a straight bet) is a losing proposition. It's what the books and bookies count on and it's how they get rich.
