H-O-G
I can't help but notice that regardless of what side the run play is designed to go, Portis always holds the ball in his right side. Is it me, or isn't it football fundamentals to switch the ball over to your left side when running to the left and vice versa just to better protect the football.
SlinginSammy HOF '63
I thought it was falling down when touched. Kidding!!! He had a good game today
Xero21
It is right to switch depending on what side, but CP typically doesn't stiff arm and keeps both hands free to cradle the ball too. Whatever he needs to do to hold on to the ball is fine.
jnhay
I think it makes sense for the runningback to put the ball in his dominant hand when he receives the handoff. If he breaks one, then he can change it to the hand opposite of where the defender is. He's being attacked from both sides when he bursts through the line. SkinsJackpot
The bigger point is his better days are behind him. We need to start to look at the future at RB.
terpfan
Eh, thats really only a big thing if you are running down the sideline. I dont think most backs switch the hand they carry the ball in depending on which side they run to.
