Ben Hamilton could add much needed depth

I think its fair to assume that Hamilton will me a redskin in 2010. What would be awesome is if we could somehow swing a deal with Denver to get kuper. Assuming lichtensteiger gets the job at center We would not only have 3 starters on the oline that were already familiar with the system but we would have great continuity at the interior of our line.

So funny how everyone's is into developing our own young players, but the second somebody becomes available with ties, its "sign him sign him!" We might be able to win 9 games in '10!!!!

Patience is a virtue....a virtue that is completely missing in DC.

The Zone blocking scheme is very complicated. Shanny's whole time in Denver the only OL to start his rookie year was Clady. Hamilton will provide a bridge for the youngsters that will be coming in. He spent his entire professional career in it and he would be a great pickup.

We need as much OL help as we can get. Randy Thomas unfortunately seems to be a likely cut due to his age, injuries, and contract. Mike Williams played better at G as the season went on and could benefit from not having the long layover from football, but he doesn't fit Shanny's ZBS at all. Likely gone when they see his lack of footwork. Chad Rinehart is a guy I had high hopes on. He hasn't done anything to prove he's better than your typical backup. He's competing for a roster spot. Derrick Dockery's another big body that isn't as suited for a ZBS, but due to the overall OL situtation, we can't afford to replace him as well. Edwin Williams is more of center than guard. Will Montgomery is another guy competing for a roster spot.

I would be shocked if the Redskins don't pickup Ben Hamilton.

We have 5 picks and maybe find a few talented UDFAs. Few, if any, can be successfully developed unless they are in the right environment. Finding and signing (or keeping a couple of old vets) a guy or two who at least know what they're doing and have seen success in doing what you are trying to teach is a requirement that cannot be ignored or your just wasting effort. When bringing in a new system, it is also good to have talent that already knows the system to help you teach it. Finally, you must provide some level of immediate success (ie, when there is execution, the play works) since they need to see that what they've learned so far works and know if they learn more and internalize it, they will eventually see ultimate success. We are talking about a guy who'll likely be relatively cheap and will NOT take up a roster spot of guy who has real potential.
